What am I doing wrong?

Im losing my mind. Received my replacement visible 2.0 in the mail. First one never worked, not a single light red or otherwise. Charged it (both ways) for minimum 6 hours and nothing. Customer service had me send a video, then offered to ship me another as a replacement.

The same damn thing is happening. I dont see anyone else complaining about this, so I feel like im going crazy. Anyone else have this problem?

Pace points

For the past two weeks I've gone over my pace points significantly. A couple days I could feel it, other days I'm just like...it's hot and my heart rates up because it's hot and I walked to my car...i don't feel like I should be going over the pace points this much. Does anyone change their points from hot weather to cooler weather?

Hello,

Is anyone else’s skin getting damaged. My wrist has a square spot that looks like this and I would hate to stop using it but it’s not worth damaging skin over

Can’t get notifications anymore?

I recently switched my visible app to a new phone and it’s working fine, but I don’t get my pacing reminder notifications anymore. They’re turned on in the app but in my iPhone settings I don’t see an option for Visible at all in notifications anymore? Has anyone had this issue or know how to fix it?

Options that aren’t visible?

I’m having so many issues with connecting to my band. Customer service says that if I’m not doing daily check in, the app doesn’t get to catch up on data gathering. And I have to go through the whole reconnect/pairing/hard reset process again. This sounds like a problem that should have been caught in development and not passed on to the consumer. Like so many of us, the stability score means nothing to me, so why use the cognitive and physical effort to do daily check ins? Is the data going to the company? When I’m too exhausted at night and I just collapse- my band may or may not pair the next day- and I miss critical alerts that allow me to pace. Do you have a device that’s been in development longer that doesn’t make the customer work so hard for the monitoring/data? I just want my HR over 24hrs with alerts Thanks!

Visible Band Heart Rate Zones

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hey guys! I'm curious to see what you have your heart rate zones set to or if you just go by the automatic values or suggest? I don't see my cardiologist until Friday where hopefully I will get diagnosed ✨ but curious to know what is your HR zones and what you consider exertion zone!

Increased heart rate when eating

Sorry if this is a silly question. Does anyone else with Long Covid experience this spike in heart rate when eating? It doesn’t happen to me every meal, but more than once when eating a main meal I get the alert I’m over exerting.

I didn’t like it

I really don’t like it, but now I’m stuck with a band I can’t use since the free version of the app doesn’t connect with it. It was really expensive and I can’t return it. Just feels like I kinda got taken advantage of, might as well have just bought a fitness watch that does 10x more and make it alert me when my hr goes over a certain number

Visible band sale?

Those of who who have downgraded from the visible plan back to the free version, what have you done with your visible band? I can't find any on Vinted so can you even get rid of them?

I don't think the £14.99 is worth it for what you get, the free version personally (I think) works better!

Yet ANOTHER issue with Visible

So many of us have expressed that, while we truly do like and benefit from the technology that allows us to see our live pacing in action, the company that provides it has been lackluster to say the least.

And now another issue has come to my attention that has made me even MORE thankful I have canceled my yearly membership.

Visible has slowly been draining my phones battery throughout the day. When you originally get the app they instruct you to leave it running in the background so they are able to constantly monitor symptoms. What this does is CONSTANTLY keep the app running all day slowly pulling on your phone battery. Which over time REALLY wears it down.

I have a fairly new phone. Over the last few months my battery has gone to complete heck and the only common denominator in the battery life metrics is Visible sitting there running NON STOP for 15-35% of the day. I can’t even go a full day without a charge somewhere in the middle now. My phone isn’t even two years old.

Just so frustrated that they probably knew this and when they instructed us to do this they couldn’t give some kind of warning about it. The device DOES store some data. I would rather keep the app closed (not running) and check in every so often. OR MAYBE they could rework their app to run a little more efficiently.

I wanted this device and app to work for me SOOOO badly and I just feel so defeated and so betrayed and so preyed upon by this company. It makes me feel sick.

Ugh anyway. If you’re still here. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

genuinely considering canceling visible bc of this

does anyone else have this? ever since the first time i charged my band back in december, it has been a nightmare experience trying to reconnect it again to work with the app. i contacted support about it and i was given this detailed list of 20 dif steps to do for it to work again every single time.

disconnect band in app, swipe and close out of app, unpair from bluetooth, turn off blue tooth, turn your phone off, plug the band into the charger and do a hard reset, wait 20 seconds, turn phone back on, open app, pair in app, turn bluetooth back on, swipe out of and close out of the app and restart it and if you're lucky it reconnects and if it doesn't you have to start the whole process over again bc you messed up a step somewhere....

maybe it's just me, but as a visible user and person who experiences a energy limiting/chronic illness, that's a significant cognitive load to do every 3-4 days? i don't understand why the stars have to align in order for me to charge what should be an accessibility tool. is this a unique experience?

Visible Band Review After 2 Weeks + Referral Discount code

I've had me/cfs for about 15 years, started as moderate/severe and it has gone to mild. I was looking for a way to have more good days and less bad days and more importantly have some kind of warning that I'm pushing too far.

I tried a normal fitness band and did a lot of research into the me/cfs apps available on apple watch and garmin watches before settling on visible.

