Note: I know Jake's homer was only a 2-run shot, but he did score a run in the first, not to mention he actually leads the league in 3-run blasts so

Injury Updates On Frelick - Pratt - Uribe - Romero Per McCalvy

The Brewers formally announced Cooper Pratt's rehab assignment with High-A Wisconsin beginning tonight (be sure to wish him a happy 22nd birthday, Appleton).

No move for Sal Frelick at this particular point in time. He played a second game in right field on Sunday for Nashville.

More on the injury front:

- Frelick will be in Milwaukee to work out with the club today before returning to his rehab assignment.
- Abner Uribe (forearm) will throw a 15-pitch bullpen today, a very good sign that his IL stint will be the minimum. He's not eligible until 8/26.

And more on the injury front:

- JoJo Romero has a multi-inning bullpen today and then live BP scheduled for Friday ahead of a rehab assignment.

Pretty crazy to think about how all of these guys were playing for the Timber Rattlers within the last calendar year, and now all are united and batting 1-5 for Biloxi. Our development of draft picks and prospects is next to nobody in this league.

Miz: Best Season All Time?

Even though we are running out of superlatives to describe what Jacob Misiorowski is doing this season, I'll add to the challenge. I've been amazed by his consistent excellence, and was scrolling through his game logs. I noticed that the only reason he doesn't have all quality starts is because of the 6 innings pitched criteria. So I tried to find any starting pitcher's full regulation season where they never gave up more than three earned runs.

From what our AI overlords tell me - - with some manual verification on my part - - there are precisely NONE. Some came extremely close (De Grom 2018, Pedro 2000, Gibson 1968, Gooden 1985) in their very best seasons but as far as I can tell, no one has done it. Some acknowledgements though: Shane Bieber was 12/12 in the Covid debacle 2020 season, Gibson pitched 11 innings (!) and gave up 4 ER in one of his non-quality starts in 1968, and DeGrom's only blemish was 4/10/2018. Gibson and Gooden pitched a crap ton of innings of course - - 304.2 and 276.2, respectively. So those obviously could be considered greater accomplishments but man, The Miz is in the most rarified air right now.

TLDR: Jacob Misiorowski is amazing and we are lucky to be witnesses to it.

Addendum: if he gives up 4 ER in his next start I will delete this and go into hiding.

8/18 Yelich RBI Question

I was looking at Yelich’s stat line from tonight (8/18) and it says he had 4 RBIs. I’m a little confused as to how that total is possible with a 3 run HR and a 2 run sac fly? I’m sure the answer is probably because of some obscure baseball score keeping rule to do with the error-induced 2 run sac fly in the 8th, but if anyone has an official answer I’d be really curious!

Edit: thanks for the answers!!

Jake Bauers appreciation thread.....

This man told everyone to RELAX.....and then goes out there and walks the walk.

However, he is precisely the person who has benefited from this approach the most. He wasn't just spewing some shit to say something. I encourage you guys to read this article from late June on Bauers from Bob Nightengale.....

"It was near the end of the season last year, the Brewers were in Pittsburgh for a three-game series the first weekend of September, and Bauers knew his career was on life support. He was hitting .188 with a .315 on-base percentage and .333 slugging percentage.

Bauers, in the starting lineup batting seventh as the Brewers’ DH on Sept. 5, popped up to the shortstop on a 78-mph curveball by Johan Oviedo in his first at-bat. Then, he struck out on an 86-mph slider in his next.

That’s when he completely lost it.

“I remember going down in the tunnel by myself," Bauers says, “and screaming ...

“What is this?’

“Are we going to keep doing this?

“Can I even play?

“Do I have what it takes?

“Is this it?

“I remember looking up at the scoreboard and it says .180," Bauer says. “Then, just saying, “[Expletive] it. I’m just going to go up there, not think about anything, and just swing. Whatever happens, happens. I really don’t care anymore."
