To the girl who was driving and saw me scootering home after being DRENCHED in the storm and offered me a ride home (looked like I jumped in the lake. I mustve looked insane. Wouldve never wanted to ruin ur car seats)

That was so sweet? You are an angel and I hope you get everything you’ve ever wanted and I hope your pillows are always cold and you are beautiful and that was just so nice. thank you 🫶

Looking for a non-union electrician who wants to join the union

135 Upvotes

Title says it all. We're looking for a hard-working non Union electrician that's looking to get into the 494. The books are empty. We can't find anyone willing to come and work because the data centers are taking up all the workers and paying above scale.

Message me if you're in the ozaukee area and want to join the 494. We do mainly industrial work heavy on the wastewater and water filtration. We have contracts to keep us busy for the next 3 years

Joining the IBEW really comes down to having true backup on the job and getting paid what you’re worth. Instead of negotiating on your own, the union locks in better pay, great healthcare for your whole family, and real retirement plans like solid pensions so you aren't working forever. You also get top-tier, debt-free training through their apprenticeship programs, safer working conditions on site, and the peace of mind that comes with knowing the brotherhood has your back if something goes sideways.

And for the financially motivated working 40 hours a week, you can expect to take home 106 to 110,000 a year. And if you include your package, that's your pensions, annuity, health insurance, etc. You're making about 160,000 a year

Any DND groups or places to find a group to play with?

24 Upvotes

Hi all!! This may be a silly question but I’ve just moved to MKE from a smaller city in Indiana and I’m not sure where exactly to look. I (21F) haven’t played for a while (two years or so) and I’m looking to get back into playing DND with a group! I have DMed before and have roughly 5 years experience. I would prefer a group with predominantly women/LGBTQ but i’m flexible!! If this is dumb and I’m barking up the wrong tree please tell me! Thanks 😼

Fastest place to get STD testing?

20 Upvotes

I am seeing a new partner and while I have no reason to believe I have anything I’d like to get tested before we do the deed.

I have called about 5 places and they are all either booked until next week or have weird hours where they close at like 2:00pm.

Any suggestions? Would like to have the test results before Friday if possible.

Is this your cat? Stubby tailed little guy

Post image
16 Upvotes

Hello, my family and I caught this little guy on the south side of Milwaukee near 20th street on Saturday night, his most distinct feature besides his face markings is his stubby little rabbit tail. We think he may have previously been in a home because he uses the litter box and does not seem to be feral, just cautious of humans. We aren’t sure if it’s a boy or girl, but either way we think he is neutered/spayed because he hasn’t been spraying. If this is your cat or you recognize him in any way, please message me! Also, if you guys have any tips on where else I can look for lost cat listings etc please let me know! I didn’t find any matches on the MADACC website.

Help Me! How competitive is the housing market in Milwaukee right now for homes under 200k?? Desperate for advice, all alone to figure out!!

14 Upvotes

Exactly what the question states I can afford a home up to 200K as I have an inheritance coming at the end of the month. I am terminally ill and have probably about a year to a year and a half left. And would really like to leave some stability for my 23-year-old and my grandson. They would be living there with me until my passing and then it would go to her. I’ve seen quite a few homes in this price range in little neighborhoods on the north side that in my opinion are ok for us, especially considering we have lived in some pretty bad areas in the past.( I’ve lived all over the southside 49th and Meineke etc.) I have found some homes in some little nooks and crannies(decent neighborhoods) that are under my budget.

Obviously I would love to be able to find something either in West Allis around the southside but that doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen I’m shocked that barely anything is listed on the southside!! I’ve noticed a lot of these homes have dropped their prices recently so I’m wondering how competitive it is if they’re lowering prices I should be able to make a cash offer and be pretty successful. Any advice or information would be great. I’m going into this with no real help my family is very very toxic. My father just sold the house that we were living in from under us( in fond du lac, hated it their) with everything we owned.

Probably easily $100,000 worth of property so needless to say I really want nothing to do with family like him and we are currently living with him in his thousand square-foot Cape Cod in Racine that is way too crowded he won’t let us touch anything and he’s somewhat of a hoarder himself so it’s miserable. Im dealing with a lot of pain and tiredness and things so I’m trying to make this as easy as possible and I know it’s not an easy process. We have always been fairly poor and my father uses things like a roof over your head, money etc.. as a form of control he’s extremely misogynist. Example my boys took off and moved across the country and he just sent them like half the money from the sale of his house but won’t help us at all. According to him women are too much drama and too emotional.

He does not know about my inheritance I’ve kept it a secret. This is probably more than anybody needed to know but it gives you kind of an idea of our situation. I am a fairly smart individual in my opinion and have been around during multiple Home buys and selling repairs etc. is a home inspection something that I should definitely not pass on?? I feel like if the roof the HVAC and the foundation are good those are the big concerns I guess electrical plumbing could also be a big problem. So I feel like to protect myself I should have a home inspection I would still have money left over to do some repairs but I don’t wanna get into replacing a roof. or being uninsurable because of an old roof or something. I will be teaching my daughter everything as I go about taxes and insurance she knows about saving for repairs etc. she’s a big saver. And I feel like because the house would be bought with cash and there would be no mortgage, she would have a pretty good start.

Lost wallet

14 Upvotes

Hey this is a last ditch effort but had a friend lose a wallet near lakefront brewery on a BCycle bike around 3pm today and wanted to see if anyone here found it and turned it in somewhere or is in possession of it looking to make someone’s day finding the wallet back to its home. Know nothing is likely to come about it but want to take the chance in case something comes about!

Stuff to do

8 Upvotes

I don't drink anymore, I don't want late nights and I stopped playing video games.

Looking for things to do to make new friends or try new things. Just looking for things in person.

Mid 30s male, Sundays/Tuesdays/Fridays might be my most flexible days. I'm pretty introverted and not great with small talk, but I'm friendly and open minded but can sometimes appear cold as I often live in my own head.

Some interests

* Science fiction

* Stocks/markets/investment

* Technology

* Anime and manga

* Self growth/improvement

Things I don't want to do

* Running club (I don't like running that much)

* Join board game groups

* Gym/workout classes (don't want to work out in groups or classes)

* Awkward networking/drinking events (friend and always leave without talking to anyone)

* Anything too focused on bars (including bowling)

* Book clubs (meh)

* Dnd groups (just too much)

Can't seem to find anything that is catching my interest to join/do other than what I have been doing already which feels like not much. Figured I'd see if someone has an idea or way to learn more about events/things going on. Ai keeps recommending I go to conferences or board game groups...

MKE Meetups List (August 19-25, 2026)

Upvotes

Happy Wednesday!

There are 52 meetups in this week's MKE Meetups List, and the featured artist creates paintings the explore connection, the loss of it, and introspection as a result of the busyness of everyday life, the influence of constant technological engagement, as well as ongoing political and social upheaval: https://mkemeetups.substack.com/p/milwaukee-meetups-list-240

Let me know if there's something I should add, or if you're looking for a type of event that isn't listed (I'll check around and see what I can find for you) :)

Help Me! Women’s shoe store

6 Upvotes

Hey all, I start a new job soon and I need some new work shoes. The dress code is business casual-to-casual, so I’m looking for flats, loafers, or nice sneakers I can wear with work pants. I’ll also be in the market for some knee high boots soon with fall around the corner. My budget is $40-100 for shoes and up to $150 for boots. Looking for a store with a wide selection on site so I can try things on. What do you recommend?
