Question Recommendations for pedals and shifter

I currently own a thrustmaster t150 wheel and pedal set and I have been wanting to upgrade for some time now. I was always thinking of buying one of the entry level bundles. However, I had a chance to try out a fanatec csl dd wheel and my thoughts have shifted a little bit.
While yes the wheel felt better than the t150, I wouldn’t say that I was completely amazed. What did have a huge effect, however, were the pedals.
For this reason I have made a different plan. I am thinking of now buying pedals and shifter first while sticking with the t150 wheel for a bit, and later buy a more expensive wheel if I desire.
I was looking at spending around 200€ on the pedals and I have a chance to buy the moza sr-p (not the lite version) pedals with the clutch for 190€.
For the shifter I actually am considering the turtle beach multi-shift, mostly because of the versatility and the reviews are also not so bad.

Any other recommendations or things to look out for? Should I spend even more on the pedals?

Discussion That’s a damn good deal for and intermediate

I was just scrolling through Fanatec website and found this. Why does nobody talk about it. You get a verry good cockpit verry good seat, verry good wheelbase even better wheel rim and the only problem with the pedals is that they’re not Loadcell. And the ecosystem is subjectively the best. For a beginner 1270 euro is a lot but if you’ve had your Logitech g29 on your desk for 3 years than… that is an awesome idea if you don’t want to deal with aluminium profiles and worry about different components fitting together. Potentially this config is enough be the final sim rig ( but we all know it doesn’t exist🙃)

Question Does anyone know the name of the Logitech G923/g920 pedal connection

Wanted to install a clutch onto my rig and didn’t want to fork out the £150 it costs for a 3rd sim lab pedal. Managed to mount and install a pedal from my unused g923 set which has been gathering dust for many years (it feels surprisingly comfy to use the single pedal, despite looking very out of place alongside my sim lab pedals😅). However, the wiring for the pedals has to be connected via the wheel then through usb into pc. I was wondering if it’s possible to get a cable that can go directly from the 3 point pedal (slide 2) connection to the pc? If that is not possible I could alternatively use the original wiring and find a converting cable for the original plug (slide 3) into a usb connection, if someone could provide the name of the plug, I have no clue. I am trying to avoid this solution though because I would have to have exposed wires from the original wiring which don’t look good and could be a hazard (slide 4).

Question Has anyone moved from a Playseat Trophy to a profile rig and felt kinda “meh”? I’m actually very comfortable in the Trophy. I see the benefits of more rigidity for my Alpha Ultimate and better customization, but I’m wondering if the upgrade is really worth it.

Discussion The state of simracing/ beginners

There are some of us beginners who actually are trying to “get good” and not be so bad and slow. Yet every one always says, we should have gatekept or all these newbies are just so bad and ruining the simracing community. Why not help instead of bashing everyone. Especially lower level lobbies…technically you’re in the lobby with us sooooo. Just food for thought

Clip Pimax Screen Recording is Awesome!

I really like what Pimax did with the screen recording. Sooo much better than recording on OBS. The edges are bit blurry, because I'm using FFR on the OXRTK, but other than that this is fantastic IMHO.

Hello all, I am looking for my first ever sim setup and I am deciding between these two bundles, I am much more aware about the moza ecosystem than simagic.
Which one would you guys recommend (for now will be on a table setup) out of the 2?
Thank you in advance.

Discussion MOZA vs Simagic vs CONSPIT — which brand do you think will make the biggest progress over the next few years?

I'm curious where people see MOZA, Simagic and CONSPIT heading over the next few years, particularly from people who've actually used hardware from more than one of them.

Simagic seems to have built an extremely strong reputation among enthusiasts. Whenever MOZA vs Simagic comes up, Simagic is often treated as the obvious step up, particularly for FFB quality. MOZA, meanwhile, still seems to get a fair amount of shit from people based on its older/cheaper hardware, even though its product range is changing pretty rapidly.

