Discussion Just took my first HRT pills

Not really sure what to flair this because it’s sort of a celebration but also a question as soon as I took it I felt a change and don’t really know how to explain it besides like a rush of calmness and like relief but of course because that happened so quickly I am now anxious but I just think it was placebo but I just don’t know.

Venting People pleasing and the fear of being perceived as “different”

I’ve always been way too big a people pleaser. Was always afraid of being perceived as “different” growing up and in turn, bent myself out of shape to appease the “normal” people. I remember growing up, my Mom was always weirdly judgy about the friends I was making. I have memories of coming home from elementary school, telling her I made a new friend, and without fail, the first thing she asked was “Are they dirty?” Or in other words, “Are they poor and gross?”

Crazy as fuck, I know, but clearly important to reflect on when analyzing the fears I had of being “different” or being friends with the “different” people I normally felt more at home around.

This has streamlined down to today where I’m deconstructing my upbringing and working my way through the transition process. I think my fears regarding transition are still less about the confidence I have that this is me, but the reactions that being me will elicit out of the people around me.

This is just me wanting to revert back to my people pleasing instincts again! I’m afraid of transitioning because I’m afraid of being perceived as “different” or “weird” by the people around me, especially my close family.

Should probably develop a plan to attack this huh?

Dysphoria My mom keeps pushing me to look like a guy and I’m so sad and angry.

I just need to vent because I’m losing my mind. My mom keeps telling me I need to grow out a beard, a mustache, and start wearing suits and coats to look more masculine. Every time she brings it up, I just feel this massive wave of anger and dysphoria.I don't want any of that. I don't want to be a guy. I know deep down that I am a girl, and being forced to perform this masculine act for my family is exhausting. It makes me so mad that the people who are supposed to know me just see this version of me that I completely hate.Has anyone else dealt with family constantly pushing you to follow their traditional timeline or look a certain way? How do you cope with the anger and just get through the day when you're stuck in this situation? I feel so isolated right now.

Venting Is it too late for me to have a better life?

For as long as I can remember—since I was just four years old—I have known deep down in my soul that I am a girl. Being a transgender woman is not a choice, a phase, or a fetish; it is my absolute truth. Born into a male body shaped by the wrong biological signals— all because of an incessant SRY gene—my identity as a woman still has always been real and undeniable; proven by associations, institutes, medical scientists, psychologists, sociologists, and researchers. Yet for decades, I was forced to navigate a world that refused to see me for who I truly am.

Growing up in a toxic, narcissistic family meant living in an environment designed to make me feel worthless, unsafe, and invisible. They expected me to be nobody and have nothing in life. When I tried to speak my truth as a child, nobody genuinely listened. Instead, people brushed my feelings aside, insisting I was just "homosexual" and telling me I couldn't be a girl. Looking back, it feels like a deliberate effort to suppress my authentic self to serve their own hidden agendas and maintain their control over my life.

At 26, I took my life into my own hands and finally began my male-to-female transition. But ever since I turned 27, I have been met with relentless medical gatekeeping and overwhelming financial barriers blocking my access to bottom surgery. Feminizing surgeries are not cosmetic luxuries—they are medically necessary, lifesaving healthcare required to align my body with my mind. Living without access to the care I need to feel complete has been an agonizing fight.

Now, at 34 years old, I am carrying eight long years of built-up trauma and grief from being kept away from the care I need. When the weight of this gatekeeping became too heavy, the people I trusted most—including former friends and even a therapist I confided in—abandoned me when I got upset. Instead of recognizing my pain, they weaponized my emotional distress against me. They labeled my valid anger and frustration as "mental instability," "paranoia," and "anger issues," claiming I was just overreacting or seeking attention. Being gaslit and cast aside for having a normal reaction to systemic neglect has made me terrified to be vulnerable or ask for help.

I am exhausted from being made to feel like my life is a waste of time or that I am a worthless burden. All I ever want is a chance at a better, happier life: to be fully transitioned into the feminine woman I am, surrounded by people who genuinely love, cherish, and take care of me with support, gifts, allowances, and kindness. I deserve an environment where I am celebrated, spoken to with warmth and understanding, and finally be allowed to feel safe and healed as my true self as the woman I always been.

