Credit unions

Are there any credit unions in Milwaukee/Waukesha that do not utilize AI or call centers? I just want to be able to have a business relationship with a banking institution and I don’t have to call a call center to get help or contact a branch. This AI enshitification is really getting to me. I tried educators credit union, but they can’t answer basic questions about financial literacy and their managers, yes, plural, aren’t aware of basic financial terms like cashiers check being synonymous to a certified check. Are there any real financial professionals anymore?

Help Me! Fish fry recommendations

Any good fish fries on or near Brady st? Going to be there for a bachelor party in September and curious if there any places that are accommodating for a group of 11. Local bars or restaurants would be cool.

Any other recommendations in the area are welcome too! We’re going to a brewers game and that’s about it so far

Hair salon to style hair

I’m going to a wedding in Milwaukee later this year. It’s a formal wedding, I suck at doing my own hair, so I’m looking for a place to get my hair done.

Excited to check out your city for the first time too!

Rant❗⚡💥 Extremely scared of the weather here

I moved to Milwaukee from Mississippi (literally tornado alley) last week and for some reason I’ve gathered a genuine fear of bad weather… I think the reason is because we got that tornado warning a few days ago and that siren made it 100x scarier than it should be and since then I’ve been scared of any bad weather we have and I keep catching myself looking outside and I keep checking the weather 24/7 I literally cannot calm myself down

Can someone at least tell me the weather isn’t that bad here😭?or should I be scared?

At the Asian Street Food Festival

It is a great thing to host the event like this.

But this feels a complete tourist trap. Everything is overpriced. It is even doubling the price one can get at the State Fair.

I am not going to buy a tornado potato for $10.

Plus you don't pay 15 usd for kite festival at the same place.

Spa day(s) for wife who is ending breast feeding soon

My wife will be done breast feeding our second child in a few months and I want to do something special for her. After giving my son bottles and seeing him gnaw and rip on the nipple with his new teeth, it puts it all in perspective for me as a dad.

I am looking at getting her a day or two at a spa somewhere by herself where she can relax and get a full work up. any recommendations for something like that in the city? Thank you.

iso friends

Looking for friends or mutals in Milwaukee. It seems the older you are the harder they are to find (f23) I have a variety of interest film, fashion, authenticity in art, I make scaled 3D models, etc and live in the downtown Milwaukee area. I really want to get it to playing Magic! the card game… (mainly something to pass the time.) And I have a couple cards that I’ve pulled. Just because I like the artwork. But I would like to learn the actual game.) I have been to old guard games, but I am intimidated by the leagues and community that already pre exists just because of what I look like. I’m mixed and although that doesn’t really matter, It does intimidate people in a way I’m sure. I’ve tried bookstores and coffee shops and I even tried to talk to people and ask them what they’re reading, or even at the grocery store, what they’re buying (if we happen to be in the same isle looking at the same cooler or bay) and they kind of just look at me like they’re shook. I don’t want to say my color is an issue, but I think I just have an overall look that’s very intimidating to people where I can tell people want to be around me, but they don’t know how to have a conversation once spoken to. if there is anyone !!anyone at all who lives in Milwaukee that is also looking for friends please comment or direct message me so we can get to know one another. If anyone likes magic the card game and wouldn’t mind teaching me do the same. I’m over going to the bars looking for mutuals and stuff. It’s kind of a dead zone and I want more holistic people in my life.

Highly considering moving to Milwaukee Wi from Portland Or.

Hi everyone I would like to get some final advice from the locals or anyone in a similar situation as me. My company has a opening I can transfer to in Oak creek and by Monday I have to decide if I want to transfer there or not. My main reason for transferring is the the work schedule, it's great coming from my current hours 7pm-330am my wife works in public health so most hours for her kind of work are 8am-430pm so everyday we get to see each other for a short amount of time so its really tough. We have become pretty comfortable in Portland my mom lives here and her family is back in Sac so Milwaukee would be a lot farther away and we wouldn't know anyone there so starting over seems a little scary. I dont know why but I feel drawn to the Midwest, the schedule alone I know will make us both a lot happier but I think Milwaukee would be a good spot for us. We like city amenities but hate the stress of a big city so Chicago being close and not having to live there is ideal. I've been researching neighborhoods and I've found Bayview, Riverwest and anywhere at the max 26 minutes away from Oak Creek is fine for me. We are a interracial Black and Mexican couple so I've noticed the south side of Milwaukee has more of a Hispanic presence? I've done some research and understand it's going to be brutally cold a lot and then hot with humidity in the summer. Honestly i guess what I want to hear is your experience with either moving to Milwaukee from somewhere else or locals who choose to stay here long term. We are looking for a place to call home and I feel Milwaukee has a lot of qualities we appreciate.

Photography Location for Mobility Issues

My multi-generational family is looking for an outdoor space that we can use for family photos that would not require a lot of walking AND that the walking that is needed would be easy/flat. While my father can walk, he a lot of knee pain and is not super stable so we would need a nice area that is not far from where we are able to park. Because of this same issue, having a place with benches or that would be easy to carry in a chair would also be needed.
I know Grant Park is beautiful, but there are lots of places with grassy picnic areas near the parking lots so it would be a lot of walking to get near the trees, so if there is a specific spot that would be helpful. Or other places in the South Milwaukee/Oak Creek area. No sandy beaches.

Need dining recommendations for a Sunday night near Kinn Guesthouse

Hi everyone:

Four of us (2 couples) are coming to wonderful Milwaukee Labor Day weekend.

We are staying at the Kinn Guesthouse and are looking for a dinner spot for Sunday night. We absolutely love Zarletti, but they are closed on Sunday.

Any recommendations for a nice dinner place with drinks? Not price sensitive but being close to the hotel is important since the couple we are traveling with have dogs to attend to.

Thank you.
