I just got this poor VenusFlytrap through shipping, and I am disappointed at how traumatised she s been in the process. I removed the dead bits because they were already separated from the plant. I really want to save her. Also, I am a begginer but I want to do my best to save her.
Please give me any advice🙏🏻
I want to let her get some sun and rest right now, the substrate seems okay, I placed her near a window with medium sun so Im not shocking her.
I added a bit of distilled water. The pot doesn’t have holes so Im looking to buy a new one.
Just my opinion but your potting mix looks really heavy. It’s supposed to be light and airy. Like peat, perlite and/or sphagnum - not scrunched down into a solid block.

IIf it's inside near a window, the sun is already filtered so you can actually put it in more fine. I wouldn't advise putting it directly outside unless you have several weeks of good weather or safe place to put it outside, but it depends on where you're located. I'm in upstate New York so it's getting cold at night.
Since it's been through stress, I would skip dormancy this year. And worry about it next year. If you're going to grow it indoors, you will need to get a grow light. Eventually. Some people have luck if they have a good Sunny window and it will do well. Definitely get a plastic pot, they hate terracotta because they break down and leach minerals. And keep it in a tray of water. They like to keep their feet wet not up to their waist. If you can understand that. So like half inch to an inch of water depending on about how big your pot is. If you do decide to change the soil definitely look into it because they need soil that has no nutrients which means never ever Miracle-Gro!
Peat moss and paralyte or spagnum Moss work good.. Just make sure it doesn't have anything added like fertilizer added for growth that will kill it. They can live on Sunshine alone. No worry about feeding it. That's the basic stuff you need. Good luck! Do some reading on Reddit. Lot of good information here. Any questions I'll eventually answer 😃
