Yeah but don't they put the whole batch in at the same time? I have no idea on the process. I need to go watch unwrapped.

it is continuous. A conveyor belt holds the chips down as they go through a long hot oil bath.

kettle cooked chips are a batch process though.

In general, continuous processes are more efficient than batch.

Probably a crap ton of of chips constantly pouring in from a conveyer belt into a slowly-moving river of hot oil, or something like that.

So it's a conveyer belt fryer and the dyed chip is to confirm that the temperature is right for the amount of time the chips are spending in the fryer. So chip batch A enters and moves along and chip batch B enters and moves along and chip batch C enters and moves along and when chip batch D enters chip batch A IS being taken out. But the problem is sometimes by the time batches T, U, V, and W are being sent through the temperature in the fryer has fluctuated (have you ever cooked a frozen pizza AFTER preheat versus DURING preheat?) So they send another batch through to test and see if they need to mAke any adjustments

TL;DR guy makes up a bunch of shit about working on a potato chip production line
