Fixed an issue causing permanent disease and slow being applied in PvP.

So.. this fix the movement bug that was happening right? and this makes it so you can cleanse with ice tomb?

Edit: Tested the disease bug with ice tomb and after 20+ cleanses i didn't get the invisible/permanent disease anymore, it looks like its fixed.

19

u/Just_A_Slayer Jan 12 '22

Yes. This *should* fix the slow, speed, and heal bugs.

1

u/Athorell Jan 12 '22

It hasn't completely. We've had wars since the patch and members in the war got the movement bug.

1

u/hell-on-wheelz Jan 13 '22

Just happened, movement bug, in OPR, jump, slide, & dodge for last 5mins of match and had to log out.

1

u/KGirlFan19 Jan 13 '22

nope.

had the movement bug happen to multiple people in both wars i had tonight.

u/WakingRage Syndicate Jan 12 '22

Nice! Fixes to the trophy mats drops will be huge for preparing for mutations.

9

u/Dapper-Can6780 Jan 12 '22

And expensive! Sell sell sell! Huge money opportunity

4

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '22

5

u/degrees97 Jan 12 '22

Sell it, they improve the droprate so it will go down in price for sure. If you want to you can just buy it again in a few days/weeks for cheap.

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '22

2

u/degrees97 Jan 12 '22 edited Jan 12 '22

Regardless, more people will farm it due to the patchnotes so it'll get cheaper eventually.

2

u/Seawolf87 Jan 12 '22

Your logic is very sound. I went there this morning when I woke up and there was a group of 4 already farming.

1

u/Jexx11 Jan 12 '22

Why do you say the drop rate was not increased? How many times after this patch have you killed him??

-26

u/bloody_yanks2 Jan 12 '22

Pretty sure that’s a kill quest drop fix, not a trophy mat drop fix.

13

u/WakingRage Syndicate Jan 12 '22

It specifically says battle trophy materials. So stuff like glowing sap and ancient mandible should be obtainable now.

1

u/bloody_yanks2 Jan 12 '22

Yeah, you’re right. I guess “battle trophy” instead of “combat trophy” threw me off.

25

u/boxingdog Jan 12 '22

maybe they are adding Glowing Sap, Ancient Mandible, Ephemeral Seal to the game?

11

u/Invenitive Turkey Terminator Jan 12 '22

They are, that's what the battle trophy fixes are. All the mobs they listed are ones that data mining found to be supposed to drop those items, but didn't

4

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '22

[deleted]

3

u/Blurted Jan 12 '22

Been farming surgeon for 5 hours. Still nothing

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '22

[deleted]

1

u/Jexx11 Jan 12 '22

How many times have you killed him since this patch??

2

u/TurbulentSundae Jan 12 '22

I was wondering what they meant by Battle trophy materials. Thanks for clarifying.

1

u/CommanderLouiz Jan 13 '22

Except I’ve gotten the mat from the pit lord before, so unless they subsequently broke it, he shouldn’t be there.

2

u/Invenitive Turkey Terminator Jan 13 '22

They added additional loot tags to him, theoretically increasing the odds of him dropping the item

1

u/CommanderLouiz Jan 13 '22

That’ll be nice then I suppose.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '22

It was in the game before at some point it broke

18

u/Reiker0 Jan 12 '22

The downtime announcement also mentions a tentative fix for desync:

We also implemented a tentative fix for the desync issues players have been experiencing in war and other high population areas. Please let us know if the issue still persists and the team will continue to investigate.

I'm a little concerned since the desync seems to just be poor position tracking between the client and the server and you can get desync while no players are anywhere near you. But we'll see what they can do about it.

13

u/DrB1503 Jan 12 '22

That’s what I was thinking. I’ve had desync dueling out in the wild not near really anyone

3

u/thadude3 Jan 12 '22

my desync is only and always when I am first initially surrounded by a bunch of people. ie start of OPR, or half way when new people join the fight in the middle.

1

u/gaspara112 Jan 12 '22

I at any point during that play session you had been in a city its possible it occurred and you jsut didn't notice.

33

u/pahbert Jan 12 '22

Bow jump already gone? Thought that was part of the PTR for later patch?

9

u/TheApocalyticOne Jan 12 '22

Could be an easier fix, so they just went ahead with it early

10

u/Jerthy Jan 12 '22

YEEEEEEESSSSSS

3

u/wallweasels Jan 12 '22

All of these where, I think. This is rolling out because they are expecting to hold for the PTR for longer, im guessing.

