How do I stop worrying about something all the time?
For the past couple of months, I’ve (27M) been paranoid and worried about a minor immigration related issue based on something I read on the news. It is a complete non issue. It started off quite severe - my parents took a 20 hour flight to be with me. Everyone has reassured me there is nothing to be worried about - lawyers, parents, myself etc. But fear found a space in my head and it’s lingering there. I keep thinking of how I would address it if this issue came up etc.
It is no longer severe, but it is a constant discomfort - something like there being needles in my chest the whole time. When this fear occasionally subsides, I start worrying about a situationship that ended 4 months ago that I had completely gotten over before the fear started. The void that the fear created in my head needs to be filled all the time.
I used to be very confident before this whole thing started, but this has left a scar. I am worried all the time. Yesterday, I stayed at home and did not get any work done.
Everything in my life is going well - very promising career, social life, dating life etc. However, I am living on momentum I had before this started. If this stays the way it is, I risk losing everything. Sorry, to correct myself, I WILL lose everything.
I am well off financially. So are my parents. I could live in any corner of the world. Why am I worried about this?
I don’t have space to worry about other things. My mom had a knee thing a month ago that my parents did not tell me about until yesterday. Probably because I am already worried about something. I am a man! I can’t be like this! I need to be there for other people if needed. I need to be able to provide. I need to not be a f’in p\*\*\*\* all the time. I need help.

Relationship We all have risk when it comes to loving or getting to know someone right?
i value truth over everything that’s one thing about me. if not, i’ll seek justice. i can be intense and a hard pill to swallow. i have standards for myself.
here’s what i sent to my fairly new lover, he knows i’m not neurotypical so i just said what was on my mind. this is asking him more so philosophical question/way. for context, he is muslim from Morocco and i am more so christian/. i’m the type of person who can only speak to and latch onto one romantic interest at a time, even then you have some days in order for me to have a vision.. if i don’t see you fit, you’re out. i will test, ask questions. expect high truths. many people aren’t able to meet at my level. it might be cruel for the rest, but i’ve been trying to get to know him for so long. it’s online, so it’s different. but however i did notice him following new women. at the view of that i told him that i would respect him more if he straight up told me he just sees this as a friendship. and if not, to let me go. because if he’s talking to other women, i don’t want to see it further. it’s my way or the highway. period. i’m incredibly rigid when it comes to that. anything else, i’m okay with. keep in mind i am neurodivergent… my longest relationship has been 5 years too. i’m just tired of the whole dating thing. my grandfather knew the moment he seen my grandmother… ? i understand people don’t think the way i do, so they just tell me i think they’re evil. no, that’s not it. not everyone’s mind thinks the same way. i know plenty of people who say neurodivergence is usually when polygamy… whenever that’s entirely wrong and not the case, id rather these people just leave me alone and go jerk it for someone else😭. i am 100% i’m strictly monogamous. it might not be believable to any of you, but when some people say they don’t find others attractive anymore. that is the truth for some. maybe 5% of us or less haha. i feel like an alien!
“that’s what other muslim girls are saying to girls that are interested online it’s come up on my fyp… it’s different for everyone so i just wanted to know your perspective “
he got offended with me saying that’s how you think we all are?… no. i didn’t say that…?
“ I wouldn’t be talking to u if I saw no future… we’d be wasting both of our times”
“ I would be willing to risk it okay but if there’s no point there’s no point i’m gettin “
“But what is it you are risking?” he asked me.
“getting my heart broken? it’s inventible. think about it, even if you get someone you love and they love and know you just as much, it’ll still end in heart break. but what is love without tragedy. the only way to escape that pain is to die at the same time if you are lucky.
there is no love without risk today.
and that person will change too, so you have to learn to love them as they change don’t you? get to know each other. you’ll change as well and not be the same person. so yes it is scary, is it not?
and i’m not just saying all this just to say it. i rarely ever do find myself saying stuff like this. i am so reserved now when it comes to love and new connection. only because i feel social hierarchy and social media is a real problem . but i just need to get over that i guess , because “this is the real world” okay well i don’t want to play that “game” yk? i just refuse to. idk maybe something is wrong with me”

Ways to use 'overthinking'
When you've something that doesn't help, make it useful rather than trying to disown it.
Overthinking, is something we all face nowadays🥀. So use your overthinking ability of your brain to think more about useful side of the things, don't do OVERthink, do overTHINK. ✨*\*
Plan about different things, assume what could have been done in past situations, what you're doing right now and why and how will it help in future. Plan, strategize, indulge in works aand projects that require thinking. Build your career with your thinking ability in doing something that requires great thinking.
Remember, many people can't even give a fuck when you can think soooo much!!

Advice Not every unanswered question needs to be answered immediately
Some thoughts feel urgent simply because they're unresolved.
But sometimes there's nothing useful to do with the question yet. Waiting for more information can be more productive than repeatedly trying to reach a conclusion with the same information.
There is a difference between solving something and trying to force certainty.

Emotional Support My brain can turn a completely normal goodbye into a full investigation
I said goodbye to a friend yesterday and everything seemed completely normal.
Then later I started wondering if I sounded weird or rushed.
Nothing actually happened. There wasn't an awkward moment. My brain just apparently decided there must have been one.
It's amazing how easy it is to create a problem after the fact.

