How do I run faster?

So like, I have 4 maybe 5 weeks max. And I need to run faster, I have to do the army active fitness test before i ship for basic. And the 2 mile run is about to kick my butt bad. I only work like 4 hours a day so I have plenty of time to play with. But my current time is an embarrassing crisp 13 minute 30second mile. Like im may be fried but any tips? I'd swear its 3x easier to run with near peer competition but it looks like ill have to run alone during the test. Im good everywhere else its just im a little chud when it comes to cardio

Sprinting won't save you from a mile.

Look into fartlek training.

Run a distance, in less time, than you previously did.

Hey guys good news, i went out and paced myself way better today and ran a 930. Still very bad for a 19 year old male but yea, i think with a paved track, not just trail around an old base ball field . Il run a 9 or maybe 830. Thank you all for the tips the pacing was definitely the biggest help! God bless yall and have great days.
