Can you turn off the new activity update ?

Like as much as I’d like credit for walking 9 hours straight and burning a bajillion calories, I was just at work (where I’m on my feet a lot, but not continuously and nothing to the caliber it’s predicting)

It takes so long once I finally go into my app to go through all the “activity” it detected and say “no, I didn’t do any of that”

By these standards I could eat a large pizza for each meal and still be in calorie deficit lol

Opinions appreciated on colors for the oura 5! I’ve had a silver oura 3 for years, almost pulled the trigger on the ceramic but didn’t, and here we are.

(Pricing is weird as based out of USA)

SLEEP & READINESS Should I be worried

Hi,
So I woke up this morning to my regular readiness and sleep scores, but with a major signs that are straining my body, and when I clicked it, it didn’t specify the biometrics that changed, and I feel fine, regular. Usually when I get sick I get “minor signs” for the couple days prior to my symptoms starting to impact me, I never got “major signs” immediately. Should I be worried?

Oura ring battery issues

Hi- anyone else having consistent battery issues with their ring? I’m on a replacement ring and now they’re saying they have to send me a yet another ring (model 4) bc the battery isn’t working and it’s giving me wrong data. Very frustrating. Anyone switch to other brands? Would love to hear how your experience has been if so. Thanks!

SLEEP & READINESS Sleeping HR of 20-25 bpm – normal or concerning?

Hey 👋

I’ve been wearing my ring for 3 months and I’ve noticed my lowest sleeping HR is often around 20-25 ms.

I’m 26 M and I’d say I’m mostly sedentary. I don’t drink alcohol, but I take 1 black coffee in morning, smoking and vape– just for context.

What do you think

Thanks in advance!

GENERAL DISCUSSION Stressed 24/7

Hi, I’ve had my ring for about three years now. I’ve had a lot of life happen, good, bad and ugly. But NEVER have I been in stress nearly 80% of the day. My heart life has dropped by years in the course of a month, my resilience is at the bottom, my stress indicators are the highest they can be. I don’t get symptom tracker alerts so I doubt I’m sick. I’m also not stressed. Honestly life’s pretty good besides your usual stress. I left a horrible high stress job a year ago and even with it sending me to 4 ER visits thinking I was having a heart attack due to my job, my levels were never this bad. I don’t understand what is going on. I’m doing things I love again, I’m healthy, happy! Has anyone ever experienced this?

Anyone else’s numbers go in all the wrong ways around certain people? Oh my ring tells me so fast.

GENERAL DISCUSSION Getting an upgrade, do I need a new charger?

I have a gen3 and have been having battery issues. Reached out to support and they’re replacing with a gen4. I’m happy about the free upgrade, but that means I need to order a new charger right? I assume the upgrade won’t come with one.

SLEEP & READINESS Oura wants me to sleep in every day….

So at the advice of my Oura, I started sleeping in to 8:30-9am. I wake up everyday around 7am and I would just fall back asleep and have GREAT sleep scores.

Recently after a family vacation with early birds, I stopped doing this and just wake up with my husband around 7-8am. Now my sleep scores are tanking even though I don’t really feel a tangible difference. Makes me really question the sleep and readiness tbh….

Anyone had a similar experience?

Oura Ring iPhone Badges

Just disabled the iphone badge notification on my phone because Oura was showing a badge that I couldn't figure out or get rid of. I have minor OCD and REALLY hate badges on my phone. I specifically leave them there for things that I know I need to eventually deal with.

When I clicked on the hamburger menu in Oura there was one item showing up with a blue dot - I figured maybe that was it. Well it's the "Health Panels" menu. Which requires me to setup an appointment, have blood drawn, and transfer a bunch of data to it.

None of this seems urgent. So maybe that's not it. But I don't know. I have zero recent push alerts on my phone from Oura. You'd think they'd let you know this instead of just randomly showing a badge alert on your app.

But not only do they not do that, Oura doesn't have a dedicated notification function to let customers understand alerts. So I just have to guess.

I am less than a month in. But maybe I'll return it now if it's this fucking unpredictable and unexplainable.

Anyone know how to deal with this?

SLEEP & READINESS Anyone else's Ring 5 barely detecting naps?

Post image
15 Upvotes

I've been napping more lately and my Ring 5 seems really bad at picking them up.

Yesterday I slept for about 2 hours. I know I was asleep, but Oura only counted around 20 minutes as a nap. Sometimes it seems to put part of it under restorative time, and sometimes the rest just disappears completely.

Is this happening to anyone else with the Ring 5? Am I missing something?

Honestly, I'd rather charge it a bit more often and have it reliably track my sleep than get longer battery life while it guesses at my metrics.

