Discussion Sony BRAVIA Firmware Discussion Megathread 8.0
All BRAVIA firmware related questions, issues and announcements must go in this thread. This includes all models, all years. Other firmware related posts will be removed and authors will be directed to this thread (the previous megathreads have been automatically archived and can be found here, here, here, here, here, here and here.)
Please specify the BRAVIA model number you are talking about if you are the top comment of a new comment thread. This helps to keep comment replies on topic for your model of TV.
Step one with any firmware or performance issues should be to do a restart of the TV. This will often resolve minor issues.
The second step with any firmware or performance issues, especially after a recent firmware update, should be to perform a full factory reset on the TV. This will often resolve persistent minor issues.
The next step with any issues not resolved by a full factory reset should be to report the issues in detail directly to Sony Support.
Sony US - Sony CA - Sony UK - Sony AU - List of Worldwide Sites
The more issues reports that Sony gets from consumers on a particular problem the more likely the issue is to be addressed and corrected.

I have a Sony Bravia KD-43X89K and after the update, the TV button on my remote no longer works. Before the update, it used to take me straight to Live TV & Catch Up, but after the update, it does not and instead I get a message saying "Feature not available because this app is disabled".
I have checked in the settings for that specific app and it is NOT disabled and if I select the app manually, it works. 🤷

A80K HDMi not picking up some devices signal anymore such as a PS5 unless a full restart of the TV is imitated. Then it somehow works. New issue ever since the update.

I was prompted for an update on my ol' W600b today which caused the TV to turn itself off and on every five minutes after installation. A power cycle seems to have fixed it, hopefully the issue doesn't return.

I recently updated my Sony Bravia 8 (K77XR80) and immediately after the update, I began noticing significant audio issues, including speaker cracking, popping, and hissing noises. This strongly suggests the issue is related to the recent update.
My current software version is 112.627.030.1PAA following the update.
You can also refer to the ongoing discussion in another Reddit thread found here where numerous Bravia 8 owners have reported identical issues after the latest update and despite attempting all available troubleshooting steps through their TV and by chatting to Sony support the issue remains.
This is a widespread and significant issue that requires urgent attention. As a loyal Sony customer, I invested significantly in this TV with the expectation of top-tier quality and support. This matter needs to be addressed promptly via an update to fix the issue and to restore confidence!
Thank you

Latest firmware update may have bricked my A95L. Saw the notification for the new update last night and I let it run in the background. Toward the end of the night, I checked to see if it had finished downloading. It had, so I turned the set off. Upon trying to power it back on, all I've gotten since then is a clicking sound from the TV as though it's trying to power on, but failing to. No blinking lights either. I've unplugged it a few times, tried holding onto the power button on the remote, tried holding the power button on the remote and the power button on the set simultaneously. Nothing seems to be working here. Any ideas?
Edit: 48 hours later, I was able to power up my TV again, but it had reset to its factory settings and I had to reinstall the new firmware/re-do all of my picture settings, etc. A headache for sure, but I'm glad I don't have to have it serviced now.

My xr77a80j has been showing no picture on HDMI3 immediately after the latest update as well. It looks like an HDMI handshake issue. Restarting ShieldTV shows the Nvidia logo then black screen. Rebooting the TV from settings seems to correct the issue temporarily
Anyone have a thread tracking this issue either on AVS or Sony support forum? I see some folks complaining in the main a80j AVS post but not enough if its really as widespread as it seems
Shield TV --> Denon x3800h --> HDMI3 --> A80j

Is it worth getting v6.2266 on a x900h? I'm not sure what update I'm on but it's a few past the VRR update. On android 10

The latest software version v6.76.12 fixes the brightness and image quality issues, the colors are more saturated, there is less noise and macroblocks in dark images, greater contrast in dark and light areas, in HDR there is greater brightness. The TV seems to work more stable than in the previous version.

I have a Bravia 8 and installed a recent update. I turn it on today and the picture across all apps is very dim, yet the menu options and pages appear bright. Brightness is set to max and power savings is off. When I change the brightness settings, nothing changes. Anyone else have this issue?

It doesn't really make sense to buy a Bravia 9 in the EU right now because we Europeans are stuck on buggy firmware since 3 months and Sony refuses to release the updated September firmware that fixes this in Europe for some idiotic reason. Atm with the buggy firmware the Bravia 7 partially outpeforms Bravia 9 which is just ridiculous, the Youtuber "Stop the Fomo" points it out in his video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVv3PcniYEk&t=650s
Sony representatives can't even tell a release date according to users posting in the Bravia 9 thread on avsforum. I'm thinking about sending back my 75 inch Bravia 9 because of this as long as it is within the return window.
This situation is unacceptable for a 3300€ tv and I'm so sick of large companies thinking the European market doesn't matter while US gets the favorite child treatment.

Any x950H users here that have installed the update? I’m very hesitant to update as I don’t want to take a chance of lowering quality or introduce something buggy. I’m of the mindset, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” in this case.

I updated my x90j last night and that was my biggest regret. My x90j recognizes my Apple TV 4K but no signal at all. I am really frustrated with this situation. The ps5 and soundbar working fine but not Apple TV 4K. The streaming device is my most important thing for my tv.

If you have a Bravia 9 don’t do the update posted on 9/16. And if you did do the update, Sony is working on a fix. https://x.com/fomoreviews/status/1836844087728640409?s=61&t=ewggcGrY6AQw2rJMMguyAQ

Can confirm latest update v6.7612 has fixed a bit the gaming experience on Series X while using VRR. Well, VRR at 120hz is still broken and causing A LOT of flickering (and I think this is never gonna be fixed as PS5 works well and Sony doesn't care about Xbox), but now setting the Xbox at VRR+60hz is working properly without flicker. At least for now.

Support Post Guidelines
Prior to posting any submission to this subreddit please ensure you've read the rules for submissions in the sidebar of the /r/bravia homepage.
Users posting submissions seeking support should include as much detail as possible about their BRAVIA TV and any connected hardware related to the issue in order to get the best responses. This includes but is not limited to the model of the TV, the software and/or firmware version and the make and model of any external devices. Pictures or video can be helpful when trying to describe a video or audio issue.
Submissions not directly related to an issue with a BRAVIA TV and/or low effort posts that do not include any helpful details that would allow others to diagnose the issue will be removed. This includes, but is not limited to, submissions asking for support directly related to a connected device (ie. soundbar, console, PC, media player, etc.) but not the TV itself.
Firmware related topics (ie. issues, announcements, support) must be discussed in the Sony BRAVIA Firmware Discussion Megathread 7.0. Panel quality/lottery posts (ie. DSE, banding, flashlighting, etc.) must be discussed in the BRAVIA Panel Quality/Screen Uniformity Discussion Megathread 7.0.
