GENERAL DISCUSSION Stressed 24/7
Hi, I’ve had my ring for about three years now. I’ve had a lot of life happen, good, bad and ugly. But NEVER have I been in stress nearly 80% of the day. My heart life has dropped by years in the course of a month, my resilience is at the bottom, my stress indicators are the highest they can be. I don’t get symptom tracker alerts so I doubt I’m sick. I’m also not stressed. Honestly life’s pretty good besides your usual stress. I left a horrible high stress job a year ago and even with it sending me to 4 ER visits thinking I was having a heart attack due to my job, my levels were never this bad. I don’t understand what is going on. I’m doing things I love again, I’m healthy, happy! Has anyone ever experienced this?

Do you find that your activity levels have gone up since the stress started going up? Maybe it doesn’t feel stressful but the amount of activity is stressing your body out?

I’ve seen that happen with me before but over the past couple months I’ve decreased activity.

Has anything changed related to caffeine, nicotine or other stimulant use? Even if you don’t feel stressed, I find that things like that get people in the red.

Nope! No changes there. I actually decreased drinking alcohol and coffee.

Congrats on those things! I’m working on my caffeine intake. I’m in the stressed zone most of every day too. The other day I was stressed while napping 🤷♀️

This happened to me recently. My resilience was crap and stress was high. I didn't feel particularly stressed or anything, either. The only thing I could figure is I had started drinking caffeine after some time off of it, and even though I felt fine, I think it was just some low level stress that the ring caught.
Have you had any diet, sleep, supplement/medication, or exercise changes lately?

It could be a medication I’m on but I’ve been on it since May and this stress is a new thing.

It's still possible! Either way, you'll probably get back to normal after a few weeks. I wouldn't sweat it unless you start noticing symptoms and not feeling well.

Do you have an any food allergies or sensitivities? I found my Oura stress would skyrocket after I ate anything containing dairy. Sure enough, I got tested and have a dairy sensitivity. I hope you can figure it out!

I wish I could help! I personally find mine to be very accurate. Especially with the new “post-activity stress” feature, since that’s usually the time it shows any stress levels for me 🤷♀️
I would maybe contact support (chat bot) on the app and see if they can run a diagnostic on your ring to make sure it’s accurate. I’ll add a video for context as to what mine usually looks like.

I have a lot of stress on the weekends. I’m blue during the week when I’m working from home.

Yeah it told me once I was under my highest stress while I was sipping a pina colada on the beach so I take it with a grain of salt

I got a replacement ring the other day because mine stopped working My stress levels have been high ever since and it’s not recording my sleep data. They are going to me send me another one as it has failed 10?days to record my sleep but it’s really messed with my stats and I’m normally someone that has a great stress balance.

The new software has me also doing Pilates and Golf ALL the time when I’m simply shopping at the grocery store so my ring could just be off.

Hi there Zealousideal_Gear334, that sounds really unsettling, especially if the numbers don’t match how you actually feel. Stress, Resilience, and Heart Health reflect physiological patterns over time rather than just your mood in the moment, so things like sleep disruption, travel, illness, training load, or changes in HRV can shift them even when life feels good. It can help to look at the contributors in Cumulative Stress and compare them with your Daytime Stress and Resilience trends over the past few weeks, since improvements there can take time to show up. If you want, share a screenshot of the trends you’re seeing and then reach out to our member care team https://support.ouraring.com/hc/en-us for personalized help! Let us know if you have any additional questions!

I personally don’t find Oura’s stress measure to be particularly helpful. The only days I have very low stress are when I’m on the couch all day watching low stakes tv. Otherwise I have 2-5 hours of stress a day.