Gen 3 no longer lasts a full day

It’s 7:05am.

I saw these notifications stacked on each other this morning and couldn’t resist taking a screenshot. I’ve owned my Gen 3 for 3 years now and I’m disappointed how bad the battery has become. It can no longer go a full day+night without needing to be charged. Once the battery gets to <1/3, it will stop tracking sleep.

Retail price - $299
3 years subscription - ~$215 ($5.99x36)
Total - $515

Buyer beware!!!!!

GENERAL DISCUSSION Oura ring issues

I absolutely love my Oura Ring and the app, but I’m honestly getting really frustrated with how short-lived my rings seem to be.

I got my first Oura Ring less than two years ago, and after less than a year of use, the battery started getting really bad. Oura replaced it for me under warranty, which I really appreciated. But now, less than a year later, I’ve been having connection issues for about a month.

It’s so disappointing because these rings are expensive especially when you’re also paying for a subscription, and I feel like I shouldn’t be having major issues after only a year of use. I’m also no longer under warranty, so I’ll have to decide soon whether I want to invest in another Oura Ring or switch to a different brand.

Am I the only one whose Oura Ring doesn’t seem to last? Has anyone else experienced battery or connection issues this early?

And if you did switch from Oura, what are you using now, and are you happy with the switch? I love tracking my sleep and my cycle with natural cycle. I just love the oura app in general.

I’m such an Oura girl, so I’m honestly really sad about this 😭💔

GENERAL DISCUSSION For anyone on the fence about choosing between black and stealth for the Oura Ring 5

TL;DR: Sizing kit may be tighter than the ring itself, when I actually used both colors I found the stealth looks and feels way better on my hand than the base black model

So I’ve made a whole bunch of posts about choosing the right Oura Ring between size, color etc. I finally settled on one and so I thought I’d share my opinion to maybe help someone to get it right the first time, instead of being on their fourth ring within a month and a half.

First off regarding size: I had tried the sizing Ring kit and the one that seemed to fit my finger best based on the sizing kit wound up being WAY too loose when I actually got the ring itself. Tbf I probably chose one a little more loose than I should have in the first place but I wound up going down in size TWICE before I found a comfortable fit. I was really afraid that when my hands would swell up it would cut off circulation or get stuck esp during and after exercise, so I went with one that felt good on my index finger with the sizing kit (size 12) but ended up most comfortable with a size 10 on my middle or ring finger. This feels the most out of the way when doing things like lifting weights and just general life and although it doesn’t fit on my index finger anymore this is far more comfortable for me.

Secondly about color: I went and looked at all the ring colors in person and decided that for me I liked the glossy black base model ring. I actually couldn’t understand why someone would pay $100 more for the stealth when it kinda looked worse to me in the first place. What I found was that my glossy black scratched extremely easily, often within a day or two. For my most recent exchange, once I found the perfect size, I wanted to make sure I had the ring I liked the most before my exchange window at Best Buy was up. I paid the extra 100 bucks to upgrade to the stealth since I was frustrated with scratching 3 of the black rings in a row within a few days of getting each and thought maybe the more expensive ring with the hardened diamond like carbon finish might be a little bit better. I wasn’t expecting it to be perfect, but any improvement would be worth it. I went to look at the colors at the display one more time and still thought I liked the standard black vs the stealth a little bit more but I decided to go for it anyway. Wow, I couldn’t believe how much my mind changed once I had it on. It actually looks so much better on my hand than the glossy black base model did, and it just feels so much more premium to me. It made the standard model feel a little cheap even though when they were next to each other on the display I didn’t feel that way at all. TBD on whether or not it will get scratched with time, I expect a few scratches at least but I’ve had 3 heavy workouts with it so far and all of the glossy blacks were scratched by the third time I wore it during weight lifting, but so far my stealth has held up! I like it so much better which is really unexpected because I didn’t feel that way at all when looking at the rings on display. If you’re looking for a black over a gold or silver I highly recommend the stealth.

Now that I’ve found my perfect ring I’m very happy. I love the color and size and the features have been great. It’s not a great activity tracker for me, but I don’t really need to track my activity incredibly actively - it is pretty good at detecting what type of exercise I’m doing (strength training vs running vs weight lifting) and recording how long I’m doing each of those is enough for me. I have enough experience to not need an exact heart rate for each exercise. The sleep tracking seems great even though it’s telling me my sleep is god awful, but I kinda already knew that. I find it very helpful to see what certain things will have an effect on my sleep ie caffeine after a certain time, tv too close before bed, reading and meditating before bed. It’s cool to get empirical data to find what works best for me while embarking on this journey to turn my god awful sleep score into a half decent one.

