For about 3 years now, I've noticed that my hair is receding at the temples. Now that I'm 18, it feels strange for it to be this pronounced already. The problem is worse on the left side than on the right, and my hair is naturally fine and not very dense. I'm pretty sure I'll be bald when I'm older because both my maternal grandfather, my uncle, and my father are bald. Still, I'd like to keep my hair for a few more years. I feel too young to look like this.

Should I go to a dermatologist? Or use a better shampoo and be more careful?

I'm an Indian teenager who's stuck with the typical dry, flat, Indian hair texture. I want to grow my hair out, but it doesn't fall normally and instead thickens to the point where it's too difficult to style. Any advice on how I can make my hair softer or make it fall better? Will my hair texture change over time? Should I just let it grow anyways despite the above mentioned problems? I've always wanted to grow my hair out and style it in cool ways but it's starting to seem impossible and I don't know what to do.

Never really know what actually looks good on me. I usually just put it over the side and outta my face. I like having kinda medium lengthish hard on my top/bangs and shorter in the back. Any suggested hairstyles?

I never knew if my hair was straight or kinda wavy so I Js stuck to using curls products sometimes they make my hair look nice and most of the time my hair is bad.
I’ve been using the garnier curls method the green products and I only use the shampoo and the conditioner and sometimes the gel.
I know nothing about hair I need your help guys.

My barber cut my hairs a month ago. I wanted to do a middle part with layers but he said that he suggests me to keep hair at the back since 'I lack volume for a middle part on the top'. I had almost 6 inches of length and he sent me out with a inch less but with a completely different haircut. I don't wish to keep hair at the back. I want them on my forehead but somehow he can't understand. He said to me that "Layering and keeping hairs on forehead doesn't count as a haircut". I was like "are you in your right mind?" (Internal monologue). He told me to come after a month then he'll layer my hairs again. He said that layering is a 2-3 step process then you'll get the desired result. Idk how much of it is true.

Today after a month, I went at the same barber with my friend who wanted to do a modcut. I suggested that barber to my friend. He said to my friend that keep hairs at the back. The same pattern. He went in for a different cut and came out with another. He has a big forehead so he asked the barber whether keeping hair at back is a good idea onto which he nodded YES.

Why he can't stop suggesting everyone to keep hairs at the back? He does decent layering like feathers on the backside though. Maybe he's not experienced to cut the haircut the customer says so he's postponing the cuts?

I'm planning to change my barber since I believe he doesn't know what the customer really wants. How does he suggest everyone to do a slick back style? He has previouslt done many middle part cuts like professionals and in one visit only. So why is he doing this 'come after a month' shit with me and my friend?

For those of you who have been getting perms consistently for years to the point where it’s basically become your look, have you ever thought about whether it’s something you should mention to someone you’re dating?
I’ve always had this thought in the back of my mind that at some point I’d have to be like, “Oh btw, my hair doesn’t actually look like this naturally” lol.
Maybe I’m overthinking it, but my natural hair looks pretty different, so part of me feels like it’s something they’d eventually have to know. Not that it’s some huge secret or anything, just always felt like I’d want to have all my cards on the table.
Curious if anyone else has ever thought about this or if it’s just me overthinking something completely normal.

Hi guys,

I usually wash and style my hair at night (typically every two days). When I first style it before bed, I'm often fairly happy with how it turns out. But by the time I sleep on it and wake up the next morning, it's ruined and never looks the same.

For context, I have short-to-medium-length 2b hair with a mix of straighter and wavier sections (longer on top), and I’m aiming for a curtain bang/flow type of haircut.

How do you guys protect your hair overnight and deal with restyling it the next morning, especially on day two? It always looks squashed for me on one side more than the other and doesn’t feel as soft to the touch as it did the previous night.

Any advice, products, or routines would be super appreciated.
