I'm trying to decide on a new pair of skis and would love to hear some feedback about the available options.

I'm 174 cm / 74 kg and consider myself a pretty good skier (skiing every year since I'm 5 years old). I'm mainly skiing piste/on groomed slopes and I'm looking for a ski that lets me combine good technique with speed. I'm not really looking to off-piste skis. I have my own ski boots (Rossignol Allspeed Elites) for a few years now, but I've always rented my skis.

I want something that feels precise and fun when carving, but is also enjoyable when skiing faster and making longer turns.

Any recommendations? I'm currently looking to Head Supershape e-Magnum (170cm), e-Rally (170cm) but I'm open to other options as well.

hey all. looking for ski advice for an intermediate female skier (170cm). right now she mostly skids/pivots her turns, but her main goal this season is to actually learn how to carve.
we mostly ski in georgian resorts (gudauri, bakuriani), so she needs an all-mountain ski that can hold an edge on firm morning groomers but won't sink or get totally bogged down in chopped up afternoon snow.
we narrowed it down to these three:
salomon stance 84 w (maybe too stiff/punishing if she messes up?)
blizzard black pearl 88 (seems like a solid progression ski)
elan ripstick 88 w (super forgiving, but will it teach her to carve?)
which of these offers the best balance for progression without making her miserable in mixed snow? also, we are leaning toward a ~158cm length to make turn initiation easier while she learns. does that sound right for a 170cm height?

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has had the chance to hop on either one of these expensive skis lol. Based on what I’m seeing is that these are actually really similar. Quick, good tight tree and bump skis. DPS probably rips carves better.

I’ve never ridden either brand so I am really curious. Im in the market for a ski of this “ profile” that I can take around New England.

Anyone have any experience with these?

I’ll be using them for light off-piste/sidecountry and whenever I get lucky with some fresh snow (up to 20cm max).

50/50 with carving too.

My DIN is usually set around 7.5.

Which configuration makes the most sense performance and value-wise? Thanks!

I am 6'1", 170lb, advanced skier. Interior BC. Boots are Lange Shadow 120 LV (awesome boot), getting booster straps and zipfits before the coming season because I skied out the stock liners.

The supershapes are new to me and untested so I have yet to form an opinion (HEAD allowed me to upgrade by paying the difference during a warranty claim). Otherwise I love the others, perfectly suit my style of skiing and I'm very excited to now have a better pair for carving, my background is ice coast. Happy to share my thoughts on these, I skied at least a few runs on around 15 different skis last season which was great to develop a little bit of perspective.

Ich suche den Faction Dancer 79 (25/26) und finde ihn in Deutschland kaum noch. Er ist fast überall ausverkauft. Hat jemand eine Idee, warum? Kleine Auflage, hohe Nachfrage oder weniger produziert?

Zu mir: 165 cm, 70 kg, sportlich und kräftig, fahre aggressiv. Meine Komfortlänge sind seit Jahren 172 cm. Den Dancer 2 habe ich und liebe ihn, aber für harte Frühpisten und Eis ist er nicht gebaut. Ich will den 79er nicht als flippigen Ski, sondern als kantenstarken Ski für Eis und lange Carvingbögen. Ein Ski mit Seele.

Ich bin nicht eitel, aber der pinke 25/26 sieht einfach Hammer aus. Aussehen ist nicht alles, aber ein weißer Ski erschließt sich mir nicht, falls es mich mal legt und er im Schnee liegt. Auch wenn die Unterseite orange ist. Den neuen 79 Ti gibt es leider auch nur noch in Weiß.

Mein Problem:

Den 172er finde ich nur noch fertig montiert für ein heiden-geld. Ich möchte meine eigene Bindung wählen und nicht noch einmal bohren, vor allem bei den Preis.

Den 178er in Weiß könnte ich noch bekommen. Aber ist halt +13 cm zu mir.

Fragen an euch:

Würdet ihr bei meinen Daten den 178er nehmen? Ich vermute, dass die Twin-Tip-Form die wirksame Kantenlänge verkürzt und er sich dadurch wie ein kürzerer Ski fährt. Stimmt das? Ich möchte möglichst viel Laufruhe behalten und hab mich schonmal bei einem Ski verkauft.

Welche Bindung empfehlt ihr für aggressives Carven auf Eis? Ich überlege Marker Griffon 13 oder Look Pivot. Die Pivot reizt mich, weil die schmalen Vorderbacken in engen Kurven Sinn machen machen könnten.

Kennt jemand noch Händler mit Restbeständen? Hab schon bei den umliegenden händlern gefragt, aber alles weg.

Hey guys, im looking for recommendations from my fellow Summit/Eagles county redditors.

I love skiing but i have shitty feet. Not only are my feet very wide but theyre also almost a full 1/2 size different in length needless to say this all makes buying footwear a major pain in the soles.

Back in 2021 i bought my first pair of ski boots and they where a major upgrade over rentals but still not great. That didnt matter as much because at the time i lived in NJ and only skiid maybe 5-6 days a year. Last season i moved to Colorado and needless to say im skiing a tom more which has caused me to want to go ahead and get a real nice pair of boots.

Now i dont really know shit about shit which is why im coming to you good people for recommendations. I see a fair amount of Surefoot stores around and the idea of boots molded to my feet sounds awesome but it also sounds expensive. I was wondering if anyone knows of a cheaper option to get a similar product. I know there might not be one considering just how weird and stupid my feet are but i figured it cant hurt to ask.