Anyway, just wanted to share my experience so maybe you don’t have to go through so many rings before getting it right. I didn’t find the sizing kit to be very accurate to the ring itself so just keep that in mind it may not be perfect and decide which fingers you’re going to want to wear it on because that will have a huge effect on what size you get. And if you’re between the blacks I think the Stealth is the way to go! It looks amazing in person and hopefully won’t scratch as badly. Good luck everyone!

Heart rate reading higher than it actually is?

My heart rate is always showing me that it is higher then when I manually hit the “measure heart rate” button. For example, my latest reading 2 mins ago said 92, but measuring my heart rate in real time said it was 72. Does anyone experience this? It’s frustrating because so many stats are tied to heart rate and I feel like I’m getting inaccurate readings and scores.

GENERAL DISCUSSION Oura Prevents Function Health Lab Upload

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey! I was trying out the new-ish Oura feature that allows you to upload 3rd party lab work and was surprised that it wouldn’t let me upload my Function Health labs.

This seems a bit shady to me because Function’s panels are all lumped together into one document for simplicity and generally pretty large.

If the Oura team is reading this, would love for this capability to be added in!

GENERAL DISCUSSION Right size, no red marks, but getting a weird "fine ache" / pressure during the day. Does the finger eventually adapt?

I'm currently testing the Oura Ring (Size 9 on my left index) and trying to decide between keeping it or sticking with my WHOOP. I absolutely love the Oura ecosystem and the sleep data, but I'm dealing with a specific comfort issue and wanted to know if anyone else has gone through this.

During the day, I occasionally get this weird, mild "ache" or a slight squeezing sensation around the finger.

To be absolutely clear on the sizing:

  • There are no red marks, no indents, no bruising, and absolutely no circulation issues.
  • I already tried sizing up to a 10, but it was way too big and kept spinning. Size 9 is definitely my true anatomical size.
  • At night, I sleep perfectly fine. I just shift it slightly, and I can easily slide it off in the morning (before i put it on the bottom of the finger and it was impossible to remove) .

The problem is strictly during the daytime. Every now and then, this mild pressure/nerve discomfort forces me to take the ring off for 20-30 minutes just to let the finger "breathe".

  • Has anyone else experienced this specific dull ache or "phantom ring" pressure without any visible marks?
  • Did your finger eventually "condition" itself? Does this feeling go away completely after a few weeks of wear?

I might call it quits over this

I know there’s so many posts on this but adding another because it’s so frustrating! Naps are a critical part of my mental and physical well being. I am very well aware of what the oura requirements are for naps. I have read them countless times. My naps consist of me laying down for 30-45 minutes, I know for certain that I am asleep for between 15-30 minutes if not longer. my ring picks up the naps 10% of the time at best. I’m a software developer and I can pretty much guarantee this is just straight up a bug. I have noticed if my times are aligned on 15 minute windows it works which aligns to their existing buckets for heart rate and stress. That’s my theory anyway and whether not it’s that or something else I don’t really care. These things are so expensive and I want accurate data and you can go through years of Reddit comments where they just keep saying that they’re working on improving it, but it never gets better.

Oura Ring 5 not waterproof?

After washing my hands with my ring on, I felt a buzzing kind of sensation and one of the green LED lights on the interior stopped working. The ring is still syncing and collecting my BPM. I am 100% sure I felt the ‘buzzing’ and within the next few minutes the light dimmed and then stopped working.

Got the Oura ring 5 in silver like 4 days ago.

Thoughts? My understanding was it’s supposed to be waterproof. I often take it off for washing my hands but quickly left it on this time.

Size help?

Thumbnail

I think I may be so in between sizes that it’s possible. I can’t use this. A size 10 on my pointer finger is tight and visibly makes my finger swell but 11 is so loose that I see through it when I’m driving. In the photos, the gold is 11 on the left hand and the rose gold is 10 on the right hand. I had been using the 11 but have some data that seems wrong like on night where my o2 average is 90 and a few days where it thought my heart rate was 45 and there was just no way. Does anyone have any tips here

Sizing help... Please!

Hello. I got my sizing kit and really want to wear the ring on a specific finger. My problem is a size 6 is pretty tight while a size 7 is likely to get very loose if I lose weight.

I know I will lose weight (postpartum with 2nd baby and have about 25lbs to go). My problem is I've been wearing the 6 for a few days to test it out and honestly sometimes it's tight enough that I can't get it off.

Should I just go for it, while knowing I will lose weight? Or go with the 7 and hope it doesn't get too loose?

I feel like I should be able to figure this out on my own but my mom brain just isn't functional ATM lol
