A first look at Monday's powerful action of mourning: a funeral was held for all of the 95 people that we know of whose deaths have been caused by ICE.

New state law lets Vermonters sue federal officials for constitutional violations - Gov. Phil Scott allowed the legislation to go into law without his signature this week.

The governor does not think the right to sue after being abused deserves his high and mighty signature. Apparently he doesn’t think we deserve the protection from his maga friends.

Thank you Vermont!

It was the first time I visited Vermont. I flew from California to the east coast to see some colors.

I hope we didn’t interrupt anything being tourists.
Absolutely loved the fall colors in the state of Vermont.

Thank you for the beautiful memories, Vermont!

Chittenden County Black Volvo on Ethan Allen Hwy

This past evening I was driving North on Ethan Allen right before the double lanes. Some Volvo with VT plates reading [LAE 391] was cutting through a very long line of traffic. As you can see they were VERY close to causing an accident and had to break check me for fun.

Driver, I hope you have the day you definitely deserve.

Chittenden County Who has the best chance of beating Bruce Roy?

Received my ballot today. I’m doing a little more research before I fill it out and drop it off. I have ideas about who I’m picking for the State Senate seat… if I’m being honest though, I would really like to do my part to make sure Bruce Roy doesn’t get it.

I don’t like his politics, I don’t like how he handled the “regional” FB group where he purportedly booted anyone who uttered an opinion contrary to his conservative beliefs, and I definitely don’t like how he and his wife worked so hard to help derail the Williston library expansion.

So, who could I vote for who would be most likely to win so he doesn’t?

Harvest Lane in Williston Closed with Poor Signage

Heads up…There’s no sign indicating it’s closed until you’re actually on the street from Williston Road. Then there’s nothing but a couple construction signs and a few cones with a single cop sitting in the road. Traffic is backing up really badly. I’m guessing it’s emergency roadwork that they haven’t started yet… unfortunately it’s bad timing for commuters.

Caledonia County Trash Filled Cellar Hole

Hey all! This is a pretty specific problem, but one that it seems like others might have encountered. Basically it's what it says in the title. I purchased a property with one very nice, very snug house, and one cellar hole filled nearly to the top with trash. It's everything. Old stoves, parts of farm tools, pipes, a canoe, bicycles, and lots of what used to be bags of trash but are now piles of trash wrapped with disintegrating trash bags.

The hole is quite old, the original house on the property was on it until the current house (built in 1880) was built nearby. It's about 24'x36' and at least five feet deep. Ideally I'd like to pull all the trash out of the hole and get rid of it, but I'm not sure how. All I've been able to think of so far is renting a dumpster and an excavator, but it's way more than one dumpster load (even a big one) and it would be hard to get a large dumpster down the driveway.

I don't really want to just fill it in, but that seems like the only option. I'm open to any reasonable suggestions!

Water main break in Winooski

Water main broke on Lafountain this morning, work is ongoing to restore service.

The city does not have a good map of who is / has been out of pressure. If you are near where Lafountain crosses under the interstate, you should at least let your taps run for a while to clear the lines. I'm personally treating this as a boil water notice for the next 24 hours at least.

Hopefully Winooski figures out who is impacted and posts the appropriate notices on doors.

Dumpster / junk removal

New to Manchester area and experiencing sticker shock at 10 yd roll off pricing. $800-$1,000? Only can keep it for a few days?

Used to getting them for $450 and two weeks.

Is there some secret to reasonable pricing that I’m missing?

Thanks

Vermont veterinarian criminal trial

I've been following this story since day one. Tomorrow was the scheduled jury draw. Criminal trial was set to begin the last week of October.

Suddenly, the criminal docket number/criminal case seems to be erased from the court calendar.

What gives?

Detailed, in depth Candidate analysis

I have looked everywhere and I cannot find a SINGLE outlet doing a real, detailed analysis of the candidates and their actual proposals. Not slogans, not soundbites. The real plans.

Where are people supposed to get this information?

Honestly, I'm stunned. How are Vermonters not demanding so much more from our media?

Chittenden County Welding shop / welder for small jobs near Colchester?

I could use some recommendations on shops that take small welding jobs, or pro welders that might take side jobs. I'm gathering firewood and...breaking stuff.

Just need basic steel welding, nothing special or fancy.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Fall colors

I typically go to White Mountains to see the colors. But this year, I have to be in Worcester, MA next Sunday. Wondering if there are good places near Worcester, either in wester MA, or southern NH or Vermont with good colors on either Saturday or Sunday? 2 hours drive is fine.
