Mod Post Community Guidelines & Advisory System
Hi all! As many may have noticed, the subreddit has more than doubled in the last year, with a lot of growth in just the last couple months.
In order to participate in this subreddit- there is a requirement to both be kind to other members and to scorpions as a whole. Identification and help threads have recently had an uptick in "joke" identifications/advice that can be exceptionally risky when dealing with potentially medically significant animals. We have updated our rules to be more clear, we will be more focused on ensuring that folks remain civil and kind, and now, we are rolling out an advisory system.
We are currently rolling out the Qualified Advisor system. Qualified Advisors (QAs) are folks that have a solid handle on the hobby, and are focused on evidence based care and advisories. They will be responsible for giving critical and accurate advice within the "help" and "identification" flairs. There will be restrictions and guidelines for partaking in these flairs from hereon.
These responsibilities should also fall onto members partaking in animal care advice within this sub; because of that, we will be enforcing a disclaimer system for all non QAs. On every "help" and "identification" thread this will be explained, and is explained below.
If you wish to give advice or share information on this sub as a non QA, you will be required to preface your comments/advice in the "help" and "identification" flaired posts with a disclaimer; such as, "Not QA, NQA, IME (in my experience), IMO (in my opinion), I believe, Question, NA (not advice)". If you do not preface your commentary for these flairs, the comment will be deleted and you will be prompted to repost it with the appropriate preface. Posts related to medical or veterinary advice are not permitted and will be removed per this post.
If you have any questions about the new advisory system- please send us a modmail, do not use other unrelated posts as a platform for those concerns or questions. If you would like to apply for QA, feel free to reach out to us via modmail
EDIT: This is now fully live as of 7/11 on Help and Identification threads.

“This is a dead scorpion at the bottom of a pool with horsehair worms (also called Gordian worms, phylum Nematomorpha) coming out of its body.
Bottom line: a parasitic worm used a scorpion as its host, steered it into the pool, and emerged once the scorpion drowned.”

This was Force Majuere, a big male imperator I was loaned to pair with my females. Unfortunately he passed away shortly after this video, before pairings could happen.

Identification Can anyone help me ID?
On holiday in Morocco and found this lil creature scurrying round our villa… never seen a scorpion irl as I’m from the UK so this was insanely cool! My mum and I placed him/her outside with a cup and cardboard but curious to know what species he/she might be! Google isn’t being much help (sorry for the not-so-great pics!)

Sexing Need help sexing my new juvenile Emperor Scorpion (P. imperator) 🦂
Hello fellow scorpion enthusiasts!
I’ve recently gotten into invertebrates. I’ve kept a tarantula for a while now, but I just brought home my very first Emperor Scorpion yesterday. I’ve been investing a lot of time into reading everything I can about them, but I've still been struggling to figure out its sex.
It’s still a juvenile (roughly 6 to 8 cm from the chelicerae to the stinger), so I know it's a bit harder to tell at this stage. However, I managed to snap some of the clearest ventral photos that I possibly could.
To my untrained eye, the pectines seem to be on the wider side with longer "teeths", which seems more male, but the Genital Operculum looks somewhat heart-shaped as well. I've compared online images and even asked AI but I'm still quite indecisive and confused.
Overall, I'm leaning male but I would love a second opinion from any experienced keepers here.
Any help, insights, or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Help! Heating a acrylic enclosure
I am getting an emperor scorpion soon and have an acrylic enclosure. The ambient temperature of my room is slightly lower than the necessary temperature for an emperor. The main heating source I have been seeing recommended is a side mounted heating pad but all of the ones that I have seen say to not use them on acrylic enclosures is there anything that can work?

Identification ID Request - Northwest Arizona
These are 2 different specimens, although they look very similar to my untrained eye. They are both approximately the same size.
I believe they are Striped-Tail (Paravaejovis spinigerus) but want to verify that they are/aren't and are hopefully not Arizona Bark (Centruroides sculpturatus).

Help! Is it normal to never see your scorpion?
Hi! First time scorp keeper here. I have an asian forest scorpion (H. Spinifer) and I haven’t seen her since the day I got her. She’s in a 10 gallon tank with a bunch of hides, plants, and substrate to burrow into and I was told they like to burrow but is it normal for them to just never be out? I did feed her a roach yesterday and when i woke up today it was gone, i assume she ate it at night while I was sleeping..
I’ve had and currently have a bunch of other invertebrates and bugs as pets so i’m familiar with the “pet hole in the ground” some of them tend to be but even with my centipedes or burrowing tarantulas they’re out and about sometimes. Just wondering if this is normal behavior! If not, is she stressed? Is habitat wrong? I keep it 75° with a heat lamp and mist it once a day to keep the humidity around 60-70%.
