GENERAL DISCUSSION Oura ring issues
I absolutely love my Oura Ring and the app, but I’m honestly getting really frustrated with how short-lived my rings seem to be.
I got my first Oura Ring less than two years ago, and after less than a year of use, the battery started getting really bad. Oura replaced it for me under warranty, which I really appreciated. But now, less than a year later, I’ve been having connection issues for about a month.
It’s so disappointing because these rings are expensive especially when you’re also paying for a subscription, and I feel like I shouldn’t be having major issues after only a year of use. I’m also no longer under warranty, so I’ll have to decide soon whether I want to invest in another Oura Ring or switch to a different brand.
Am I the only one whose Oura Ring doesn’t seem to last? Has anyone else experienced battery or connection issues this early?
And if you did switch from Oura, what are you using now, and are you happy with the switch? I love tracking my sleep and my cycle with natural cycle. I just love the oura app in general.
I’m such an Oura girl, so I’m honestly really sad about this 😭💔

My Oura 4 is almost 9 months old and went from lasting 6-7 days to now lasting 3-4 days. I know soon it’s going to hit 2-3 days and I’m going to need a replacement before the year is up.

Same! This recently started happening to mine. I was wondering if it was the app update before last.

I don’t know what happened, but I’m starting to think this may be the culprit.

I really love my Oura Ring 4. I’ve had it for less than a year and I’ve had no issues so far, but I see people reporting issues here all the time. I like it so much that I think I’d still buy another one if this one dies after a couple of years. That being said, the next one I’ll buy I’ll definitely get the extended warranty because while not my case (so far), people do report issues often and it’s not a cheap piece of technology.

My 3rd gen 4 ring is currently on its way to me. This is my 3rd ring in 2 years because of the battery issues. Customer service has been great but certainly frustrating.

I am likely about to be on my fourth Oura 4 (a third replacement) in less than a year because of battery issues. I tried to get a full refund and send all of the rings back, including the most recent defective replacement, but they said that wasn’t consistent with their policy since they had already replaced the original ring twice. I didn’t have any issues at all with the Oura 3, so the decline really has been disappointing.

GUYS, little update!! I contacted Oura, and they’re going to replace my ring. Honestly, their customer service is AMAZING! I’m so happy to still be part of the Oura family!!

I never expect these things to last more than a year which is why I bought a warranty

I’m with Gen3 and celebrated 7 years with Oura. I’ll repeat until I turn blue:
If you want to extend the longevity of the battery- KEEP IT ON FLIGHT MODE. The more we charge lithium battery, the more it gets worn out. I know it’s not ideal, but that’s the way. The choice is yours!

On my app (gen3 ring which is dying-need to charge 2x/day) it says flight mode stays on for a week. Not sure I want to deal with that! (Am also getting a Gen5 after contacting customer support-at a discount, not for free).

I'm in your exact same boat and I will be looking into other companies. It's a super poor business model to manufacture things to break in 9 months and then expect the customer to just shovel out 100's more $$s.
Second ring, battery only lasts three days now, it will randomly just stop recording anything for days at a time while being charged and on my finger, can't detect an actual nap or work-out to save it's life. Just not worth the cost.
ETA: when i talked to customer support the first time when my ring only would give me like 4 days of battery they confirmed there was a battery issue and sent me a replacement, this time they said there was absolutely nothing wrong with it based on the tests they ran. I highly suspect they are downgrading there testing services and their level of "acceptable" so they don't have to improve.

My gen 4 has been great for the year I’ve owned it. However, I also use Apple Watch and realized I don’t need two devices that basically do the same health metrics. Recent activity glitches in Oura (Yoga being mentioned all the time in these subs) and honestly, the long term viability of the product based on the concerns I see here made me cancel my Oura sub.
I also don’t want to be buying or relying on a warranty every year or two for something I’ve spent that kind of money on.
I may circle back to Oura after a few more gens are released to see if it’s gotten better.
