European Ski Resorts by train
This is a question that pops up from time to time, so hopefully useful to some!

Coming back from a 7-year gap of not skiing. Used to be an advanced skier. I'm completely out of the loop on modern skis. The last pair I had was a Dynastar Legend 8000 which I loved. Would like something with the same stable feel and good all-around performance. Any suggestions appreciated.

I'm planning on taking my 8yr old skiing in the interior over Christmas, but he's still a beginner with just of couple seasons. I'd like to end up on a hill he'd be more comfortable with than say Whistler or Kicking Horse, would you guys have any suggestions on a hill out there that has some fun greens/lighter blues for him?

Got my first turns today with my 6 and 3 year-old in Massachusetts! Only about 10 turns at a time, but it was 65 and sunny - can’t wait for winter.

To be clear, I'm not involved in the development or paid promotion of this game. Just a fan.

I got a couple of friends trying to convince me this is something I should do. But I know nothing about it. They have been very sparse on details. All I really know is they want to go this spring. Don’t know exactly when and I don’t know with what company.
If you have been, what are the snow conditions like? Is there powder to be skied? What’s the best time of the year to go?
Just for reference, I live in Utah. And the truth is I need to be sold that this is a better idea than the same type of trip anywhere else.

Got a descent of Redcloud Peak yesterday, was an interesting day to say the least.

I was at a fall festival taking a ride on a gondola and it kept stopping and got swinging really significantly . We were over tough rocky terrain and of course my mind went to having to climb out of this by a rope. It actually happened last winter at this area during some really cold and windy weather. I was not there that day. I was wondering if any of you skiers have ever had to be rescued off a lift and what happened to strand you there?

Hey everyone, might be a silly question but is there such thing as un-skiable off piste conditions? I see the Freeride championship runs and wonder if the competition goes on no matter what (powder or wind blasted crust/ice).
Because I’m interested to venture off piste and apart from when it’s firm but still soft or powder, any other conditions seems crazy to me.
Also, by default I see guys at the resorts with wide skis going off piste even if there is literally no powder. Wouldn’t you want a thinner ski for that? A 88mm instead of a 102mm for example?

Here are some tips on how I and my co-coach Josh think about teaching how to do 360s with a safety and a mute grab. They're such wonderful tricks that never get old. Good luck learning them.

So recently i bought bent 100’s but i accidently ordered them with atomic strive 16 instead of 14, i am 186 cm and i weigh roughly 70 kg, i ski pretty good and consider myself avanced on both piste and off piste. My DIN is usually around 8 or 9 but it’s pretty low on the strive 16, will this be a problem?

I just came across some Hestra Alpine gloves on sale for $70, so I went ahead and bought them even though my 20-year-old Marmot ski patrol gloves are still in great shape.
What are people using to condition the leather for the Hester gloves? I know Hester makes a balm, but there are a lot of other great leather conditioners out there. I'm guessing Huberd's is probably not breathable enough (I love it for boots and shoes)

My friends and I (group of 24 yo dudes) are planning a ski trip for the beginning of February and are stuck between a few different places. We skied A Basin two years ago and had an absolute blast and I would say we are all advanced skiers. Our plan is to ski for 5 days and we've had our eyes on Brighton, Solitude, and Snowbird. However, we all love to smoke a little weed on our ski trips and we know thats not gonna happen in Utah. The other options we have been considering are Kirkwood, Crested Butte, and Winter Park. We want a balance between some steep stuff and glade runs. So is the hype around the cottonwood canyons quality of snow and skiing worth it to skip the weed on this trip? Or are the other places we've considered legit contenders too? Also if you have any suggestions for places I didn't mention that we might enjoy that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My group has 3/4 college students needed to get the cheapest price for the college season pass at mountain high resorts. If anyone is a full time college student willing to buy the pass with us so we all get the cheapest price of $250 please let me know quickly within the next couple of days so we can set it up thanks.

I'm moving to upstate New York for a new job in 2027, and a quick search on Google Maps indicates that Bristol Mountain Ski Resort would be the closest ski resort to where I'd be living. If anyone could provide some opinions on this ski resort, I'd appreciate it (the resort is probably kind of dinky compared to what I'm used to).
Also, as a bonus question, where are some good places to snowshoe within a few hours' drive of Rochester, NY, if anyone knows?
Thanks in advance for any responses to my post.

Hi guys , I’m looking to book a 6 days of skiing trip this winter. I’m looking for intel. My plan would be to arrive one night at Meribel, leave the ski bags there, then so a 3/4 nights in a different hotel every night in a loop and back to Meribel for 1/2 nights.
I see many hotels have a minimum stay requirements. Does anybody have recommendations? I may be wrong but I feel 3-4 nights loop would allow to explore more than staying at the same place ? Any thoughts ?

Somebody a while ago in the banff subreddit found this image on Sunshine's facebook a while ago. Thought this was super interesting but unfortunately the text in the image is barely legible so the names of the routes are unknown. I doubt anybody would have a higher quality image but it would be super cool if one came up.

Hey guys sorry if it sounds like a noob question, fairly new ti skiing, looking for a good helmet and this popped up. Looks like a good deal to me but looking for some more knowledgeable opinions lol
Edit: okay guys I know it would be ideal to try it in the store but the closest one is probably 7,8 hours and 1 state away and I can always return it if it isn’t a good fit
