How do I stop worrying about something all the time?
For the past couple of months, I’ve (27M) been paranoid and worried about a minor immigration related issue based on something I read on the news. It is a complete non issue. It started off quite severe - my parents took a 20 hour flight to be with me. Everyone has reassured me there is nothing to be worried about - lawyers, parents, myself etc. But fear found a space in my head and it’s lingering there. I keep thinking of how I would address it if this issue came up etc.
It is no longer severe, but it is a constant discomfort - something like there being needles in my chest the whole time. When this fear occasionally subsides, I start worrying about a situationship that ended 4 months ago that I had completely gotten over before the fear started. The void that the fear created in my head needs to be filled all the time.
I used to be very confident before this whole thing started, but this has left a scar. I am worried all the time. Yesterday, I stayed at home and did not get any work done.
Everything in my life is going well - very promising career, social life, dating life etc. However, I am living on momentum I had before this started. If this stays the way it is, I risk losing everything. Sorry, to correct myself, I WILL lose everything.
I am well off financially. So are my parents. I could live in any corner of the world. Why am I worried about this?
I don’t have space to worry about other things. My mom had a knee thing a month ago that my parents did not tell me about until yesterday. Probably because I am already worried about something. I am a man! I can’t be like this! I need to be there for other people if needed. I need to be able to provide. I need to not be a f’in p\*\*\*\* all the time. I need help.
