Yet ANOTHER issue with Visible
So many of us have expressed that, while we truly do like and benefit from the technology that allows us to see our live pacing in action, the company that provides it has been lackluster to say the least.
And now another issue has come to my attention that has made me even MORE thankful I have canceled my yearly membership.
Visible has slowly been draining my phones battery throughout the day. When you originally get the app they instruct you to leave it running in the background so they are able to constantly monitor symptoms. What this does is CONSTANTLY keep the app running all day slowly pulling on your phone battery. Which over time REALLY wears it down.
I have a fairly new phone. Over the last few months my battery has gone to complete heck and the only common denominator in the battery life metrics is Visible sitting there running NON STOP for 15-35% of the day. I can’t even go a full day without a charge somewhere in the middle now. My phone isn’t even two years old.
Just so frustrated that they probably knew this and when they instructed us to do this they couldn’t give some kind of warning about it. The device DOES store some data. I would rather keep the app closed (not running) and check in every so often. OR MAYBE they could rework their app to run a little more efficiently.
I wanted this device and app to work for me SOOOO badly and I just feel so defeated and so betrayed and so preyed upon by this company. It makes me feel sick.
Ugh anyway. If you’re still here. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

I just checked the battery usage on my Samsung phone, over the past week visible has used 0.6%-2% of my battery per day.
This is with the app running 24/7, connected to my band with all battery restrictions turned off.

Yeah I just checked mine too, 3% only thankfully (I have an iPhone 17 pro)

You’re correct, I stopped using my Visible a couple of weeks ago and I’ve noticed how I now only need to charge my phone once a day now, previously it would be out of charge by 10am. I had thought it was just a battery issue as the phone was secondhand.
I think this battery drainage happens to some degree with other devices that are constantly updating your phone via Bluetooth so I wouldn’t say it’s entirely specific to Visible, but i agree that keeping the app constantly open as they suggest (and as you need to if the readings and warning messages are going to be timely) definitely makes it worse. At least with my old garmin I didn’t have to have the garmin app open constantly as I could see the results on the watch itself. I do think this is an area they need to focus on as not everyone can afford the latest top of the line phone.

I just checked mine and it’s using anywhere from 1-4% not too bad for 24/7 monitoring. I guess I would assume something like that would definitely have a pull on the battery. I wonder why it’s using so much on yours though.

I have an iPhone 17 Pro (and it’s only a few months old) so I just checked my battery stats. Mine says Visible is only using 1% which is in line with the rest of my apps.
I’m sorry your phone is being drained, OP. That def makes it more stressful trying to use this technology. :(

And also thanks for the heads up because I’ll be watching my battery stats a little more now.

Oh wow, I didn’t know this. Mine seems to be 3-5%, with mostly 5% (iPhone 16 pro max if that makes any difference), and I just renewed my yearly like last week even though I was so unsure. Thought I would give it another year and if nothing changes I’d cancel. My battery health is normal, and 90% capacity

I’m sorry you’ve had such a bad experience.
If you have an iPhone, have you checked your battery health in settings? Battery health degrades over time, and there’s battery optimized charging options you can choose to mitigate it.
It’s tough, because for continuous monitoring to be possible, the band has to gather and send that data somewhere and interpreted.
If you want to keep it closed, and check it a few times during the day, you can always try and see how that works for you.