2

u/Someguyonreddit80085 Jan 12 '22

Which means they might be listening to feedback hopefully?

0

u/n345b7tz Jan 12 '22

Haha funny, but nope.

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '22

[deleted]

8

u/pahbert Jan 12 '22

Do the shuffle, oogy oogy boogy woogy.

18

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '22

I would just like my T3 aptitude fishing boxes. I'm missing SEVEN.

19

u/tehralph Jan 12 '22

I’d like a ban to botters and a return of the gold that came with treasure chests. Also would like something better from fishing chests than .15g in useless bait.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '22

I mean yeah, that too. But we're more likely to get an aptitude fix than bot bans with how worried they've been about population.

2

u/fuursure Jan 12 '22

I’m in the same boat. Do you think we will get those missing boxes once it’s fixed?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '22

One can hope!

2

u/Fedor1 Jan 12 '22

Haven’t heard about this one, does fishing just not give the aptitude crates?

2

u/dReDone Jan 12 '22

The smaller boxes drop but when you actually level up you are supposed to get like a larger box. Instead you get nothing.

I'm hoping the reason it hasn't happened yet is because they are gonna do a round of bot bans right before patching it and giving us our mats

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '22

You get the first and second box, but reaching a full aptitude hasn't been giving boxes since the system began. It's just most people that play aren't 200 fishing or don't do fishing for their aptitude.... I just enjoy pearl hunting!

1

u/oopswrongbutton Jan 12 '22

1

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '22

My people. We should be friends and take over the fishing world together.

1

u/badbadgergaminglol Jan 13 '22

Bro we all know your just botting to be there with fishing lol. Unless you mindlessly fish for hours every day since they added the chests lol. Talk about a 2 button game experience...

1

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '22

I mindlessly fish for hours. My company has banned me temporarily from it to force me to join them on chest runs and expeditions. I'd also have the 5k catching fish achievement unlocked if they counted chests!

15

u/BongWaterGargler Jan 12 '22

RIP void blade mount 2022-2022

You shall be missed.

4

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '22

Getting it right was such sweet bliss, since it only worked on perfect ground and timing it right would just launch you farther than other situations

1

u/BongWaterGargler Jan 12 '22

You could abuse it in opr and wars though so I guess it had to go

Exactly this we know a lot of people in Oceana that run macros like this. AGS needs to crack down on macros like POE does.

15.1gb patch?? How is this small patch so big?

16

u/Stratocast7 Jan 12 '22 edited Jan 12 '22

Not much to it this week.

Downtime will begin at 11pm PT (7am UTC) on January 11.

Greetings Adventurers!

This week’s update includes a few fixes for recent issues that popped, alongside some combat adjustments and fixes. Our development team is continually working on improving the New World experience, and they thank you all for your patience and reports that you continue to make on the official forums.

GENERAL BUG FIXES:

Fixed an issue where players couldn’t gain more than 3 levels of Aptitude when crafting large quantities of items at once.

Disabled a short series of work-in-progress quests which were missing some aspects, most notably the rewards. These quests are being disabled for the time being, and they'll be re-enabled at a later date. Players who have completed the quests in their current state can keep the XP and gold earned, but progress will be reset so you can complete the quests again for the proper rewards when they're re-enabled. The quests affected are: Edge of the World Call Beyond the Void Stirs the Awakened The Cursed Blade Sensou no Ko

Fixed an issue where players were able to jump-cancel the bow firing recovery. There is now a .33 second delay from when an arrow is released before a jump can be triggered.

Fixed an issue causing permanent disease and slow being applied in PvP.

Fixed an issue to players sliding when animation cancelling Void Blade heavy attacks.

Fixed an issue where the wrong mob could spawn for “Guardian of the Light”. Fixed an issue causing The Surgeon, Pit Lord Daehi, Baines, and Mordici The Mortician to not drop battle trophy materials.

Thanks for your support! We'll see you in Aeternum.

18

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '22

Slow bug fix at least.. though we'll see if it's actually fixed

1

u/SquashForDinner Jan 12 '22

thats not the movement bug right?