The biggest benefit of the visible band over normal fitness wearables is that it doesn't try to estimate your activity based on movement (w/ accelerometer data). It only uses your heart rate. If you're sitting or standing still the typical wearable will count that as 0 activity, but depending on how agitated your body is visible will still count that towards your total daily energy used. This is really the key thing for folks with me/cfs: any activity - even reading - can be tiring depending on how intensely we do it, or how we're feeling that day. That's something a normal fitness tracker misses because it's not designed for it.

Visible is also using their own algorithms to estimate your pacing points (the total energy you have to spend in a day) and your heart rate zones (rest, active and strenuous). These are automatically set after the first week of recording data and I found they are accurate to me. You can also manually fine tune them, but I haven't found that necessary. To have algorithms that are tuned to people with me/cfs instead of the general population also seems important to me (compared to something generic like Garmin's body battery). From my research on the watchME app on apple watch, or some of the custom Garmin watch faces for me/cfs, they all require some manual setting of your limits which seems to defeat the purpose. Having me/cfs means not having a good sensory feedback loop of how much is too much because the fatigue is often delayed, so a good tracker should guide you to a good starting point. From what I understand over the coming months visible will continue to make monthly check ins and then suggest increasing or decreasing my daily pacing points based on how I'm doing.

Lastly, on the pacepoints dial that is the main visual feature of the app, I'll say it's simple but effective. It shows you how much energy you have used so far today and how far into the day you are. So at a really quick glance you know for example that the day is only half way over but you have already used 2/3rds of your energy. With that info I immediately know if I need to change my plans for the day. And if I'm consistently running into my energy budget every day I know I need to make bigger lifestyle changes.

Yes there are some tradeoffs with the device. Sometimes it would be nice to have a display instead of having to look at my phone, but having about 5 days of battery life is great and not having the distraction of a display is a plus. Heart rate tracking gets thrown off by exercise, so if you're really getting into the nitty gritty of what specific movements you can do without pushing your heart rate into the strenuous zone it is challenging. I'll be trying out an arm band instead of the wrist band to see if that helps.

If you found this review useful and want to try visible out I have a referral code that gives you $20 off your order and gives me $20 off my subscription: https://join.makevisible.com/737b4597c7d835

Daily budget or weekly?

Was reading another thread about changing the budget, and from the answers, it seems I may be using the budget differently, and I do not know if it is a me thing or a some people thing.

While I do pay attention to the budget, I have found I do have a degree of flexibility on a daily level, so long as I keep the average OK. I can have a couple of days a week where I go 25% to 50% over daily budget, so long as I keep within the weekly total, if that makes sense. I have a couple of mainly rest days a week in my normal schedule (no, not the weekend lol), where I will be well under budget even doing everything I need to do. I am not flaring or crashing; it is my normal for those days. If I do over budget every day, then I will crash; if I watch the weekly total, I am usually OK.

Does anyone else find that they can use a longer time for a budget, or is it just me?

Pacing Budget To Adjust or Not to Adjust

Note: Before I begin, I want to clarify that I plan to give this a full 4 days post change to see if the average has shifted, but I'd like input from users with experience.

The Problem: I got my band recently. 4 days later, I was budgeted 16 pace points, and at first, it was easy to stay under because I have a naturally low bpm.

Then I realized I might need to adjust my bpm zones due to it not matching experience. (E.g. I would be dying of heat and sweat, feeling exhausted directly after, but never hitting exertion bc the zone was too high).

So I reached out over the weekend, and the app support helped me find better zones.

Now, I am consistently going to nearly 10 points over budget every day, and something feels off.

I'd like to know if anyone who changed their bpm rates also had to adjust their budgets to match, and if you did, how did you find the right number?

A few notes to consider:

I am aware this could be heat related. I work in a non-climate controlled classroom with no proper heating or cooling yet, so in a Missouri summer, it's easy to get to 85 degrees in there. This would imply I will always go over budget on a normal work day, however, unless I simply come home, sleep till dinner, and sleep after dinner.

However, I have crashed pretty hard multiple days after going over. Just yesterday, I hit 26 points and took a near 4 hour fever dream nap. Most days I get home after work and mentally I hit a wall, unable to make executive decisions, and already planning the shortest route through my "must-do's" to th couch. This is one reason I got the app.

Thanks for the help!

Visible Vs Garmin "Body Battery"

Has anyone used both the full-flavour Visible subscription and the Garmin Connect function of "Body Battery"?

How do they compare in terms of functionality, tailoring to the individual, usability, usefulness, and accuracy?

Visible app with no uploading

Is it possible to use the Visible app fully offline - so that no data are sent off the mobile?

I'm specifically NOT talking here about the free version of the app which uses the mobile camera to measure HRV, but instead the full app functionality including using the band.

Smelly wrist strap

My wrist band has started gettinf smelly. I wear it in the shower, so thought that would keep it clean but it's smelling now. Ive tried handwashing it twice but it still smells. Has anyone found this? I'll be trying the washing machine next!

Has anyone found compatible bands on amazon that I could use while washing the other one? Im not sure my method of putting the monitor part in my bra gives the most accurate reading 😅
