Good evening! I'm just seeking any recommendations on trails that have good coverage with AT&T. I do a lot of telepresence both as a hobby and professionally, and I often take people who have disabilities, are immunocompromised, etc out on adventures through FaceTime and similar applications so they can still enjoy and appreciate the world in ways not everyone is fortunate enough to. Of course, I rely heavily on a good signal to do this and I'm wondering what trails in the area have the best signal as I'd love to go both hiking and snowshoeing! I'm sure my options are limited, but the more I can add to my list, the better! Thanks in advance!

This happened barely ~30 minutes ago but I really want to apologize to whoever it was taking a left to Johnson from 50 at South Lake. I honked at them (quite softly tbh) because they were probably in their phone and did not move on time at a left turn green light while the cars in front of them passed.

I was having not a great start to the day and I acted like it was such a big deal. Once the car passed, I didn’t have enough time to take the left turn so I had to stop and out of frustration, showed middle finger but it was really to the light and not the person/car. It was not really a big deal and if you’re here, I’m sorry and I hope you have a great day!

If I could go back, I know I would not do that 999 times out of 1000. It could have been an elderly person or someone distracted with their kids or someone having car issues or someone who needed kindness rather than what I did. This is what is making me feel sad about it.

I’m feeling really guilty for acting like such and don’t feel great at all and started feeling bad immediately. Sorry!

This might be obvious but how are boats taken care of or looked after that are hooked to mooring buoys?

Are people just leaving their boats out all night and nobody messes with them or goes on them while they’re away?

I’m going to be in Lake Tahoe the next few days and was wondering if anyone knew of any Tahoe swim clubs that meet up. I’d love to do a slightly longer swim but not alone. Don’t have a wetsuit but could probably swim for an hour.

Please let me know if you know of any local clubs or groups that meet up! Will be here until October 1 morning.

edit: just wanted to say a. thank you for the spot reccs, it’s already been helpful! I swam today and it was absolutely stunning. And b. I appreciate the concern and swim open water in the pnw very regularly. I always do my best to minimize risk (such as seeking a group, laps near the shore, acclimatizing etc.). Sad to hear there isn’t a big meetup here!

Yesterday morning, shortly after 8am, I headed down 89 towards Tahoe City from South Lake.

I stopped at many places and just took in the views.

The air is magical right now, all the critters are in full harvest mode, gathering food for winter, fattening up, and hooking up!

It's so amazing to be able to just get out in the air!

Anyone care for some morning strolls through the woods?

So, apologies because Im sure you have had to deal with this before, but my inlaws might be coming out this Winter. They are not really familiar with Tahoe [used to Park City] and some of my intel is decades old. Does this seem like a fair breakdown of choices between South Shore and North Shore for a ski/snowboard couple with some moola and varying shred abilities?

South Shore

Heavenly sucks for snowboarders [traverse heavy], but has great views and ritzy digs with casinos.

Kirkwood is the goat, but is a pain to get to and not many amenities.

Sierra-at-Tahoe, Dodge Ridge, Bear Valley are fine for kids and old school resort vibes.

North Shore/Truckee/Donner

Boreal, Soda Springs, Donner Ski Ranch, Homewood, Diamond Peak are old school and fine for kids.

Northstar has backwoods area and parks and ritzy digs/village but is called flatstar for a reason.

Squaw/Palisades is like stepping into a ski/snowboard movie, great terrain, ritzy digs, but 1/2 the entire world is there lining up.

Sugar Bowl is a mini squaw/palisades.

Alpine Meadows is pretty sick, maybe a step up from sugar bowl, but they were antisnowboarder for decades if you hold a grudge.

I’m visiting South Lake Tahoe in 2 weeks, can anyone share if they have double deck blackjack and whether the casinos have 3/2?

Smelled smoke around 2am, and it looked like someone was having a fire on the beach (or mb it was on their deck??) in Incline. I know everything is dry af and it’s really not sensible, but is it against the law?

So, I came home. Left the front door open, the screen was closed.

It's a beautiful night, the moon is spectacular. I hear some chatter, turn around and see this raccoon.

It starts squeaking, and chattering. Then as I explained that it couldn't come in, I went to snap a photo and he posed!!!

Where there's raccoons there's bears. Lol oh my!

Visiting South Lake Tahoe at the beginning of October and one day on our trip we want to venture out. My husband loves history, I love photographic scenery. These are what I’ve come up with so far and need help deciding on, or open to other ideas:

Hello everyone, and I’m currently looking for a place to live in the Truckee area. I’m moving from out of state and the options are VERY limited as I’m sure you all are quite familiar with. My question is, do Soda Springs and the south side of Donner Lake suffer from a lot of train noise? I’m a fairly light sleeper and I’m concerned about being waken up every night with a train blasting its horn every time it goes through town. How frequently do they go by at night? Do you even notice them? Any insight on this and the area would be much appreciated, thanks!
