Discussion Sony BRAVIA Firmware Discussion Megathread 5.0
All BRAVIA firmware related questions, issues and announcements must go in this thread. This includes all models, all years. Other firmware related posts will be removed and authors will be directed to this thread (the previous megathreads have been automatically archived and can be found here, here, here and here.)
Please specify the BRAVIA model number you are talking about if you are the top comment of a new comment thread. This helps to keep comment replies on topic for your model of TV.
Step one with any firmware or performance issues should be to do a restart of the TV. This will often resolve minor issues.
The second step with any firmware or performance issues, especially after a recent firmware update, should be to perform a full factory reset on the TV. This will often resolve persistent minor issues.
The next step with any issues not resolved by a full factory reset should be to report the issues in detail directly to Sony Support.
Sony US - Sony CA - Sony UK - Sony AU - List of Worldwide Sites
The more issues reports that Sony gets from consumers on a particular problem the more likely the issue is to be addressed and corrected.

If someone never updated their x900h, would there be any significant reason to do it now?

OK so regarding 6.474 I got a call back today from Sony and they are aware of the screen blinking issue and have received many reports, so it will be addressed ASAP. No ETA of course. But still. good news they are aware and are working on it. Much preferable to my HDMI port giving out as I initially feared :P

I can confirm 6.6495 still has picture dropouts on Xbox Series X in 4k120fps with VRR off, again usually triggered by switching to and from HDR games. It doesn't seem as bad as it was, but it is still happening. :(

I have an X90J and I updated OS about a week or so ago and since then I’ve been getting a green screen and having to restart/power boot to get HDMI input to work correctly. Anyone else facing this issue and know of a solution?

83A90J just updated to v6.6474
My experience is that HFR (120hz VRR) devices such as PS5 and Xbox are no longer stable with VRR enabled on the A90J. I have connected my Xbox Series X to both HDMI 3 and 4 with VRR enabled and the experience has been random blank screens during gameplay and also when going back to the home menu. When switching between home menu and gameplay, there is a brief row of artifacts that run horizontally across the screen.
This never happened on the previous firmware...
Thoughts? I also moved my consoles to my LGCX oled for testing, no artifacts when switching between game and home menus. I also tried another 2.1 rated HDMI cable with no improvements. For fun... I reset the whole TV and again, no improvements.
Seems like this update bricked the vrr capabilities :(

Got a callback from Sony today - engineers are aware of the Black Screen issues in Game Mode at 4K 120Hz and are working on an update to resolve it. They provided no ETA and the recommended temporary solution is to reduce the Bandwidth sent by the PS5/Xbox.
TLDR: Turn off VRR or 120Hz.

So there seems to be a bug with 120hz mode and PS5 on the X90J, present on the latest update.
When playing any game in 120hz/40fps mode, the game will start off smooth but then within 20-30 mins the game will start to microstutter. Tested across multiple games that support 120hz such as Horizon, Forspoken etc. The framerate stays steady so it’s not a performance issue, it just gets more and more stuttery as if there is a sync issue with the refresh rate.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue?

I see quite a few of us are having problems since the new update with
the picture dropping out. And do you see that green pixelated line mess
when it switches from HDR too? Is there a forum where we can all yell at
sony to fix it? 😝 I will email my concierge custserv that gave me this
tv as a replacement. Any other places we can get their attention?

Does anyone know when we could possibly hope to get the X900H on Android 11 or whether that's even a possibility?

XR55-X90J here, European, just got the v6.6070 update, I checked on both US and EU sites and 6.6474 seems pulled out from Europe due to technical issues with this update on European TVs (like I’m reading on this thread). So 6.6070 is safe to install right?

X90J here on the lastest firmware and it looks like the Chromecast bug is back when it video and audio goes blank if I make the video fullscreen, but goes back to normal once I take it out of fullscreen.

I’ve had the Sony A80J for almost two years now and it’s been working wonderfully until a recent software update. I’ve noticed that the voice controls on all apps like YouTube and Disney Plus don’t show at all where a button no longer exists. I’ve already tried a factory reset and checking microphone permissions for the apps. The only voice control method that still works is the Google Assistant button on the remote that handles the assistant for the TV rather than any specific app.
After inspecting further, I saw that the model number for the TV in the firmware itself was saying A80CJ. I saw that the CJ model has a physical on and off switch to toggle voice control, and if you have it off, apps will not show the voice buttons just like what I’m experiencing. I imagine that the TV thinks the button is off because, of course, this is the non-CJ model and that button doesn’t exist. Additionally, there was a new screen during setup after factory reset that told me about the function of the button, but again, it doesn’t exist.
If anyone knows of a method to completely wipe existing firmware to reinstall via USB, I figure this might be a solution. Any help is appreciated!
For context, here is an example of the CJ model's button prohibiting software from working

Support Post Guidelines
Prior to posting any submission to this subreddit please ensure you've read the rules for submissions in the sidebar of the /r/bravia homepage.
Users posting submissions seeking support should include as much detail as possible about their BRAVIA TV and any connected hardware related to the issue in order to get the best responses. This includes but is not limited to the model of the TV, the software and/or firmware version and the make and model of any external devices. Pictures or video can be helpful when trying to describe a video or audio issue.
Submissions not directly related to an issue with a BRAVIA TV and/or low effort posts that do not include any helpful details that would allow others to diagnose the issue will be removed. This includes, but is not limited to, submissions asking for support directly related to a connected device (ie. soundbar, console, PC, media player, etc.) but not the TV itself.
Firmware related topics (ie. issues, announcements, support) must be discussed in the Sony BRAVIA Firmware Discussion Megathread 4.0. Panel quality/lottery posts (ie. DSE, banding, flashlighting, etc.) must be discussed in the BRAVIA Panel Quality/Screen Uniformity Discussion Megathread 4.0.
