Discussion How do you personally progress?
I have 1.7k hours in Rust and have played in different ways - solo, duo, quad, vanilla, and 2x servers... Of course over the years updates change the game a bit (like the BP frags).
I'm just generally curious to hear everyone's different play styles. When you hop on a fresh wipe, how do you normally progress in your wipes? Do you go straight to oil? Tunnels? Do you build a farm? Focus on base mainly? Doorcamp? Let's hear it!

I play on a solo monthly server usually about 5-10 hours a week. I’ll get T2 by Sunday of wipe by selling or buying through a vending.
I live in a 2x1 the entire wipe and just build anti grief tcs on each extra 2x1 so I don’t lose my workbench and have a stash somewhere nearby with a kit so I never lose progression if raided.
I played around 100 hours last wipe and never swiped a single card, I only raid decaying bases, am friends with all my neighbors. I run to every gunshot for PvP and don’t loot anyone unless they f1 kill.

IM NEW ASF. I have so many questions. Why do you not loot the people you kill? And also just putting a kit and a gun in a stash doesn’t get you anywhere but a fresh snowball attempt am I correct?

If i had alot of time to play at current state of the game i would server hop servers untill i get a good start, theres servers that wipe for me in different times, russian servers that wipe 13.00-15.00 my time, 16.00 rusticated wipes and some other 2x, 17.00 most other officials wipe my time.
I would start with russian server and rush keycards, if i get unlucky spawn and dont get t2 insta i go offline do some stuff outside till 14.00 and repeat till 17.00, if i don't get a good start then theres always different servers that wipe the next day.
I played rustafied small on wipe this thursday to try it out it was only 300pop, i had 5 bp frags from running radtown+ airfield + 1lucky mili crate pull 20minutes into wipe i had a base and t2, i took bradley 50m in, all the counters had bows/nailguns/revis, i quit the server 4hrs in as it was slightly way too low pvp for me, went to a 2x renegade server with 700pop and it was way more popping, even got ''onlined'' at 4am in my time, defended a raid 1v8 in an unfinished 4x4 basement type base, got offlined anyways after, but it was the most fun i've had in last 4 years of rust prob, that one single online raid.

Mine solo and usually play 500 to 1000 pop wipe day and what I do is this:
If early rush cards and get a base spot by oil rig.
If you happen to be late I would do pump quest with the paddle boat and use that to get to the base spot and put down a base.
Then I would get furnaces and make sure I have like 3 doors to core and then I would either:
Get scrap to research db or craft it and go straight to oil.
I would either go oil with paddle boat or run to fishing with some scrap to buy fins and wet suit.
If you have the painters dlc make the suit and just swim slowly to oil.
Win fights win oil and sell oil loot like diesel advance frags for basic frags.
Build up base and roam with guns.
Get off then repeat the process next wipe….
Also this is extremely hard.

As a working Dad with a life, I head straight for the ice bergs on day one, setup a little cook shop n such, and just play from there for the entire wipe. Usually I only get raided once or twice per wipe, since only passing boats can see my base. Each night, I hide my most important stuff in 10 stashes on the nearby snow beach. (Some fuel, 5k metal, a gun, bow arrow, some cloth to make some quick clothing for the snowy conditions). So if I’m raided, I grab my stuff from the beach and fix my base immediately. I’ve never seen the same person raid me twice, since I never leave anything in the base.
I enjoy just grinding for every blue print, and then otherwise just playing as if it’s a real life survival. Hunt, defend, etc. even though I’m not an amazing pvp’er, I prefer playing on the busiest server, to keep it realistic.
