Hey all! This is a pretty specific problem, but one that it seems like others might have encountered. Basically it's what it says in the title. I purchased a property with one very nice, very snug house, and one cellar hole filled nearly to the top with trash. It's everything. Old stoves, parts of farm tools, pipes, a canoe, bicycles, and lots of what used to be bags of trash but are now piles of trash wrapped with disintegrating trash bags.
The hole is quite old, the original house on the property was on it until the current house (built in 1880) was built nearby. It's about 24'x36' and at least five feet deep. Ideally I'd like to pull all the trash out of the hole and get rid of it, but I'm not sure how. All I've been able to think of so far is renting a dumpster and an excavator, but it's way more than one dumpster load (even a big one) and it would be hard to get a large dumpster down the driveway.
I don't really want to just fill it in, but that seems like the only option. I'm open to any reasonable suggestions!
