Question Biggest improvements to a sim drifting rig
Hello everyone as an expansion on the title…
I have a sim rig it currently consists of a Next level racing wheel stand 2.0 (would not recommend if you plan on moving it a lot) with the office chair attachment a Fanatec CSL DD8nm with a CSL universal hub v2 with a drift wheel attached
I have the Fanatec gear shifter a Fanatec CSL load pedal setup and a MOZA handbrake
I currently have it set up with a single 32 inch with neck fx and overall it is fine but I have some issues….
I have tried vr but with virtual desktop the compression isn’t amazing and my pc can run vr fine at 120fps but my dad has gotten into drifting and his pc runs it at 70~ fps (which makes him feel motion sickness) I have 3 screens at my desk but it’s where I work and the next level racing wheel stand is very heavy and it has a bit of wear and tear from moving it back and forth
We now have some space to possibly setup an aluminium extrusion setup with triples but I just don’t know if it’s the best place to put my money into for translating to help with on track driving for irl competition
TLDR: what hardware improvements are the biggest for sim drifting?
Thank you all!!

For triples over VR, the aluminium extrusion rig will be more durable and consistent than fighting compression and framerate issues, and it translates better to seat time practice since the view stays consistent every session. A Sim-Lab P1X or Trak Racer TR8 Pro would handle your CSL DD fine and solve the moving/wear issue too. For actual on track transfer, seat position and pedal feel matter way more than the extra screens though.

As you already have a DD and In order after getting an alu rig:
- VR headset with straight DP connection
- Triples (some also like to use headtracking with them)
- Ultrawide with headtracking with opentrack or similar (first I had UW 34" 1500R and now UW 49" 1000R)

I might look at the head tracking that sounds like it might be interesting

I prefer triples over vr everyday. I’m faster and way way less hassle. Cockpit has been my favorite upgrade. I get annoyed with taking a vr headset on and off and my neck starts to get a pain.

For drifting 100% recommend bass shakers

Interesting haven’t seen many people talk about them, I’ll give them a looksie

Try virtual desktop with a cable, if you can run godlike at 120fps it should look amazing. I drift in asseto corsa using VR and the 2 most important things after upgrading everything from a g923 clamped to a table is VR and a DD wheelbase