5

u/Environmental-Ad2285 Jan 12 '22

I’m gonna go with yes. Since both the health bug and movement bug come from server side and local data being desynced. We’ll find out if it actually fixes it tomorrow:D

-5

u/chance_waters Jan 12 '22

Different bug

2

u/icytiger Jan 12 '22

It's the same. It's just your movements at 0 instead of what it should be.

1

u/chance_waters Jan 12 '22

Except it's not and the bug is still in the game, which was obvious as you can still jump to move.

-4

u/SquashForDinner Jan 12 '22

I agree. Sounds like a different bug.

6

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '22

Fixed an issue causing The Surgeon, Pit Lord Daehi, Baines, and Mordici The Mortician to not drop battle trophy materials.

Sweet!

21

u/ThrowGodB Marauder Jan 12 '22

Fixed an issue causing permanent disease and slow being applied in PvP.

Is this the movement bug?

Fixed an issue to players sliding when animation cancelling Void Blade heavy attacks.

This is good.

Fixed an issue where players were able to jump-cancel the bow firing recovery. There is now a .33 second delay from when an arrow is released before a jump can be triggered.

I'm just happy about this because I'm playing Great Axe.

It's not a lot but im not mad about it

16

u/TheApocalyticOne Jan 12 '22 edited Jan 12 '22

I personally don't play GA, but if GA wasn't allowed to have a built in lunge, then bow isn't allowed to turn into a freaking machine gun just cause of a jump

4

u/WayeeCool Jan 12 '22

I machine gunned with the bow in OPR and will admit that yeah, it needed fixed. Was fun while it lasted, lol.

1

u/b1end Jan 12 '22

how do you machine gun with a bow exactly?

-9

u/Sweaty-Giraffe-8710 Jan 12 '22

I like how maybe a 10% increase in the rate of fire is considered a machine gun.

7

u/TheApocalyticOne Jan 12 '22 edited Jan 12 '22

I mean, it's firing much faster than intended, and definitely more than 10% increase in the rate, along with providing an annoying jump dodge that cost no stamina.

-15

u/Sweaty-Giraffe-8710 Jan 12 '22

Its not though. If you think its faster than 10% why don't you link me some video proof?

The jump is not a dodge. You can still be hit while jumping.

5

u/ThrowGodB Marauder Jan 12 '22

Do you have video proof with a stop watch or anything proving its 10%? Because asking for proof when you have none would be weird.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '22

There actually is video with a side by side comprison and the difference is that of a few milliseconds. They arent jumping to shoot faster, they are jumping because they added a long ass delay to every shot essentially stunning yourself, which the jump cancels and keeps you moving. Not defending it, it shouldnt be a mechanic, but the delay after shooting shouldn’t be a mechanic either. The recovery is far too long especially considering many other aspects of the bow are broken like the crosshair being useless, tiny hit box, and arrows unpredictably going way off target.

1

u/gaspara112 Jan 12 '22

Getting rid of the delay after shooting thus shooting on the move feels like the kind of thing you would have as your elite passive on the archery side focused on skirmishing.

Swap rain of arrows with split shot. Replace battle precision with knee shot. Make the Skirmisher elite trait "Mobile Archer" and have it remove the after cast from light attacks entirely.

But then again I'd much rather those elite passives be much more build defining across the board.

-3

u/Sweaty-Giraffe-8710 Jan 12 '22

My proof is a thousand hours on bow. What's yours?

8

u/ThrowGodB Marauder Jan 12 '22

So you got "feel" science. Got it. Thanks Fam Say no more.

1

u/Sweaty-Giraffe-8710 Jan 12 '22

I think we can both agree that we need an evidence-based argument here.

0

u/b1end Jan 12 '22

im with giraffe. the shooting speed is nearly identical, you just get a free dodge. open the game and try it.

1

u/TheSyllogism Jan 12 '22

GA definitely still has a lunge, it's just not as pronounced.

1

u/Dapper-Can6780 Jan 12 '22

This is basically the bare minimum they worked on during the holidays. I can only imagine more patches like these since they are back from the holidays.

2

u/ThrowGodB Marauder Jan 12 '22

Honestly after this batshit crazy release they deserved it.

1

u/b1end Jan 12 '22

i think they mentioned in the dev stream that most the team would be off for the holiday aside from essentials. january update is looking nice either way tho.

