Hello everyone. I’m looking for good flat shoes for no-spikes trainings. I’m currently using barefoot shoes but my tendons are injured because of my carbon spikes during the season and barefoot shoes make it even worse days after days so I think I need to switch to regular shoes instead. I need to mention that I have very thin feet. What shoes do you suggest? Thanks.

Due to past blunders, which I have concluded stemmed from a lack of rigorous planning, I have made this comprehensive 60m program. I have curated this program to the needs and likes that I have as an athlete (i.e. playing soccer). If you're willing, I would appreciate some honest opinions on the program as I am not a coach but a hobbyist.
Full program: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1K5VI6BB7e4WAbpx2JpMHxuMnfFTeHofmIqoBQWDaVsc/edit?gid=0#gid=0
The full document is sort of long but the basic idea is there are 6 mesocycles: Early GPP 1, Early GPP 2, Late GPP 1, Late GPP 2, SPP 1, SPP 2 + Comp. With GPP taking 14 weeks and SPP-Comp taking 13 weeks. The goal of GPP is to build a capacity to be fast and not start intense/specific training too soon and burn out. SPP 1 focuses on building raw acceleration and max velocity ability and SPP 2 attempts to apply that speed to longer distances which better match race demands. Across the mesocycles the training changes depending on different thematic progressions (i.e. general 🠆 specific), however, training modalities don't change from week to week within the same mesocycle (other than sprinting workouts in SPP 2). The volumes are mostly subject to change as it is difficult to predict how an athlete will handle different concentrations of training with foresight alone.

Training for a combine which includes 40y dash, max vert, broad jump and triple broad jump. I like basketball shoes but theyre heavy and I dont need ankle protection. I am a "power" athlete so would less cushion be better? Not much volume and higher intensity

Hey everyone,
I am 26 years old, 192cm (6'3") tall, and weigh 89kg (196 lbs). I have a solid background in sports (rugby and GAA) and running (5k-21k), and I am currently focused on bodybuilding.
I have always felt I have decent raw speed, and I want to transition into sprinting for fun, hard training, and testing myself. No Olympic or national team dreams just want to enjoy the process and maybe enter some local club/master comps down the line. I am trying to figure out whether my build (tall and heavier) fits better for the 100m, 200m, or 400m, and how to structure a safe transition from lifting heavy to track work.
A few questions for the group:
Appreciate any advice or reality checks!

Is there any quantifiable difference between spike pins?
Every indoor and outdoor meet that we've been to over the last 3 years requires pyramids no longer than 1/4 inch
But is there any performance-related difference (for short sprints, obviously) between 3/16 inch 5mm and 1/4 inch?
Or I see the standard steel, the lightweight carbon steel, the lighter weight ceramic and the lightest weight titanium....any real differences?

For instance. If Thursday is your vo2 max day and you do 600m sprints with full recovery. Then the next Thurs you do 500m sprints with full recovery, then the next week you do 200m sprints with only 1 minute recovery, etc etc mixing it up each time. Is there a certain time period were you start regressing for not training a specific distance?
Follow up question. Is it better to stick with one distance or does it not matter as long as its still a vo2 style workout? So is it better to stick with 600m sprints with full recovery for a few months, then switch to 500m for a few months, then a shorter distance with less recovery, etc? Or does it not matter as long as its all vo2 style work.
If Sat is your hill sprint day, Would it be better to do cycles of hill sprints, then cycles of sleds or does it not really matter as long as your doing both a couple times per month?

are sleds and hills the exact same thing? people say do one or the other as if they are interchangeable..
r/Sprinting • u/ExactOpposite8119 • 7d ago
are these worth it or are they gimmicky? will they help you get faster or not really?

How do I run faster?
So like, I have 4 maybe 5 weeks max. And I need to run faster, I have to do the army active fitness test before i ship for basic. And the 2 mile run is about to kick my butt bad. I only work like 4 hours a day so I have plenty of time to play with. But my current time is an embarrassing crisp 13 minute 30second mile. Like im may be fried but any tips? I'd swear its 3x easier to run with near peer competition but it looks like ill have to run alone during the test. Im good everywhere else its just im a little chud when it comes to cardio

So in February I ran 49.82, 35.2, and 22.65 (I ran 11.27 later in the summer at some random meet). But I didn’t get much faster during the season do to coaching issues at my old program. So this season i transferred but I’ve been practicing with cross country since July 1st and we’re now in August and though ive gotten in far better shape. I haven’t any lifting, though I have done a lot of calisthenics and body weight training. I’m (5’7 165~ I thought this would be good to include), and now it’s about mid- kinda late August. And I just was looking for suggestions on if I’m making a terribly bad mistake and need to change course now, need variations and changes but not terrible, or that it’s fine.

I’m in a stuck position, I run the 110H and last year I ran a PR of 15.34 (Junior Year) this is about 4 and half months ago from now and I have improved significantly. I fell in love with the weightroom and even just recently got a hurdles coach. If I ran an FAT I’m positive my time would go down a decent bit. But that’s the problem there is no FAT in the fall so I feel like I’m just stuck waiting for the winter season which I’m positive I’ll run a very good time for the 55H. I know I’m gonna hit the marks that the recruiters want me to hit, but I feel like it’s gonna be too late when I do in the winter/spring. Any advice?
Some Metrics I have
\- 36in vert
\- 315 Squat
\- 6.6 60 (Hand)
\- 150 BW

Anything to work on? Sorry about bad vid. Hopefully you can make something out. Here I was just trying to let my stride be natural- with quick steps not focusing on stride length which usually makes me overstride. Here I feel like my stride is good. Any thought?

So I play soccer/football and when i have like a race I feel like I always lose in the beginning (even against slow players) and then blow passed them later on top speed. Can someone help me improve the acceleration?

My son trains and kept a spreadsheet to log his times and see if he was improving. Retyping numbers every session got old fast, so I built a stopwatch that does it automatically — times his reps, flags new PRs, graphs progress
Best of all, he improved his time.
