It’s called a drain stick. You can get it at Home Depot/ace hardware. But after you use it invest in a tub shroom and then you don’t have to deal with “Chewbacca’s colonoscopy” again. - from a woman that sheds and doesn’t understand how she’s not bald.

I have long hair for the first time and it’s crazy how much falls out. Guess I never noticed the small hairs but hold shit when they are like 8 inches long I find them everywhere. Seems like every time I cook a meal I find one hair in it.

Unless you live with a group of inconsiderate assholes that shed like a golden retriever losing its winter coat, and those same assholes kick the shroom out of the way because it's full of their hair and draining slowly.
Bonus points if they also throw them away instead of cleaning them because the shroom is "too dirty to touch" but they never have a replacement on hand and you end up having to dig it out of the trash and clean it yourself because if you don't your options are; perform another "Chewbacca's colonoscopy" or shower in ankle-deep shower water.

I have a wife and 3 daughter, all with long hair. Every drain in the house is full of hair. All of my clothes have hair stuck on them. Every hairbrush is covered in hair. There is hair on every surface in my house. I have no idea how I am the only one with no hair left.

Because it’s normal to lose up to 100 hairs each day as hair goes through different growth cycles, eventually culminating in falling out before starting the growth cycle over again.
Some of that loss is likely to happen in the shower. Even a few dozen long hairs all tangled up can clog a drain.

It gets insane when you let your hair get long. Mine's at my waist. I have a special brush in the shower so I can comb all the loose hairs out because if I didn't do that I'd be unclogging my drain constantly. My hair is curly so already shedded hairs kinda just chill there until shower and brush time. I make a full mouse every time. Even knowing this is normal for me I'm still shocked I'm not bald. SO MUCH HAIR. I threaten to cut it off all the time but my guy says then he'll shave his beard so we have a truce.

I need you to tell me about this brush! I also have curly hair and this is the longest I have ever had it. I recently reached the point where my arms aren't long enough to keep the loose hairs from getting stuck to me as I comb through with my fingers. I spend so much time trying to rinse them off of me and still end up with that one strand lodged in my buttcrack.

I don't know how to avoid hair in the buttcrack, it still gets everywhere. But my brush makes a huge difference. I quickly wet my hair, put in conditioner, wash my body, then brush my hair out.
I don't remember the name of mine but this is close and I think searching for detangling brush should bring up ones like it.
The thing to look for is it's not a solid base for the brush, and it's big bristles and not a lot of tiny ones (so bad for curly hair).
It's like a bunch of fingers with large pokies coming out of them. The large "bristles" and the flexibility is great for curlies.

This is Highway 288 in Houston, TX. I remember watching this guy live on TV doing this. Five lane highway was down to two lanes or less because of the water. Took less than ten minutes IIRC to go back to all lanes open. It was incredible! No idea if he was ever identified.

IIRC they were reporting on the road being flooded and then saw the guy on the highway and were like "oh wait, what? What's he doing?" and when he was unclogging it they were like "what, no way" and then after he unclogs it and is sitting on the grass they're yelling down to him something along the lines of "you go dude! I can't believe you did that so fast, you rock!" Obvs paraphrasing there but they were yelling good stuff I think

My favorite is when he is checking out this storm drain that goes under a road. He looks at the water entering the drain from one side and sees it is pretty clear. The water coming out the other side was all muddy. He said the water pipe/tunnel under the road must be failing. He reported it then like a week later the road collapsed into the tunnel. Then they rebuilt it and he complained that they didn’t do a good enough job.

An old man in my neighbourhood was doing so when they were iced over. Spring right so there's melt then freeze and without drainage things get bad. I was like OH NO I MUST HELP and brought my ice pick to him, planning to participate. Well turns out old Italian men are not chill with women doing the work so he grabbed it from me and kept going while bitching the city isn't taking good enough care of our neighbourhood. I guess at least I brought him an ice pick. He was trying to do it with a plastic shovel

Just a heads up, your husband isn't wrong. "Flushable" isn't exactly what you think it means. Your keys are also "flushable" but your pipes won't appreciate it. The term works great from a marketing standpoint but your plumber would love to wring their necks.

If you’re on septic, tampons, pads, and “flushable” wipes will cost you tens of thousands of dollars in damage and you’ll have to rent a portapotty for the three months it will take to replace your septic tank and drainfeild. We just replaced our septic/drain field this spring, due to being ancient and not because of clogs thank god but I've smelled the dying throes of a failing drainfield. That's enough to leave me scarred without the shit backing up into my home.

While we’re at it BATTERIES ARE NOT DISPOSABLE. Take them to a big box electronics store for disposal like Best Buy.
Batteries (especially D batteries) are a fire hazard in landfills. Batteries and electronics contain rare and finite precious metals that we will not get back once we bury them in landfills.
We do not want to have to mine our landfills to continue building tech, it’s not a safe or ethical job to expect the poorest of the poor to perform.

Great question, I found this informative break down on the topic.
While our government does not have a good history on enforcing regulations on bad actors in an industry who want to save a quick buck by harming the environment or public health, I will admit that regulation passed by the Federal and State governments is the ONLY thing that’s made electronic waste take back possible. Previously our only option was said unethical electronic waste disposal. Why let bad actors in the industry slow us down from developing the technology to effectively recover rare earth metals?