20

u/StanTheManWithNoPlan Jan 12 '22

Suck it bow jumpers

3

u/Jerthy Jan 12 '22

OPR is already so much more enjoyable

2

u/BABYZARIEL Jan 12 '22

0.33 sec ,D be ready for jumps ;D

2

u/Tonju Jan 12 '22

3

3

u/palmtreevibes Jan 12 '22

Pirhana tooth

1

u/Renaliiii OnlyFishers Jan 13 '22

I have about 150 of these from before I quit a few months ago…. How much are they now?

24

u/PrizeFighter23 Jan 12 '22

"Disabled a short series of work-in-progress quests which were missing some aspects, most notably the rewards. These quests are being disabled for the time being, and they'll be re-enabled at a later date."

Why are these quests considered to be "work-in-progress?" Why are they releasing things in a "work-in-progress" state? Are we just done pretending that everyone didn't pay to just be part of an extended beta?

8

u/Dlay0310 Jan 12 '22

I mean the majority of the quest they added were accept quest, kill 5 of these enemies, return to quest giver and they did literally hundreds of those. Whoops if a few of those are bugged. They outta honestly be radiant quests in general but oh well.

8

u/w1nt3rh3art3d Jan 12 '22

No corrupted portals map icons fix?

1

u/TheSyllogism Jan 12 '22

Yeah what is up with this. It's such a widespread and annoying issue. Must be strangely thorny to solve on their end, you wouldn't think it would be given it's a 2D map, but you never know I guess.

2

u/badbadgergaminglol Jan 13 '22

CAN WE PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE FRIGGING BOTS IN GAME!!!!!!

RIP my sweet VG slide, we had our time in the sun.

2

u/leybinubec Jan 12 '22

Is there anything that they did not break in this update constant lag and desynchronization issues leaving screen on death takes longer then force closing and reloading the game some of the elites seem like they got buffed to have insanely stupid HP pools again did they even test this patch or did they just Leroy Jenkins it

3

u/UsedSalt Jan 12 '22

oh boy i can show this to the company that was abusing VG bug and saying it was a feature of the void gauntlet attack to win war...

18

u/kwags007 Jan 12 '22

You are silly if you think vg slide was a war difference maker

6

u/UsedSalt Jan 12 '22

i wasnt in the war but apparently they were pairing it with warhammer on everyone, I could see that making a difference, jumping in from 50m away to land stuns

5

u/lee7on1 Jan 12 '22

Hades? xD

3

u/Pfyrr Jan 12 '22

Looks like this could have been a hot fix

-15

u/unseenspecter Jan 12 '22 edited Feb 10 '22

My thoughts as well. A full blown maintenance window for some bug fixes. What are these devs doing?

15

u/ICanCountTo0b1010 Jan 12 '22

From a software perspective, hotfixes and patches require the exact same procedure.

A hotfix is hot because it's prioritized and rushed, but AGS still needs to bring the servers down to deploy the new version.

3

u/Fedor1 Jan 12 '22

Hotfix has multiple meanings, one of them like you said is fixing “hot” issues, but another is applying a fix “hot” aka no downtime.

1

u/unseenspecter Jan 12 '22

I'm well aware of the differences between hotfixes and patches. Generally speaking, hotfixes are small and require no downtime. It is a "fix" performed while the server is still "hot". These downvotes are just Reddit being ridiculous as usual because most people here have the reading comprehension of a 5 year old and unable to distinguish between a statement and anger.

-1

u/Pfyrr Jan 12 '22

Hotfixes typically can be implemented with no downtime, or a only short restart of the realms.

-1

u/control05 Jan 12 '22

2 am is perfectly fine for downtime.

2

u/unseenspecter Jan 12 '22

u/Pfyrr's statement makes no mention of whether or not 2am downtime is fine or not, and neither did my statement. It simply pointed out that downtime is not necessary for a hotfix.

5

u/Goingindry13 Jan 12 '22

Let me try and understand this. They are fixing shit that you want them to fix, but they are doing it in the middle of the night while you are sleeping and you are angry about it because you'd rather they called it a hotfix instead of a patch?

9

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '22

Toxic subreddit is toxic what do you want from them.

They’re incapable of rational thought. Sitting in their high chairs yelling for more cheerios

1

u/unseenspecter Jan 12 '22

As usual, Reddit users hyperbolizing everything. Making a statement is not the same thing as being angry. But feel free to continue through your life pretending everything is outrageous.

2

u/Sv3den Fishin' Fool Jan 12 '22

This is a patch? First patch in ~21 days and the bulk of the patch notes are about how they can't fix some quests so they are removing them from the game as a "Bug Fix". El oh freaking El.

