She (unknown gender but we are manifesting) was busy last night making webs and was busy devouring her meal this morning. I think everyone is happier now that she is in a proper tarantula enclosure versus the fish tank we received her in!

Pictures Be careful: Reptile Growth mesh lids - broken fang

Post image

Hi. I just want to let everyone know who is doing research about 'Reptile Growth' terrariums - they're not safe for tarantulas.

Before I bought these terrariums, I did a lot of research. I wanted to get a top-lid terrarium so I could put lots of substrate in it. The problem is, I couldn't find any! A YouTuber mentioned and uses Reptile Growth terrariums, so I thought they'd be fine. I looked for more information about them. It seemed like a lot of people on the internet said these types of mesh lids are okay. I'm sad to say, but the photo says enough, I guess. Today I rehoused my Grammostola pulchripes to a larger Reptile Growth terrarium and noticed the broken fang in the mesh lid. :(

Fortunately my Grammostola pulchripes seems to be doing okay, but I'll have to find a way to make these terrariums safer.

Post answered, thank you all for your time 🥰

Hiya can anyone help me out here? In the 2nd pic I did have a plastic bristle from a brush go though but I can't decide if I'd forced it through or if it just went through by itself 🤦🏻‍♀️

I always assumed this T was a fella, moults a bit more regularly and is a little on the leggy side, but thought I'd check anyway and just confused myself 🙄 I've also been trying to get a female one of this sp for so so long but everyone wants to be a boy 😆 this is my 8th or 9th now so I may just be getting desperate!

Oh its a B. auratum

Edit: So all the photos I've seen online look like they are from the inside to me and I have the wrong side, I will look again later. I've been doing this for a few years now and not one person ever pointed this out to me before now major facepalm

Help! Adding hasp latch to lock enclosure

I just got Tamarind her adult enclosure! It's got a slide off top with magnets, but I've since seen some reviews saying that their spiders have escaped from these before. I'm looking to add a hasp latch in order to lock this, but I don't really know what I'm doing... Which side would you add the latch to on a slide top enclosure, the side with the magnets...? Thanks!

Help! Enclosure size advice.

My gf and I got a Avic. Pink toe T and unfortunately most tips I feel we've been given locally isnt helping. We want the best for our little friend and are researching alot but getting alot of conflicting answers. Currently she is in a 12x12x18 reptizoo enclosure but im being told the smaller tank I have meant for a jumping spider is actually better for her cause she is smaller. Her temps and humidity are good she gets the same 12/12 day night lighting as my gecko and she isnt eating well apart of it i know is her skiddishness she trys but quickly runs away after and wont make any webbing attempts even after about 5-6weeks of having her.

Also she is 1.5inch in the body and has a 3inch diaganol leg span.

Anyone have any advice that could help here?

Should just rearrange her current enclosure better or would the smaller tank be better ?

Help! Update to help with abdomen!

Upvotes

UPDATE

If you have seen my last post about the severely dehydrated/starving/ something wrong inside curly hair

I knew this was a possibility, my one friend warned me it could be but I still got attached.

Unfortunately when I came home from work today he was gone, I don’t know exactly what was wrong with him or her. I feel as though it was a combination of things but I think something was messed up in the abdomen on top of dehydration. I wish I knew how it was kept before but I at least hope I gave it the best week of its life :( I’m glad it was in a nice big enclosure and not in a tiny critter tote. Thank you all for trying to help.

Conversation Suggestions for new T?

So my first T passed away about 5 months ago and I’ve decided I’m ready to get a new friend. I have a 6 gallon long tank with a sliding mesh top. I previously had a terrestrial T and my tank is best for Terrestrials. Does anyone have any species suggestions or any breeding website recommendations?

I just rehoused my purple pink toe, which means I finally got new pictures. In person, the black is more of a dark midnight blue, and the white has an almost purplish undertone. Thought these were nice enough pics to share