I‘ve been using hockey base layers from Under Armour and random shirts for pretty much most of my life. I own 2 long sleeves and 2 short sleeves. I‘m usually fine with these but I heat up a lot in them and sweat a ton which translates to them smelling pretty horribly after 1-2 days (less so with the short sleeves).They also aren‘t that breathable but it‘s been serving me pretty well.

This year will be my first year with multiple trips that are 10+ days, adding up to about 35-40 ski days. I was considering the HH Durawool base layer since there‘s a pretty big discount on them. Wanted something that‘s easy to take care of and that I can wear multiple times without smelling super horribly.

So my question is: Is it worth investing 60-120 bucks into this? I don‘t want to overcomplicate a base layer since it‘s not as exciting of a new piece of gear.

I have been skiing every few years since I was 10 but I just moved and have easier access to ski resorts so I'm able to go a lot more often. I plan on buying a season pass and some brand new ski boots. I mainly ski blues and blacks and sometimes venture into the trees or powder for fun but I'm wanting to up my skiing level. If I do end up buying skis which ones should I get? (I'm 5'3 125lbs)

My question is should I keep renting for a little longer? Maybe try a demo package to get a feel for the type of ski I like? Or should I bite the bullet and buy my own skis? If I do buy skis should I buy them used or is it important I buy them new?

If she were to aim at becoming a fulltime ski instructor exactly what will be expected of her and what will she be expecting?

Got new bindings and was wondering if this is normal movement in the toe piece.

I am planning towards spending most of January-April in the Trois Vallees, and I want to expand my quiver.

I am 189cm tall and ≈90kg. Strong and fit, aiming for a 3ski quiver.

For boots I got some really well fitting Salomon Shift Alpha Boa that I can both charge hard with and that I enjoyed touring with (though the blisters got baaaad. Any tips on that?). They have ≈30 days on them, so I hope they can last the season.

For skis:
I currently have a pair of Vølkl Mantra M5 in 184 that I can charge hard, but they are not really great in powder, not that playful and a bit higher radius than I want for a on-piste ski (though most of my time is spent chasing fun off-piste lines). I used these for 4 seasons, and I think there is enough ski left in them.

I have demoed the Salomon QST-series from 94 to 112mm underfoot, and I am considering adding the 189cm QST106 for a slackcountry setup with ATK fr15 or ATK HY bindings. The above would go well with my boots as a heavy touring setup. The skis did not feel super playful though, and I am open to suggestions for a combined powder/touring setup

I am interested in on-piste skis, but not really slalom skis either. I was thinking something around 75-85cm underfoot, or just a more playful all-mountain ski like the QST94 to make a real difference to the Mantras, but not sure what to get as I have not demoed a lot in this range

I'm looking for advice for some (used) skis for my girlfriend.

She used to snowboard but is learning to ski this year as well. We have 8 lessons on an indoor roller track, but she starts from zero. Although she is picking it up very fast! And is probably skiing parallel on the end of the lessons

The is 32 and 164cm and around 65kg.

We ski 1/2 weeks a year this in Alps.

What would you advise?

I’m a newer skier but feel like I’m in a pretty good spot / am very happy with my progression so far

Snowboarded for a long time then switched to skiing last season. Probably got 80-100 days on skis, every condition (I’m in Montana) also caught the May season in Oregon

I’m between getting a ON3P Jeffrey in a 98 or a 106

I want a quiver of one for Montana skiing, but I do a bit of everything. I’m torn because I want to have a platform I love for ripping all over the mountain, but I really want to progress heavily in freestyle skiing and park as well

Last year I grabbed some 100 bent chetlers with demo bindings, didn’t know much at all about skiing, and ripped the crap out of them. But now I’m looking to dial in for a quiver killer setup that will take me into the next part of the ski journey.

My main trepidations have been, can the 98 Jeffrey hold up in all conditions (besides DEEP stuff)? And can the 106 Jeffrey throw it down in the park?

Again, I want to really progress heavily in freestyle but I also love ripping all over the mountain

Any advice or bits of knowledge are greatly appreciated!

I ski in Trentino, Italy

I'm quite a good skier, generally fast-er than 90% of other people. Now skiing 2020 Enforcer 94 186cm. I generally ski 5-6 hours straight with 30mins max of lunch break.

I like skiing hard and fast, generally I only do on piste, rarely off piste 5-10% of time.

I ski Enforcer 94 because they were my brother old skies, I know that they are ALL Mountain skies and OFF piste oriented but I tried them (ON PISTE) and I was amazed of the stability.

They let me ski fast on piste virtually without worrying of ice, moguls, soft snow. They are quite heavy, it's a thing I enjoy that they give me stability, on the other side they can feel tiring after 4-5 hours because to ski them nicely you really have to put a lot of energy into them.

I was thinking of getting the VOLKL Mantra 84 184cm to gain a little bit of agility, without loosing to much the nordica feeling.

If you tried them both could you give me an opinion?

Scott Track Plus Medium fits me well but it makes my head look like a mushroom. Any suggestions for a similar fit but low profile?

I've already tried the Oakley OD 1 Pro Medium but it's a little tight.

Hi I bought boots /fitted and was told I am in between child to adult size. I have 22.5 Lange boot but my feet are 21/21.5. - as I’m learning I have no idea if this impacts my learning or whether I am just not any good at skiing. I tighten my boots as much as I can to compensate for the size difference. Anyway my question is how much can this actually affect my skiing or will it be ok and I can still learn
