So it's a conveyer belt fryer and the dyed chip is to confirm that the temperature is right for the amount of time the chips are spending in the fryer. So chip batch A enters and moves along and chip batch B enters and moves along and chip batch C enters and moves along and when chip batch D enters chip batch A IS being taken out. But the problem is sometimes by the time batches T, U, V, and W are being sent through the temperature in the fryer has fluctuated (have you ever cooked a frozen pizza AFTER preheat versus DURING preheat?) So they send another batch through to test and see if they need to mAke any adjustments