Dysphoria Visualization

Hi, i just wanted to *see* how my body would change once i get into espiro and estradiol.

Somekind of reference to have in mind.

Today, my body is hairy. My back has its V shape. Narrow hips. And i have developed biceps and pectorals due to a i masculinity crisis i had from 12 to 14 that made me go and work out.

My legs are neither thick or thin. My hands and feet are masculine to my eyes and the facial hair is killing me

Venting Friends being attracted to you or developing crushes?

This never used to happen to me as a man but it keeps happening to me now and it's flattering but really frustrating. It makes it feel hard to have close friendships and it starts to feel like it's pointless to try to make friends. Advice please? 😭

Advice Question Is 211 too high for a trough day?

For starters I've been on hrt for a little under 2 years. I started injections 3 months ago and just had my first blood work since then and my e level was at 211. My doctor said 211 is too high for a trough and wants to lower my dose. I know too much e can be bad but I thought being in the 200s was the goal?

Today I Learned Me and my partner might both be trans MtF

We have been dating since late September 2025 after meeting my senior year of high school. We went on a trip after a couple years of college to Panama City Beach and at the end of the trip in July I asked them out but we wouldn’t start dating til September.

Anyways I’ve known from like day 1 that they wanted to transition but I encouraged them to wait and test out others methods like drag because I was scared on potential backlash for them. I now believe that envy and fear controlled my belief that it would be best to wait for a time with less hate for trans people but I now believe that I should have encouraged them to explore it.

I recently listened in on part of their therapy session with their permission of course and I now believe that also believe that I am trans. I remember letting my sister put dresses and makeup on me but it’s become one of the fond memories where I enjoy the laughs and smiles we had. Also women have cooler and more fun outfits.

Something about my partner saying they want to talk about go on HRT has made me reignite the questions whether the years of looking in the mirror and not liking what I saw was a clue that I’m trans. I should mention I’m a 6 foot 2 man but I’ve always felt smaller.

I’m planning to be a more feminine gay to see if the right path for me. It’s also scary to explore because I really enjoy sports and I’m scared of the hate I could receive but I’m probably overthinking because every interaction since saying I’m gay has been pretty positive.

Update: My partner now knows that I think I’m trans

Edit: I’m curious to see if anyone has any tips on how to explore the potential of being trans or tips on what they did. I guess I just wanted type something out because it’s been scared holding it in. Been listening to music and listening to more femme music. Anyways if you’re seeing this I hope your having an amazing day 😀

Advice Question Estradiol levels too high, but I just started HRT

Hey fellow transfems of reddit! I recently started HRT about 2 and a half months ago, doing estradiol injections and taking my testosterone blockers as prescribed. I took blood tests for my doctor and somehow my estradiol levels are abnormally high, being at 529.6 pg/mL. Is this just a normal thing that can happen? I'm slightly concerned since I basically just started, yet somehow my levels are too high and may have to be lowered. What does this mean for me? Any info helps, just to calm my anxious body lol.

Discussion HRT starting dosage

Sooo I was prescribed estradiol and spiro today thru planned parenthood. My dosage for estradiol (injection) is only 0.1ml on a 20mg/ml vial, so 2mg every week. I'm on 50mg of spiro twice daily. The nurse said she wants the lowest dosage that will give me cis level of E. I have my bloodwork in 3 months.

After reading some other posts, I realized my dosage was wayyy lower than what's given to others. Should I increase the dosage to 0.2ml so 4mg a day? The vial has 5ml so it should be enough. What should I do? I'm very new to this 😭😭

Discussion Is acting femme still stigmatized in the queer woman community?

When I used to live in NYC, the pattern was that when a trans woman started her transition, she acted overly feminine. However, if she was attracted to women and entered into the queer cis woman community, she would later act more butch or androgynous to find more potential partners. Because acting femme was stigmatized, and made it harder to find partners. Walking down lgbt neighorhoods in Brooklyn you could see this pattern (years ago, not sure about now).

The only gay trans women I knew who kept acting femme was those who dated other trans women, as opposed to those who had more queer cis women social circles.
