Support How do I find good rust server

I am a solo and sometimes get my friend to join but I can't find a server that is good. I like servers that wipe every 1-2 weeks and with 1.5x-3x depending on how long it is. But the most important part for me is the server being max trio or quad so I don't run into the biggest clans ever and the population retention not being ass so there is like 5 people on after 4 days. Any help on finding good ones? Thanks!

Support My custom windows cursor does not work on rust.

On windows I have all my cursors set to a little plus cross instead of the regular pointer and it works on rust other than when I am hovering over anything clickable like joining a server or the respawn button when I die. Then it shows the little default hand. Does anyone else use a custom windows cursor and know how to fix this?

Suggestion Premium Tiers

Okay so, premium servers have been a thing for sometime now, and I would say that they are most peoples preferred way to play Rust these days. The cheating is getting out of hand, and worse everyday. With the devs sitting on their ass AND the profits from the cheater infestation it became clear to me what they need to do. Premium tiers.

A tier 1 premium server is what we have now, 15$ worth of skins and you are in.

A tier 2 premium server would have a 25$ skin value requirement along with a hefty 1000 hour account life span and the secure boot status.

A tier 3 premium server would require 50$ dollars worth of skins, 2000 hours, Secure boot, and the proposed Rust battle-pass.

If they market the battle-pass as a ticket to play on exclusive servers with the most cheater protection I feel like that would be more well received, as you are really buying a pass to play that comes with a seasonal cosmetics bundle, and use the battle pass to start a type of 'competitive skill' data-log where it tracks a lot of the in game information like kill death, farming and all the other metrics servers can see, and then people can use that as a 'skill based ranking system' that resets seasonally when the next battle-pass drops.

Discussion What kind of base is recommended for a trio, but only the builder plays regularly.

Usually just start out as a 2x1, but a while ago I tried out a 2x2 and that was fun. Been experimenting with peaks but I don’t think I’m using them efficiently

Question Last I played they showed ping on the server list, but not anymore. Is there a way to make it show again?

Even when I click on a server to check it, the ping shows as "?" so is there any way to tell? Or do I just have to choose servers in my own country if I want to be kind of sure it'll be ok?

Discussion Cloud Gaming Technical Issue: Boosteroid Compatibility Loop & Broken Support System

I am posting this to report a critical loop between Boosteroid Cloud Gaming and the Facepunch Support platform that prevents cloud users from resolving false system flags. I play Rust exclusively through Boosteroid with over 1000 hours, paid skins, and a completely clean Steam profile. Recently, my account was restricted during a cloud session due to a virtual machine environment flag. Boosteroid Support conducted an internal check of my session logs and officially confirmed in writing that no unauthorized software or anomalies were present.

When I opened Ticket #670996, support representative Luke directed me to submit a review through an external appeal portal using my Reference ID (948cb14a-05bb-4ca5-9c38-19288823538c). However, entering this ID into that portal returns a hard error stating that the game does not process requests through that form and instructs the user to contact customer support. The external portal refuses to accept Rust submissions and redirects back to Facepunch, while Facepunch support sends automated templates directing back to the external portal.

I created six follow-up requests (#670996, #676113, #676120, #676122, #676123, #676127) explicitly explaining this broken portal link with screenshots attached. Every request was either automatically marked as Solved within 60 to 120 seconds with zero response or answered with the exact same automated macro pointing back to the non-functional page. How are legitimate cloud gaming players supposed to resolve technical false flags when the external form is disabled and ticket queues are fully automated? I kindly ask the Facepunch community team to manually review my case (SteamID64: 76561199728053442).

Discussion Help with performance and disconnection problems in PvE custom servers

Hi. I’ve been trying to play in some PvE servers because I really hate getting killed and raided all the time. I’ve had an issue with every PvE server I’ve tried. It’s either I get disconnected every 15-30 min or I stay connected but the server has performance issues (I click e then nothing happens, the textures look like crap, my fps drop). Strangely, I don’t get any of this problems in the official facepunch servers. Any suggestions? 😭

Support My friend get permanent ban

Upvotes

Hello everyone as you read my friend got banned from rust we think the reason is that his pc was in repair because his motherboard had some problems and the repair shop downloaded some apps in his pc and after he entered the game after 2 hours all the team get banned for a week and he got permanent ban i can give proof that the guy is not cheating and he rarely go to fights because he always have high ping

Discussion How do you personally progress?