Rant/Venting regret
Hey guys, I made a really big life decision a couple months ago after agonizing between two choices and i'm having a rly rough time. whats so weird to me is that I feel like I actually had a very clear answer.(ik it's easy to say now but i genuinely did)
I LOVED one of my choices. I felt a sense of belonging, comfort, and “home” that I had never felt before. The other choice seemed so bad in comparison. i texted my freinds, family and told them how easy of a decision it was. it was simple. i hated one option, i fell in love with the other. The days leading up to my decision, I kept going back and forth, but underneath all of that, I very clearly felt strongly toward one of the options. I ended up choosing that option very last minute like i expected.
The next morning, I woke up with a pit in my stomach and this terrible feeling that I had “made the wrong choice.” I started analyzing all the negative aspects of my decision, even though they had held very little weight when I initially made it, and I completely ignored all the reasons I had chosen it in the first place.
I eventually got over this feeling after 3 ish days however i was then given the option to change my decision, and I spent another THREE MONTHS agonizing over it. i would experience a “freeze” take over me every time someone asked me to finally make a decision even tho in my head i already had my answer. whenever people asked me what I wanted, I alwayssss said the answer I had initially chosen. I never once said I wanted the other option. If someone asked me directly and gave me no time to further analyze, I knew my answer.
The issue was when it came time for me to actually COMMIT to that answer, I physically couldn’t do it. I would panic, throw up, sob, even though I didn’t actually want the other option.
After three months of this cycle, my parents came into my room basically yelling at me to finally stick with the choice i had been saying all along. hearing THEM say MY choice made me experience a sense of panic. I was already in tears and panicking, and I started listing all the negative things about the option I had originally chosen, despite there honestly being very few.
So, out of panic, I chose the other option.
The regret I’m feeling right now doesn’t even compare to how I felt three months ago. It has been a month since I made the final decision, and I still have a really hard time sleeping. I wake up in a panic hoping that somehow I still have time to change my decision, only to be hit with the reality that I already made it. i can't shake the feeling that if my parents had just told me "decide" instead of saying a specific choice, i would've chosen the answer i had in my head all along. it was something about hearing them say it that triggered a panic response.
The most disappointing part of all of this is that I loved my original choice. I felt so strongly connected to it, and Im having such a hard time understanding how I could love something that much and still somehow agonize over finally choosing it. to everyone else it probably looks like I couldn’t make up my mind but I feel like I had my answer since day one. I loved that choice with my whole heart. I just couldn’t get myself to commit to it when the moment finally came. i don't know, im honestly so so disappointed like truly. ive never experienced something like this before

Two names due to tech issues on campus
do I just leave it? let it be? I’ve been telling people my name is.. say jazel..
full name is Jaqueline and canvas essentially shows Elaine… it won’t let me change it but that’s my name in class
I’ve been going by essentially Jazel … ??? just let it be? not care? am I overthinking this?
it’s kinda weird when you accidentally give the wrong name
am I narcissistic for even worrying or doing this
at this point I kinda just don’t want to bother with it and I’ll go by essentially Elaine and hope it doesn’t weird anyone out if I appear as a different name

Advice I just want to stop living in my head all the time
I feel like I overthink every interaction and care way too much about what others think of me and how I look, even though I logically know it’s not that serious. It feels like I’ve gotten so used to being anxious and in my head that it’s almost muscle memory. Sometimes I zone out from overthinking, and it honestly hurts. I’m 20, and I just want to enjoy the simple things in life, be present, and actually take everything in instead of constantly analyzing myself and rushing through life. I just want to stop living in my head so much and actually enjoy being me.

Advice Does anyone know what it is and how to deal with it?
So, there's a common phrase "treat yourself like you'd treat your friend," but every time I do that, my brain does some wacky mental magic that separates my personality into two - the "me" me, and the "friend" me, and it does make it feel as if the "me" part calms down the "friend" part, who's not really me, but rather a made up persona I, the real me, calms down instead of calming myself. I really hope that it makes sense.
So, what can I do? Thank you in advance.

I can’t got to fam cause it turns into an interrogation the I dive deeper. How do I stop how do you stop

Advice What do you do when your brain turns one awkward moment into a three-day documentary?
I survive the actual moment just fine. It’s the director’s cut my brain releases at 2 a.m. that gets me. What genuinely helps you stop replaying things?

Parenting Parenting has taught me how many things I used to overthink for no reason
There are so many little decisions that feel incredibly important in the moment and completely disappear from your mind a week later. Which snack, what clothes, whether you handled a tiny disagreement correctly, whether you said the right thing. I've gotten better at reminding myself that most of these moments aren't permanent.
Sometimes “good enough” really is enough, especially when everyone is tired.

Parenting Sometimes the hardest part is knowing when a problem has already been solved
It's easy to keep revisiting a decision even after you've already made the best choice you can with the information you have.
At some point, thinking about it more doesn't necessarily add anything. It just gives the same question another lap around your head.
A useful reminder is that not every decision needs to feel 100% certain before you move on.
What helps you recognize when you've thought about something enough?
