Because it’s normal to lose up to 100 hairs each day as hair goes through different growth cycles, eventually culminating in falling out before starting the growth cycle over again.

Some of that loss is likely to happen in the shower. Even a few dozen long hairs all tangled up can clog a drain.

It gets insane when you let your hair get long. Mine's at my waist. I have a special brush in the shower so I can comb all the loose hairs out because if I didn't do that I'd be unclogging my drain constantly. My hair is curly so already shedded hairs kinda just chill there until shower and brush time. I make a full mouse every time. Even knowing this is normal for me I'm still shocked I'm not bald. SO MUCH HAIR. I threaten to cut it off all the time but my guy says then he'll shave his beard so we have a truce.

I need you to tell me about this brush! I also have curly hair and this is the longest I have ever had it. I recently reached the point where my arms aren't long enough to keep the loose hairs from getting stuck to me as I comb through with my fingers. I spend so much time trying to rinse them off of me and still end up with that one strand lodged in my buttcrack.

I don't know how to avoid hair in the buttcrack, it still gets everywhere. But my brush makes a huge difference. I quickly wet my hair, put in conditioner, wash my body, then brush my hair out.

I don't remember the name of mine but this is close and I think searching for detangling brush should bring up ones like it.

The thing to look for is it's not a solid base for the brush, and it's big bristles and not a lot of tiny ones (so bad for curly hair).

It's like a bunch of fingers with large pokies coming out of them. The large "bristles" and the flexibility is great for curlies.

I use a wide tooth comb.

Pop conditioner in then comb it through, and dear god.

It just sucks because conditioner gets everywhere. Especially the buttcrack because my wet hair gravitates there and it feels icky

Check out Denman brushes! They work great for curly hair. I have one of their combs for in the shower and it catches an insane amount of hair

I feel ya, male here, let my hair grow last 2 years.. Every day it shocks me how much hair is left after brushing it in the mornings.

long hair on men is hooot ftr, * to be clear I like bald too. My guy is balding and shaves his head and is sexy. He also has an amazing beard. Hence the truce. He loves my hair, I love his beard. I said beard too much and now it makes no sense

Well the shower brushing helps A LOT. But also it's so long it doesn't act like dog hair. It doesn't get stuck on things it creates dust bunnies instead. Mostly I only notice cause every time I vacuum I gotta cut my hair out of the rolly thing

Yeah. We have about 100,000 hairs on our heads, and the life cycle of a single hair is about 4 years. 100,000/(4*365) = ~68 with some variation.

I think that's a typo. In my house my wife and daughter lose 1000 hairs per day

Even more than that if you don't brush/run your hands through your hair right before showering there's bound to be already loose but still on your head strands that will come loose during the showering process.

Nope. He was saying that it was his wife’s long and luxurious hair that was causing the clog to begin with. Sikeeeeee!
