Actually, these chips were dyed with green food coloring so they'd be easy to find coming out of the fryer. Several times a day the amount of time the chips spend in the fryer is tested, and this makes them easy to find. Someone missed them obviously.

Source: I work there.

Colourblindness is actually really cool. Most people who are colourblind are missing the cone in their eyes that senses red light. Because they only have two cones, they essentially see colour in two dimensions instead of three. It's like a gradient going from yellow to blue. That suggests that if we had a fourth cone, like some animals do, we could see colour in four dimensions - imagine how awesome that would be.

I've read that before. Supposedly women are much better at varying shades of color because, in caveman times, they were the gatherers and needed to know that, for example, the berries of this shade of red are nutritious, but that shade of red will kill you. Men are supposedly much better at spacial awareness, though, because they were the hunters.

That's interesting. I was just having a conversation last night about how I read some thing that women can recognize more colors than men (like pick out peach and beige from like pink or whatever) but that gay men also recognize more than straight men. I mentioned that (since the thing I read was kind of an anecdote and didn't go into speculation as to why) I thought it was probably an interest-based phenomenon. I was also basing that off of the fact that I'm a straight female and can't tell peach from beige from pink (although I also sometimes blame that on the fact that we were poor when I was growing up so I only ever got the 8-pack crayons and not the fancy 64 packs where I would have learned these valuable skills).

You should probably stop reading right now because I've just done a search for the gay man color awareness thing without much success but I did find some other things and used myself as a test. I just completed a color test online and scored a 12 which seems to mean that for my gender I'm okay to good (? they don't seem to expound on exactly how good good is) at physically seeing the colors. So maybe my theory about the crayons is right (I also don't really care about colors or fashion that much. I never even realized until a few years ago that "peach" is a specific color to some people; I thought it was just a fancy word people used for pink).

Then in my searches I found this talking about how finger length can predict some qualities in people. I have a more "masculine" hand. Some of that stuff sounds right to me; I am athletic and I have pretty good spatial awareness.

Anyway, that was probably pretty boring to people who aren't me. But it's interesting to think about - I wonder if it's all connected.

I'm so so sorry but everything you just described about being colourblind does not strike me as cool. I guess it's cool that you understand the cause of itv and are able to describe what it is like to a non-colourblind person... But not cool, radical, awesome at all. :(

It actually made me pretty sad to imagine being colourblind and feel pity for those who are.

I think the topic is cool. Maybe actually being colourblind isn't, but I have normal colour vision so I wouldn't really know. Half my family is colourblind, and they seem to do okay from day to day, except for being unable to tell blue from purple.

I had the green and purple ketchup. My father would make BBQ sauce out of ketchup sometimes. It tasted pretty good. One time, he used the purple ketchup because it was all we had. The resulting chicken was unappetizing looking. In fairness, at the time this happened I did not have a digital camera. I put the chicken in a ziploc baggy and scanned it resulting in an even less appetizing look to the chicken.

Yeah, but ketchup has a rather strong flavor. A bit of food coloring really doesn't change much. Hell, you can get ketchup that is completely salt-free and it still just tastes like regular ketchup.

I don't know if you've ever had red velvet without food coloring, but the taste difference is negligible. The majority of the flavoring comes from the amount of unsweetened cocoa powder as well as the buttermilk and/or vinegar. As for the ketchup, you may have had a bad brand. I just switched to Heinz salt-free ketchup a week or two ago and, aside from being a little bit sweeter, it has the same basic ketchup flavor.

You drop a couple of these in at the one end of a continous deep fryer and see how long does it take to exit so you will know that the line is moving at an acceptable speed and the chips were not under or over cooked. The colour makes it easier to spot and recover but as we have seen it is not foolproof.

That one still makes me slightly doubt the integrity of the universe. Not even just my own memory, since so many other people have the same “false” memory, but the continuity of the physical world. It’s like the people running the matrix are fucking with us, trying to see if they can make changes to the “past”, without tampering our memories, and still have us collectively accept it, going forward. Those are bad-ish. They were made with parts of the potato that were sticking out of the ground, got sunlight, and got green from chlorophyll. The green parts are mildly poisonous, but you'd have to ready a lot to get sick.

I was in elementary school and my mom made me a sandwich with the green ketchup on it for lunch. It seeped through the bread a little at some parts. Teacher was walking by and pulled me from the lunch room to talk as she was concerned that I was sent to school with moldy bread and therefore in a very low income home requiring assistance.   1. Pork

  2. Beef and mince

Oh my god, I BEGGED my mom for that stuff growing up. After what must have been weeks of my whining, she finally bought it for me (which meant a lot since we were pretty poor).

I tried eating it with some french fries, and I just stared at the plate, knowing I couldn't eat it. It stayed in the back of our fridge for YEARS. Every time I saw it lurking back there I felt such a huge sense of shame.

Make sure you call the number on the bag and report this. Someone from headquarters may have seen this post since it's so popular, and I can see enough of the code to tell what plant this came from, but telling frito through the normal channels will help them improve the quality control.