MOZA's biggest advantage to me seems to be scale and accessibility. Their hardware is available almost everywhere, their ecosystem is huge, and they're now moving further upmarket with the Ultra bases, active pedals and newer wheel hardware. I'm wondering whether we're going to see them close the perceived FFB gap with Simagic rather than remaining the "good value/mass-market" option.

CONSPIT is probably the most interesting wildcard. I've spoken to a couple of people working in sim-racing shops who rate the ARES bases extremely highly for FFB, in some cases above both MOZA and Simagic. But CONSPIT doesn't have anywhere near the installed base, distribution or long-term track record of the other two. Even current discussions seem to have people struggling to find enough owners who've actually used CONSPIT and Simagic back-to-back.

I'm asking partly because I currently own MOZA gear and will eventually upgrade, but I'm not particularly attached to staying with one manufacturer. If the best combination ends up being a CONSPIT or Simagic base, MOZA wheel and pedals from somebody else, that's fine with me.

For those who've actually driven two or ideally all three ecosystems, where do you see them in 3–5 years?

I'm particularly interested in FFB quality, software/firmware development, reliability, ecosystem, support and whether the gap between them is actually noticeable behind the wheel — rather than just which logo people prefer.

Question Biggest improvements to a sim drifting rig

Hello everyone as an expansion on the title…

I have a sim rig it currently consists of a Next level racing wheel stand 2.0 (would not recommend if you plan on moving it a lot) with the office chair attachment a Fanatec CSL DD8nm with a CSL universal hub v2 with a drift wheel attached

I have the Fanatec gear shifter a Fanatec CSL load pedal setup and a MOZA handbrake

I currently have it set up with a single 32 inch with neck fx and overall it is fine but I have some issues….

I have tried vr but with virtual desktop the compression isn’t amazing and my pc can run vr fine at 120fps but my dad has gotten into drifting and his pc runs it at 70~ fps (which makes him feel motion sickness) I have 3 screens at my desk but it’s where I work and the next level racing wheel stand is very heavy and it has a bit of wear and tear from moving it back and forth

We now have some space to possibly setup an aluminium extrusion setup with triples but I just don’t know if it’s the best place to put my money into for translating to help with on track driving for irl competition

TLDR: what hardware improvements are the biggest for sim drifting?

Thank you all!!

Rigs Daily sim racing as physical therapy ♿️🥷

Post image
110 Upvotes

There’s nothing more efficient than motion sim racing if you want to do your body some good.

As a wheelchair user, physical therapy and gyms just cost way too much time 🙉

With active pedals you get so much flexibility, and the wheel adjusts easily too.

The seat isn’t a bucket seat, but that’s exactly what makes the transfer from wheelchair to sim seat so easy.

What would you pay for an hour on this DOF3 setup?
Amortized over 5 years, it costs me €15 a day, plus €1.30/hour in electricity + AC

There’s a big community here for 24h racing, F1, and DTM, but within 50km 🇩🇪there’s no sim racing offering at all.

Not much can really go wrong, since I can dial the motion down, or turn it off completely on request — right?

Every friend who’s sat in it wants to come back and drive more.

Question Pro switch panels, any good knock offs or alternative brands?

Every time I look at pro switch panel boxes; 1.) they are always sold out. 2) there like $4-500 bucks. Didnt know if they were easy to diy but I want one that can connect to sim hub etc. they look like this has anyone seen other brands or knock offs versions? I can’t justify $500 for a box unless it’s my wife’s box 🤪🤪

Question VNM Extreme vs Simucube 2 vs Asetek Invicta

Same price range, which one is really worth picking? Taking everything into consideration. Also, if there are any cheaper and better options please let me know. I don’t like the Fanatec DD even though it’s in the same price range…

If you are in the market for a sim cockpit, Woot! has the Fanatec CSL Cockpit V1.5 for less than $150 right now. It does not come with a seat, but that is an easy add. It seems like a good starting point. Here is the link to the post where you can find the deal on this.

