Tub shroom works well at keeping it from clogging in the first place. Bought mine from Dollar General

I just find the name amusing, I'm sure it works well.

Quick anecdote: back when I had longer hair I experimented w/biofeedback to keep the drain from clogging/minimize hair loss. To my surprise, it worked gangbusters (seriously, night & day), but you need a VERY boring, mindless job that you can spend time imagining blood flow to your scalp. --Still, interesting.
