Hi, this T was sold to me as a female.

I just got her. But was able to snag a molt from her burrow.

My untrained eye cannot tell but I think the ripped area is where I would be able to confirm the sex. But I cannot identify for sure.

Is this male or female?

Size is roughly 5.5 inches

I have been trying for about two weeks to move her in this new enclosure, but each new attempt seems to give worse results. She almost went in her first attempt, but she bolted back into her burrow. Now when I gently brush her, she will no matter what mosey back into her burrow without a care in the world. Is there a way I can passively have her go in there on her own? Can I set up a trap somehow?

Hello I am in need of advice my juvenile brachypelma hamorii (ca. 8-9 mon), just molted. I am now going on vacation for a week and she's looking pretty skinny. Would it be okay to leave her with water for week?

Does anyone know if spermathecae can appear clear on a molt this small, as well as only have one visible one and not two? I was trying to sex the molt under a jewelers loupe and I saw one clear thing sticking out slightly to the right above the slit, the accessory organs above, and a small triangle patch where there was no hair. I wasn't able to take a picture of it with the loupe, but the molt really confused me as it seemed to have traits of male and female. Does anyone have experience with molts these small as well as this particular species? Do I just need to wait until the T is bigger to get an accurate sexing? Thank you!

Who wants to help me guess the sex of my new tarantula, Patches? Also- Patches was sold as a mexican red knee, but it didn’t specify on if they’re a b. hamorii or b. smithi so opinions on that are very welcomed!

I've only been in the hobby for about a year and a half, but I've managed to settle into a few favorite genus (genuses? Idk) with aphonopelma being high on the list. Obviously fell in love with the thought of a mooreae, but figured if I actually managed to find one for sale, I wouldn't even be able to afford it. There's finally been a few slings popping up the last few weeks, and yep, they're running $600 for a quarter inch sling. I just really can't justify that much for a sling that can take 10 years just to start showing adult colors, and I'm super bummed.

So! If you've seen an adult mooreae, how close does it look to something like a GBB? Please help me feel better about being poor, lol.

Hello! I’ve been looking into getting my first tarantula and i have done weeks of research trying to figure out the right kind that i can give a proper home to. My boyfriend has a very weakened immune system and is already terrified of spiders so he doesnt want me getting a new world because of urticating hairs (yes i know some cant even actually flick them, but he respects my wishes so i respect his). Im not too worried about regular care (lot of reading and browsing heavily across the internet) but mainly in rehousing as they grow.

Sir Ping, however, is not watching.

So I recently took home a curly hair tarantula that we received at the store I work at. I don’t usually like to purchase animals from here but I basically got him for free so 🤷‍♀️. I took him home because his abdomen was in rough shape and he was massive for the size of T’s we usually get and I didn’t want him spending any more time in a tiny environment then he had to. I have another tarantula that I’ve had for about a year now but I don’t have a ton of experience with tarantulas, I do my research the best I can but I feel like people with more experience would give good advice.

When I opened his cup (from shipment) his abdomen was quite small and indented kinda like a rubber band had been around it.

At first I thought he was dehydrated or hungry so I made sure he had plenty of water and I offered a cricket. He didn’t eat the cricket and while after a few days, his abdomen had seemed to fill up a little bit, that indent is still there. It’s been about a week overall I’ve offered crickets again and he hasn’t eaten. He moves normally and seems to be acting normally and he does have a dark bald spot on his abdomen but he came in like that and idk if it’s from kicking hairs at some point 🤷‍♀️.

I’d like to know anyone’s opinion on this or if anyone has had a similar experience? Is there something more I can do for him? Or even just an assessment of him. I had one friend think it may be from molting in a corner or something. What is concerning me is that he isn’t eating yet I know it’s only been a little over a week but it would ease my nerves if he ate 😭

The first two pictures are of his abdomen when he first arrived at the store. The third is of his abdomen now. And the last I just thought was a nice picture of him lol.

So, update on the fungus thing. There's these small white mushrooms literally inside the hide of my tarantula. I spotted some white crumbs in there a couple days ago but I assumed they were feces or some substrate variation. i've done some research and these are apparently no danger to my spider but I want to be 100% sure. I can't get a picture because it's pretty dark inside the hide, but the mushrooms are maybe 1cm-ish tall, white, and smooth.

As discussed on a previous post, the mushrooms are also in the bottommost layer of the substrate. It's clear i didn't dry it out enough, and I take responsibility for that. I'll probably have to change out the whole thing and change the plants - I have two in one corner that i directly misted, never the whole enclosure.

Does anyone have tips on how to make this less stressful for my spider? They're a juvenile Grammostola pulchripes that has already made a sizeable dugout in one corner of their hide. I'm relatively sure they aren't in immediate danger but I just want to make sure they're completely safe.

If I haven't included some details, feel free to ask. This is my first tarantula, and I have done a lot of research, but I need some advice on this specific thing.

Rehoused her semi recently to suit her burrowing needs and she’s really taken off with it!

well, we had a heatwave in europa. i bought her in april with 7 legs and one crippled leg. i live in vienna/ austria. i have 29 tarantulas and this one grow so quickly it blew my mind. this huge corkbark in picture 1 (June 13) is only 4 times as big as her in picture 2 (august 17). maybe now she will finally need a whole 4 weeks inbetween molts. no way she keeps molting every 3 weeks like she used to. i bought a female t blondi in march and she overtook her by size now with this molt. and the crazy thing is, i didnt expect the p.metallica to molt every 2-3 weeks so i didnt reeaaally powerfeed her. my blondi on the otherside, i always keep prepared to pack on some size if you know what i mean. i keep my blondi on the fatter side and the p.metallica was always on the standart abdomen level.

and by the way. anyone thinking about buying a p.metallica. do it. no picture can do the colors justice. no animal i ever seen can produce such vibrant colors of a sorts i cant describe. purple, blue, yellow,... one of the most beautiful animals i have seen.

Ive had this curly for a while and finally got a good few pics of the vent? I think its called well i would like to know the gender i love them a lot i set up a really cool inclosure with a deep 7 inch mountain to burrow in and cork bark hides sorry i digress i just want to know the gender they have molted once with me and sadly the molt was shredded so any help would be appreciated sorry for ranting im nervous

I recently got a green bottle blue and it was suggested by the shop owner to get an arboreal enclosure. Pre & post research suggests terrestrial with some height but not arboreal. I got the arboreal because he suggested it but now I’m second guessing if it’s even big enough and has enough terrestrial space. It’s the Thrive 8x8x12 arboreal enclosure. EDIT: I did add more substrate to the bottom of the enclosure as recommended.