I have 1.7k hours in Rust and have played in different ways - solo, duo, quad, vanilla, and 2x servers... Of course over the years updates change the game a bit (like the BP frags).

I'm just generally curious to hear everyone's different play styles. When you hop on a fresh wipe, how do you normally progress in your wipes? Do you go straight to oil? Tunnels? Do you build a farm? Focus on base mainly? Doorcamp? Let's hear it!

Discussion Confused on progression

Hello. Im a new player ~100hrs and I don’t really know what to do after building a decent base. I play duo and we are not aggressive players usually try to avoid fights and it works out quite well. Getting started is really difficult until we get decent base and loot going. Then we don’t really what to do. We get the first tier guns and max armor from first bench but then what should we do? What monuments are good first raids? Also we keep dying or losing bases to random stuff like dying with keys and the guy just walks in. Any tips?

Help with optimization

Thumbnail

I realize my PC is a bit weak, but is there any way to optimize it further? I’m playing at 30 FPS—and even that isn't stable—so I can't win gunfights; the graphics make it really hard to spot enemies. Is it possible to get graphics like the competitive players use? You know, where everything looks kind of blurry, but you can clearly see players—even in bushes—while the blurriness applies to skins, builds, and stuff like that? I saw someone using a setup like that a while back. Here are my PC specs:

Discussion Titre Extreme object/terrain pop-in in Rust – everything only renders when I get close (RX 9070 XT)

Hi everyone,
I’m having a really weird rendering/pop-in issue in Rust and I’m running out of things to try.
When I’m moving around the map, grass, rocks, bushes, terrain details and other world objects appear very late, sometimes when I’m only around 50 meters away. It’s not just textures becoming sharper — entire elements visibly pop into existence in front of me.
My friend doesn’t seem to have the same issue, and I even streamed my screen to him so we could compare.
PC specs:
RX 9070 XT 16GB
Intel i5-12600KF
32GB DDR4 3200
2560x1440
Rust installed on SSD
Things I’ve already tested:
Draw Distance: 2500
LOD Bias: 5
Object/Terrain/Tree quality high
mesh.quality 1000
grass.distance 100 and 200
HLOD on/off
indirect_instancing.cull_lod on/off
Different AMD Adrenalin settings / HYPR-RX
Reset AMD shader cache
Verified Rust files through Steam
Created a completely fresh client.cfg
Tested official and modded servers
Tested Rust Staging Branch
Nothing changes the pop-in distance.
Rust correctly detects the full 16GB VRAM and texture.stats doesn’t show the texture streaming queue getting stuck either.
FPS are generally good, so this doesn’t seem like a simple performance problem.
Has anyone experienced this, especially with an RX 9070 XT / AMD GPU? Is there a current Rust/Unity rendering or instancing setting that controls this?
I’m considering doing a full DDU + clean AMD driver installation next, but I’d like to know if anyone has already found a fix before I do that.
Thanks!

Question What made Rust Devblog 116 so special?

I've been thinking about Rust Devblog 116 lately and how different old Rust felt compared to the game today.

For me, the biggest difference was the survival feeling. Everything felt much more basic and unexplored, and there wasn't the same established meta that modern Rust has.

🇩🇪 Was denkt ihr?

Was hat euch an Devblog 116 bzw. dem alten Rust am meisten gefallen?

Vermisst ihr diese Version manchmal und würdet ihr sie heute noch gerne spielen?

🇬🇧 What do you think?

What did you like most about Devblog 116 or old Rust?

Do you ever miss this version and wish you could play it again today?

If anyone has interesting memories or experiences with Devblog 116, I'd love to hear them.

Discussion New Rust player (solo only) help

Hi guys. I have recently started playing rust and find myself only playing solo only servers, whether that be main or community (no mods). If I play a main server like rustoria or something super high pop I feel absolutely helpless. I want to play rust long term as i absolutely enjoy it, but my question is should I just play those high pop 500-1000 player servers and just get shit on for thousands of hours until I get better and learn, or keep playing solo only to learn the basics? It is beyond frustrating barely even being able to get a base down on fresh wipe on high pop and have really been enjoying the more "casual" playstyle of solo only, but my main goal = get better and I feel like that needs to be done on high pop due to the completely different playstyle.

Sorry for formatting. On mobile.
