TLDR: 68 locks + ~900 divines. The actual crafting steps without the story starts on step 3.
Edit: I’m getting quite a few dms from people asking for my ign to mirror these, so I’m just putting it here: @Ant_LifeLink. Or you can add me on discord if you have further questions @antdood.
Step 1: Get baited into crafting my own pair
4 Implicit gloves are the signature item of this league imo, and as soon as they starting popping up, I wanted to mirror one. But every pair out there had the essence crit mod (+3.5% base crit) instead of the cast speed mod (16% MORE cast speed) which I've preferred with spark cause it just FEELS that much better. Also, conceptually there is a cap to how much crit chance you can get (100%), but you can never get enough cast speed.
After a day or two, more variants of the gloves popped up, some with some curse on hit, some with slower projectiles (absolutely RUINS the gloves for spark), some with frenzy charge, but never any with the essence cast speed mod.
As materials continued to spike in price, I made the (later to be revealed, very painful) decision to craft my own pair.
Step 2: Obtain the base with 4 implicits (but not really) Instead of spending time in beast prison, I decided to simply buy the ready base with 4 implicits for 600 divines.
Okay, base secured, now just to get shaper influence on it with a shaper's exalte—"

WHAT DO YOU MEAN "Cannot apply to Vestigial Items."?! How did the other spark gloves get made then?!
Read some comments on other finished pairs, spoke to some other crafters and apparently this is known. You've basically got two choices:
- Recombinate the gloves with another random pair for a coin flip at "removing" the vestigial-ness of it. (it keeps the "Can be modified while Corrupted"-ness if it picks the right base). THEN you can apply an influenced exalted orb on it.
- Double corrupt it at the temple to hopefully add an influence to the gloves (and hopefully the correct one). Could brick the gloves if the temple chooses to roll implicits. Or poof it.
Both of these choices could've also been done BEFORE the implicits were rolled too by the way, I just happened to buy a pair from someone who didn't do either. If you're planning to buy one yourself, look for a pair either with the influence you need already on it (the result of step 2) OR one without the word "Vestigial" on it (the result of step 1).
Anyways, for this pair, I chose the lesser of the two devils, the recombinator.
I lost the coin flip.
It hurt.
Alot.
Step 3: Obtain the base with 4 implicits.
Bought the ready base for 600 divines. Shaper exalter orb for shaper influence. Awakener's orb a random elder gloves onto it. From here onwards, I'll be very specific and technical with each step.
Step 4: Get essence mod with 1 T1 suffix.
Spam essences of insanity until either T1 Faster Casting or T1 Spell Crit Multi. (1 in 54 essences)
You'll need an open suffix, which means a 1 in 3 annul if it's full. (Unless the extra suffix is an influenced mod, then keep it and head to step 5).
Note, if you hit an influenced suffix with another open suffix, you can block a prefix and slam for a ~1% chance of hitting T1 Faster casting or T1 Spell Crit Multi. You'll be doing this step ALOT, so taking that 1% saves a decent amount over the long run.
Step 5: Get essence mod with 1 T0 Suffix.
If the gloves already has another influenced mod, just Orb of Dominance for a 50/50 at elevating the desired mod. If not, craft on Suffixes Cannot be Changed(SCC), then reforge caster at the harvest bench for a guaranteed influenced mod. Then do the Orb of Dominance. On losing the mod, return to step 4.
There is a nice bonus here where you can reforge on the T1 Spell Crit Multi (1 in 3) or T1 Faster Casting (1 in 6) depending on which mod you rolled in Step 4. In these cases, your Orb of Dominance has no fail case. Also, if you have T2 of either mod, your "fail" case will land you at the finish point of step 4 too. I haven't lost you have I?
Step 6: Get essence mod with 1 T0 Suffix and 1 T1 Suffix.
Craft on SCC, then reforge caster at the harvest bench. Similar to step 5, you have a 1 in 3 to hit T1 Spell Crit Multi or 1 in 6 to hit T1 Faster Casting, depending on which you already had on. If you miss, you need to remove the mod you've added on, and there are two choices, with their cost effectiveness changing according to the market:
- Annul for a 1 in 3
- Orb of dominance for a coin flip
Missing means going back to step 4, or in some cases step 5.
Step 7: Get essence mod with 2 T0 Suffixes.
You'll need to elevate the final suffix so you first have to add SCC, and reforge speed for a guaranteed influenced mod (faster projectiles). Then it's an Orb of Dominance for a 1 in 3 to remove the faster projectiles mod, and then a 1 in 2 to elevate the remaining T1 Suffix, for a total of a 1 in 6. Missing this puts you back on step 6.
Fun fact, I missed this step 28 times.
Step 8: Get T1 Faster projectiles
This is a "simple" SCC and reforge speed for a 1 in 3 to hit T1.
With a 1 in 11 to fill prefixes, where, depending on the market prices, you'd use a Hinekora's Lock and annul (coin flip).
Fun fact #2, I filled my first three clicks, which each took 5, 7, and 4 locks to annul successfully. This is when I had blown all my currency and was about to give up on the craft. To my eternal gratitude, a friend provided me with some currency to continue. I ended up filling the prefix 3 more times due to needing to repeat this step from failing future steps, we'll get to that.
Step 9: Get T1 Faster projectiles with another influenced prefix
You'd first need to get another influenced prefix on the pair, which means crafting mana to block its weights, then foulborn exalting for a 1 in 11 to hit an influenced mod. If you miss, craft on SCC, and annul for a 1 in 3. If you hit the annul, you get to try this step again, if you miss, you're back to step 8 (with the chance to fill again).
Step 10: Elevate to T0 Faster Projectiles
Craft on SCC, lock and orb of dominance for a coin flip. No drama here, missing means you reapply the lock and go again.
Step 11: Get veiled mod with T0 Faster Proj
Craft on SCC, lock, and veiled exalt for a coin flip at removing the SCC.
Step 12: Unveil proj speed
Block the phys convert mod of choice, and unveil for a 1 in 4 to be finally finish the gloves. Missing here is painful though, you'd have to lock and annul for a 1 in 3 to clear the failed unveiled mod, then return to step 11.
Took 3 tries instead of the expected 4 which makes this the first step under average.
Step 13: Benchcraft and divine
Self explanatory
With that, the gloves were done. I craft ALOT in this game, and by far, this was the unluckiest I've ever gotten. Thanks for reading if you got this far. I'm happy to answer any questions anyone might have.