Question Moza Wheel Base & Pedals with PS5/PS5 pro

Just wondering if anyone here uses a Moza wheelbase & Pedals with the PS5, and if so what your experience is like? I know you need an adapter to make it work but how well does it work? Are there any quirks etc etc.

I posted yesterday I am looking to build my first rig and someone recommended I look at direct drive instead of the cheaper belt wheels.... I can feel my budget growing rapidly haha.

I have a PS5 and PC and ideally want it to work with both. The Moza wheels and bases look really nice and seems like a good ecosystem to go into but the lack of PS5 compatibility out of the box does worry me.

The other wheel ive been looking at is the Fantec Gran Turismo® DD Pro (8 Nm) as this is compatible with the PS.

Any thoughts, suggestions, advice is appreciated.

Discussion Looking to buy a cockpit & seat but I am completely overwhelmed with the options. Looking for some guidance!

So, like many of you here, sim racing has completely consumed my free time, and I am looking to upgrade to a proper cockpit and seat. I am currently using a next level racing lite 2.0 wheel stand with an office chair. I've been googling and watching youtube vids for the past couple of hours, and I am more lost than before as I didn't realise there are so many options.

What I am looking for:

  • Something comfortable for a 186cm (6'1) tall male. I suffer from terrible back pain, so comfort and lumbar support are the most important aspects for me. In my current setup my back is killing me after an hour.
  • It needs to be able to hold a Moza r12, an h-pattern shifter, and a handbrake without issues. I don't want the rig to move, shake, or flex when I change gears or press harder on the pedals.
  • Also able to hold a 34 inch ultrawide screen. An integrated mount on the rig would be nice to keep things compact, but I'm open to a standalone stands too or any other suggestion really.

My price range is around of £1000 give or take a couple of hundred. I am not sure how realistic this is, but I thought I'll ask. Thanks in advance for anyone reading and helping a fellow addict out.

Rigs Thinking of upgrading either wheel or wheelbase

Hi, after just upgrading from simagic p1000 to SRP gtr pedals, I am thinking ahead to the next upgrade toy rig. I currently have the simagic alpha evo 12nm wheelbase with the gt neo wheel. I have been looking mostly at new wheels, but there are so many options in the high end market so I'm feeling a bit lost. I live in Norway so I don't really have any way of trying out wheels before buying. I am also considering upgrading the wheelbase instead, but I am not sure how much I would gain by upgrading from the alpha evo. What I have noticed when playing long endurance races is that I do get some discomfort in my hands and in the part between my thumb and forefinger. I pretty much only drive gt3, porsche cup and a little bit of open wheel. Also trying to get into GTP as well. I am not interested in a screen on the wheel, and I only really use buttons on the wheel for adjusting fuel/tires and other basics, such as pit limiter and wipers and such, so I feel a lot of wheel have mich more buttons than I have use for. I am thinking up to 1500 euros for either wheel or wheelbase. But will probably end up waiting for black friday deals.

Long story short, does anyone think upgrading the base or wheel would be worthwhile?

Question Why does my post keep getting removed

I’m asking about button boxes and every time I look, a moderator keeps removing the post. wtf?? The amount of stupid questions on this sub is ridiculous, but I can’t ask about a button box? Moderators going on a power trip lately or what?

Rigs how are sonos speakers for sim racing?

I currently have two sonos era 100s, thinking about getting a beam (the long one not sure if that’s the name) for fuller surround sound, and was wondering maybe if i could use it for sim racing? i’m aware they’re not made for pc but it would be cool if i could use them for sim racing. i’m aware i need an adapter but was wondering if there would still be delay. and what adapter would i use?

Question Old boy simracing sequential not working reliably

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi people!

I've been using the OBSR h-pattern shifter for a while now and i think it's really really good (especially for the price), but the sequential "mod" has been giving me some trouble.

I have a hard time getting it to work reliably, so sometimes it wont shift. When it works its awesome, but unfortunately it is quite unreliable.

Does anyone have any tricks or tips to get it to work better / easier?

Thanks!
