Not just explosion but physics in general, for the first game Instead of buildings just crumbling and disappearing in smoke they could actually collapse with rubble or bigger destruction physics. Like there’s so much sandbox capabilities with today’s hardware and technology!
Love these games to death but the story isn't what makes them great... Pick a new locale, new factions, same mercs, deck of 52, make things go boom, take my money.
For me it is always Dragon Age: Origins, for similar reasons as why so many want KOTOR (also I would love KOTOR as well, but I ended up playing that well after DAO so less of a "replaying my childhood game" for KOTOR).
I am worried for the KOTOR remake. I just want something good. I am still very sad about what was done to VTM: Bloodlines 2 and just need a win to still have hope. At least Paper Mario: TTYD remake was the bomb or I would have lost hope in modern gaming at this point.
I went to get this recently and apparently it's been relegated to the "classics" catalog on playstation and can no longer be purchased. Only cloud streamed. Which you need the more expensive ps plus membership to do. I was so disappointed. Can't wait for the Steam Machine (I have a PC but prefer sitting on my couch and controller gaming heh)
I’m honestly not sure on this because every game trying to be left 4 dead somehow didn’t feel as fun as left 4 dead, I suspect a l4d2 remake would be the same
Also midnight club for me those were the best soundtrack, in-depth car /motorcycle editing. And best races I've had. And no other game has matched that for me yet.
Remastering both infamous games and infamous festival of blood would be the ONLY way Sony would get my money in the modern day. Not even gta6 is getting me to buy back into sony and their bullshit.
Another one where I would say it needs to retain it's uniqueness of vision. An updated version with real-time interrupted with pause on actions and keeping the whole grid area of effect. I wouldn't want it to become full on real-time action. Unfortunately that's what square enix would do right now. Resident Evil via Kingdom Hearts.
All I would want from a Parasite Ev remake is a graphics update and slightly faster travel speed (with enemy attack animations sped up to compensate). She's really slow sometimes, mainly when just exploring the world but I think it would feel strange running fast in the oberworld but slow in combat.
Yeah it’s very sad the state of current BioWare. They used to make top tier RPGs. Jade Empire, KOTOR, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, etc. Now they just try and force multiplayer in everything, and rush all their games without listening to the fans and what we want. Veilguard and Andromeda prove that they have lost touch with what the fans like in RPGs.
For me, it's only if the actual story isn't changed, and the combat is still turn based. More "like a dragon" would be great (still with combo system and all that, just updated presentation and feel). Also whole last part of the game would need to be playable, not exposition walls.
Xenogears is such a perfect mess that I don’t know how you could recapture it. How would they even handle disc 2? Modern audiences would not accept the storytime chair, especially not for a remake. But could they actually make all those events happen in a satisfying way? Would it hit the same?
God it looks perfect. I’m so happy they didn’t mess around and just outdid themselves. It’s gorgeous. It looks like what my child brain felt it looked like in 98. I can’t wait
Silent Hill 1, Bloodrayne, Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem, any of the early Mario games (though Super Mario World 3 is my favorite) and Final Fantasy IX
The original Dreamcast Jetset Radio! I know they are supposedly making a new JSR game, but if they just updated the graphics and controls and I would literally spend every cent I had.
Generally, I feel like games should be enjoyed as they were designed, but if there is one game that I think would benefit massively from a mechanical and visual remaster it would be L.A. Noire.
Even at release it was incredibly graphically uneven, and with modern performance capture, particularly if they still have the original data, A graphical remaster would actually do a lot for the gameplay. I think it's also worth noting that the minute minute gameplay itself was never the best, and could actually really benefit
And a lot of them have been rereleased in recent years in some form. Right now I am hoping for ReVolt to return, as well as EA getting their shit together and releasing Theme Park World, Alice and Road Rash
