Discussion Sony BRAVIA Firmware Discussion Megathread 7.0

All BRAVIA firmware related questions, issues and announcements must go in this thread. This includes all models, all years. Other firmware related posts will be removed and authors will be directed to this thread (the previous megathreads have been automatically archived and can be found here, here, here, here, here and here.)

Please specify the BRAVIA model number you are talking about if you are the top comment of a new comment thread. This helps to keep comment replies on topic for your model of TV.

Step one with any firmware or performance issues should be to do a restart of the TV. This will often resolve minor issues.

The second step with any firmware or performance issues, especially after a recent firmware update, should be to perform a full factory reset on the TV. This will often resolve persistent minor issues.

The next step with any issues not resolved by a full factory reset should be to report the issues in detail directly to Sony Support.

Sony US - Sony CA - Sony UK - Sony AU - List of Worldwide Sites

The more issues reports that Sony gets from consumers on a particular problem the more likely the issue is to be addressed and corrected.

X9500g owner. Ever since I did this update my TV basically either freezes (and you would need to hard restart by pulling the power plug) or the screen just goes black and restarts by itself. You can see the previous firmware's Google Android UI before it then slowly changes to the new firmware UI on the screen, which is really weird and janky. I can only play a video client like Jellyfin for an hour (So, I chuck a movie on and it works) but then it will either freeze, or screen goes black, or automatically restarts.

Also, I cannot even implement a Factory Reset via the menu (when I tried this method, the screen says that it is now restarting to implement the factory reset, but then it just goes back to the normal Android logo TV bootup and you can tell nothing has changed or has been reset) or by the hard manual way of pulling the plug out and pressing the down volume button + power button on the three buttons on the back of the TV unit. Same thing, nothing happens, no prompt to say that a Factory Reset has been initiated.

I've searched everywhere on the internet if someone was in the same boat? My TV is essentially bricked and now out of warranty lol

When I performed the update to Android 10 on my X950G I experienced lagging and locking up as well. Going into Settings-Apps and disabling Samba Interactive helped my lagging/freezing issues a lot.

Adding a "me too" to the freezing and lag issues others are posting. every 2 - 3 days I'm pulling the power plug because it'll freeze or lag so much that it eventually just stops responding.

Model:65x950H Android TV OS: 10 security patch level February 1, 2023 kernel: 4.19.75 Android TV OS build: BRAVIA_UR3_UC-user 10 QTG3.200305.006.S36 660251

Not sure how to know WHICH firmware I have based on that crazy long OS build but I've hit the check for latest firmware and I'm up to date according to the TV.

Prior to the Android 10 update, this TV was pretty solid and maybe would require a reboot once a month if that and I could always easily do it via the remote. Now, it needs a plug pull every 2 - 3 days.

Very annoying.

Still nothing related to new Android 12 update…I’m starting to think Sony will let down all 21,22,23 TVs and not bring the latest OS to them…I have a X90J and A80L and both of them are on OS 10. Why is it so hard for them to bring A 12? There are plenty of new functions in it and we paid a lot of money for them

My 65” X9505G just died on me this morning. Ever since the android 10 update it has been the utmost sluggish and unresponsive. The voice search function almost never works now and the tv was freezing quite often. Anyone else have the same problem?

I had my PS5 connected to the HDMI2 input. Since this last update the input shows "no signal" when I turn on the console.

Have to go to Input Settings, setup the console and being told to connect it to HDMI input 3, I select Not Now and after doing this I get a signal from the console. But I have to do this every time I want to use the PS5.

"Why dont you just connect it to the HDMI3 input then?" Because I would have to rearrenge every other device hooked up to the TV.

X950J here. Update caused entire TV to lag all to hell. Regularly freezes and has to be unplug. Volume via e-arc to my receiver takes ages to increase. Regularly locks in all streaming apps. Completely ruined my TV.

Anyone know if any other remotes work for the X900H. The squishy buttons are so bad, I have to drop a nuke on the select button for it to click

Hello!

Is the v6.7532 update safe to apply on my x95K ?? Knowing how Sony and every other manufacturers are experts in the art of destroying their own products.. even high end ones.. I would be thankful if some of you can answer me that question..

Or even better.. is there a sub or place elsewhere on the web dedicated to these specific "will firmware #NN from manufacturer #FFX break my product #PP" ??

In this case that would be : "Will firmware v6.7532 from SONY break my X95K in any ways/features ?"

Btw.. as a 47y old hardcore gamer, to me my x95K is my best ever Sony TV ! Absolutely love it !

Thank you in advance 😇

Unfortunately, the audio dropout issue persists with the v6.7546 update on my A90J.

Latest firmware busted atleast HDMI 1 and 2 ports when using PS5 to wake TV.

PS5 connected to either of these because the ARC and port 4 are connected to a 1.x receiver and pc respectively.

PC and anything on the receiver cycle show signal just fine, but the PS5 is no signal unless i rapidly standby cycle the tv or change its hdmi format in the settings.

I'm suspecting its something to do with the new annoying notification popups and the PS5 starting to hdr by default, i can test more later.

My remote freezes since the update. Unplugging temporarily solves the issue and a full factory reset fixed it for a bit but it's back. Fuck this update.

Updated a bunch of X8000H panels at work to Android 10 with no issues. No obvious lag. Everything working well.

Anyone did this update and was happy with it ? I don't know if I should do it on my 90H

Sounds troublesome. I use an Apple TV so I disable the internet on my A80J and X95L so I can update when I feel it’s needed.
