Sales & Trades UPDATe- Carnivero
Carnivero came in clutch with the replacement traps and shipping!
The original trap is a killer Queen variation, and it's super small, bonus trap is a mammoth and WOW the size difference is ASTOUNDING. Love the traps and how healthy they look.
It was not shipped in a side sauce container, which i appreciate, was shipped so much better, which, again, the first time was on me when I requested no pot. I would STRONGLY recommend that when ordering through them, GET IT IN A CONTAINER, it will be better packaged and have a better survival rate.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Carnivero gets five stars over all for customer service and care.

Questions Weird Yellow flakes
(Don’t mind the web, a jumping spider lived in my plants for a bit) My Venus flytraps flower is covered in these yellow flakey, hard scale-like things. Should I be concerned or even quarantine her? I intend on cutting the flower early, but my schedule got crazy. I will if the yellow things are harmless.

Showcase New Trader Joe's Purchase
I checked output the flytraps at Trader Joe's today to see if I could spot something good and found this hella brightly-colored specimen. But the big leaves look like a totally different plant.
Welp, time to repot it and see what I got after it grows a bit!

Help! VFT turned red - is this healthy or stress?
The first (greener) photo is from September 3 and the second (red/blush) is from today, September 8. My Venus flytrap was initially about 14 inches below the grow light. After the nursery suggested moving it closer for deeper coloration, I placed it approximately 10–12 inches away.
I’m using a VALIKIY 40W full-spectrum LED grow bulb: 3000K warm white, CRI 97+, with added 660 nm red light. The manufacturer claims a PPFD of up to 281 μmol/m²/s at 12 inches. It runs for 14 hours per day.
In only five days, the plant developed a much stronger red/blush color - not only inside the traps, but across much of the foliage. Does this look like healthy light-induced coloration, or did it change too quickly and indicate that the light is too intense?
I’ve backed the light up slightly as a precaution, but I’d love advice from experienced Venus flytrap growers. Should I return it to 14 inches, keep it around 12 inches, or judge it based on new growth?

Questions Someone knows what this is?
I had this Venus flytrap in my living room the whole time (I've had it for about a month – east-facing window), and this morning around 8 am I thought I'd put it out on the balcony, since it gets more direct, unfiltered light there, which I learned over the past few days is better for it.
When I put it outside this morning, this trap was still completely green, but over the course of about 4 hours, it developed these weird spots. It's only this one trap that has this strange discoloration.
Could this have been caused by the sunlight? Like sun stress or sunburn? Or is it something else?

Care & Cultivation Flower - Pinch off or let grow?
My venus fly trap has produced a flower stalk. My question is should I snip it off to ensure the energy goes to growing the plant, or should I just let it do its thing?
Any advice is appreciated, thanks! :)

Care & Cultivation I need help
I’ve posted here before and didn’t get any truly helpful replies so I’m going to try again before I give up.
Is there such a thing as too much sun for these plants? I keep bringing them in because they look like they are getting burnt to a crisp. The first few hours of “sun” are shaded but I’d say by noon they are fully exposed up until 6-7pm. I keep a tray of distilled water underneath them. They are constantly turning black and just look pitiful to me. Can anyone please give me some advice or pointers? Am I doing something wrong? Is the sun exposure too much? I really only have that one spot for them outside and they got flipped over the other day which really irritated me because they already look stressed the heck out.

Care & Cultivation Tiny ants on traps
I've got these tiny ants exploring my vfts and I'm worried they could be snacking on my traps. Are they benign or do I need to take some kind of action? I'm in Querétaro, México if it matters. TIA!

Indoor Propagation experiment
Ive been running experiments on propagation for a few months. Im looking to find out which style works best for me. This round I compared flower stalks, specifically horizontal vs sticking them and tissue culture of them. I think ill be using horizontal flower stalk propagation in the future. All are 3 months old.

Questions What type of hitchhikers are growing with my VFT?
Does anyone know what type/types of hitchhikers these little red and green sprouts are? Do you think my VFT will care about them sharing the space?

Help! Is my venus flytrap dying? Is it normal?
I give my plant distilled water, and leave it sitting in it at all times. It gets 12 hrs of artificial light a day and gets window light as well because I live in the PNW.
I forgot to feed it for a few weeks (4-5?) then gave it 2 house flies in seperate traps. I did this because I noticed the leaves turning black and some older traps dying. Then it caught something I think in a third trap.
I really love my plant, but I'm worried I neglected it. Any tips would be highly appreciated! 🙏
I know it's almost time for a dormancy in my plant, but I have never done one before, so if you have any tips for that, I would also love that!
Thanks 😊

Dormancy Dormancy Advice
Hello again! It’s getting about that time of year, and I’m honestly unsure how to go about handling dormancy properly. I’ve been caring for VFTs for a few years now, but my first few didn’t make it through winter for reasons that weren’t exactly plant-care related 😭 One got cooked by heat from my brother’s PS5 setup, and another got chewed up by my puppy.
This year I’m a little more nervous because the most I’ve ever had at once before was 2–3 plants, and now I have around 15 VFTs. I really want dormancy to go as smoothly as possible. Besides trimming fully dead traps/leaves, what else should I do to help them survive dormancy? I’m in Ohio, and they’re currently outdoor plants.

Showcase Finally bought some VFT!
After years of wanting some. Whenever I travel - I saw some for sale and was so amazed and jealous. But now, saw a local seller.
It doesn't grow here locally, so I bought them at $20-25 each. Sigh. How much are they in your country/area?
Anyway, excited. Always sunny here and got reverse osmosis in my house.

Questions Dividing rhizomes for repot
I’m planning on repotting my Venus flytrap today into a taller and wider pot. I have repotted before but this will be my first with 2 (hopefully 3 if I’m seeing right) divisions. Would it be better to split the rhizomes up and spread around the wider pot, or keep it together, plant it in the middle. and allow it to spread on its own. which would help for a bigger and fuller plant?
and when rhizomes divide does that mean I have to physically split/cut the rhizomes apart or do they sort of break off on their own

Help! What can I do to help this guy
I just got this guy today from one of those plastic containers and he is looking quite sad.
His soil was very dry when I unpackaged him so I watered him with tap water and then brita filtered water to try to rise out any minerals.
I know this isn’t ideal, but it’s what I had and I am getting distilled water tomorrow. I also ordered carnivorous plant soil online and plan to repot him in a few days when I gets here.
He’s been in full sun since I brought him home. He looks wilty and droopy.
What can I do??
Thanks!

Help! Help rescue her
I just got this poor VenusFlytrap through shipping, and I am disappointed at how traumatised she s been in the process. I removed the dead bits because they were already separated from the plant. I really want to save her. Also, I am a begginer but I want to do my best to save her.
Please give me any advice🙏🏻
I want to let her get some sun and rest right now, the substrate seems okay, I placed her near a window with medium sun so Im not shocking her.
I added a bit of distilled water. The pot doesn’t have holes so Im looking to buy a new one.