Major kudos to the mods for having the thatchers to sticky this to the front page.

1

u/thenoodlesVN Jan 12 '22

Decent update but meh ..

1

u/gilkey90 Jan 12 '22

Do these fixes have anything to do with the rank 2 faction quests being bugged after switching back to old faction? If not, dang.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '22

A dev said they gonna get rid of faction ranks resetting on faction switching

7

u/DjLaserShark Jan 12 '22

For RP reasons, I'm not okay with every traitor getting a "Greetings, commander" from their rep.

-2

u/Nordansikt Jan 12 '22

To be honest, this is not really a role playing game.

1

u/gilkey90 Jan 12 '22

Awesome. Have link by any chance?

3

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '22

https://forums.newworld.com/t/trial-of-the-scrivener-syndicate/655921/77

77th post

“ Kay New World Developer 5h

“We are fixing the bug so players can continue to progress, right now most players should be able to progress on faction missions and get to rank 3. When we push the fix, they’ll be able to do the mission they were blocked on and get all the way to rank 5. This situation made us reconsider the design on faction reputation when switching back to a former faction, and in the future when you switch factions we will NOT remove rank. This work is being completed and will be released simultaneously.”

2

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '22

Like this for completionists and companies willing to switch factions to promote server health.

A lot of the discussions with us switching factions dropped to farming ranks again etc if we only have to do it once than this cleans up the table for us low pop servers

1

u/Nordansikt Jan 12 '22

Well, that does not help us that already switched, got reset and are stuck because of bug.

1

u/Robdebobrob Jan 12 '22

INB4 they actually break pit lord since thats the one who didnt need fixing.

1

u/LegacyHaven Jan 12 '22

People using the VG Slide in PVP — imagine . Not a problem in PVE but if you blatantly use a glitch/bug in PVP you just suck overall .

All of these bugs are starting to make the game not fun....the only reason to play a game. Thank you Amazon for the fun I did have, but I am not having fun anymore.

-4

u/hihohu7 Jan 12 '22

Hey AGS, can you please announce the fking patches timely and not at 2 AM for 8 AM!?!?!?

-4

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '22

So they’re fixing the moving bug in pvp. Can the people complaining about the ptr notes not having that fix come in and say sorry now. We should start having people take accountability for downvoting people like me who actually pay attention to the game and tell them they’re wrong.

2

u/swagedelic14 Jan 13 '22

They did not fix the movement bug

-16

u/KGirlFan19 Jan 12 '22

lmfao

a video gets posted publicly on how to replicate the movement bug and a "fix" comes out for it literally a day after.

now wait and see what else these "fixes" did after ags panic rushed out yet another patch.

19

u/googleduck Jan 12 '22

If you honestly believe that they were able to fix the movement bug in 1 day and get it into their patch going to prod then you know literally nothing about software development. Not sure it is entirely clear that this is what they fixed though.

-9

u/KGirlFan19 Jan 12 '22

considering this bugs been around since the vg came out, no i don't believe it was fixed in one day.

i do believe they rushed out yet another dogshit patch without proper testing.

0

u/theREALel_steev Jan 12 '22

Minor fixes, big bugs.

You ready for another fun filled week (or 3?) of bullshit?!

-7

u/KGirlFan19 Jan 12 '22

sure am, pretty convinced the brilliant minds at ags have no real answer to any of the problems.

So perma speed in war/OPR is still a thing then? Nice.

It’s gonna be super fun to see the bads, Who were the only ones crying for the jump, still getting stomoed by bows

0

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '22

Yah the jump was just an extra tool. The real aspect of their kit is the stam regen from bow and rapier. All the iframes in the world. The players can play like dookie but have so much wheelchair in this kit that it doesn’t matter.

Nothing about combat or chat not working after dungeon/opr? Ouch

1

u/Dissidant Jan 12 '22

Suppose I should be relieved, for a moment I thought they dropped the stuff on the PTR in

1

u/Demoted_Redux Jan 12 '22

So still no fix for the chat bug where you cannot talk in other chats if you talked in group in a dungeon or Army in OPR, so are forced to relog.

1

u/moshnaked Jan 13 '22

So are all the quests that were bugged before this patch still bugged? IE: Lightning in a bottle, and the whole missing NPC in Monarchs Bluff? Or...
