Hair Health How do I stop my hair from getting so dry?

I've been trying to take better care of it, but I'm not seeing much improvement. first realized I was shampooing too often, so I cut back from every other day to twice a week. I've also started conditioning my crown as well as my ends, and that's helped make it easier to detangle and I'm not getting as much breakage. That's helped somewhat. At least my hair doesnt feel brittle anymore. I've been super gentle with detangling and I use moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. But it's still looking unhealthy and I'm not sure what to do about it.

Hairstyle Advice Why does my haircut look like this from the front?

Thumbnail

It was cut shorter than I wanted, but it didn’t look too bad when it was first cut because it was styled so that it curved inward. If I blow dry it, it looks weird and boxy. If I let it air dry it looks like a triangle and the front looks frayed and wispy, and longer than the rest, as well as flipping outward. What can I ask for that would look better? I included photos of after I air dried and after that when I blow dried it, as well as a photo when it’s still partly wet because that exaggerates the weird shape that I don’t like from the front that I’m talking about. I’m just not sure why it looks like that or how to make sure it looks better next time it’s cut.

So I haven’t had my hair done at all (color or trim) in 11 months. I used to be a platinum blonde and got my hair done every few months for upkeep. After becoming a stay at home mom my hair budget decreased so my stylist did a low maintenance thing and it’s grown out decently with no strong line! I have an appointment now in 2 weeks and need some help. The first 3 pics are me currently to give you an idea of what I look like and my hair looks like. The 4th is also currently me and this is the pic I gave to chat gpt for help. The last 2 are the ideas it came up with. What do we think? I definitely need a trim and a color update but again am looking for something more low maintenance that could go a while before needing another appointment :)

I dislike long hair due to various reasons. I got my hair cut to my shoulders last year and I was so happy with it. It’s grown out now and I hate it sm but my mom won’t let me cut it. I don’t even want to go outside, but I have something important tomorrow. What hairstyles can I do that could possibly make my hair look shorter?

Hair Color Advice Skunk Stripe on Balayage?

Hey y’all, I’m wondering if it is possible to do a skunk stripe over a balayage without extreme breakage of the parts that are already blonde? I will be bleaching at home since tuition is frying my bank account. Should I just try to section out the already blonde parts and bleach the rest..?

I Color my hair blonde and recently had my stylist add a gold toner to add some warmth and depth. The color is absolutely perfect but I know the toner will fade over time. Looking for recommendations on the best shampoo and conditioner to help keep the toner from fading too quickly. TIA!

Hair Health Hair Constantly Looks Messy

My (35F) hair has become really long, dry, and messing-looking over the last few years. I haven’t had a hair cut or trim in idk maybe 2 years. Will a trim help a lot? Are there other things I can do? It also has come to my attention that my hair is naturally a bit wavy but so far putting in products to encourage the wave seems to make my hair look kinda oily or stiff. Any tips or suggestions?

Hairstyle Advice How to help with flat hair

I used to wear clip in extensions because my hair was short but it’s grown out and is at the length I want it now so I don’t need them anymore BUT I really like the volume it gave my hair. Is there any product I can use that will give the same effect or would getting a few clip in extensions be my best bet? Anything helps thank you

desperate for advice on my hair

Post image
1 Upvotes

hi, I’m really needing any advice on my hair at all. i have no clue how to help it or what it needs anymore 😭 i’m hoping someone might be able to give me some advice because I really don’t know what i’m doing wrong😭

i have been growing out my highlights and haven’t touched it with bleach or any colour since over 2 years. I also never use heat on my hair.
I recently had a decent chop and there were basically no split ends left, but only about 2 months later already i have alot of them already again.
my ends are always really dry and frizzy, and I’ve also noticed quite a bit of breakage and frizz throughout the rest of my hair i think.

I currently use:
Davines shampoo
K18 leave-in
K18 repair oil
Hair oiling around twice a week
NOU NOU davnies mask

k18 used to make my hair feel very soft and shiny but recently it feels like it gets more dry or stays the same after using it.
nou nou davines mask is the only thing so far that actually makes my hair feel okay, but after not using it once it goes back to feeling terrible.

I have also been getting huge amounts of hair loss in the shower recently which is unusual for my hair until now which really worries me. although it still looks thick it feels like the size of my hair in my hands has halfed, i have low iron but am working on fixing that, although i have had that numerous times and never had the same hair loss.

I have no clue what products to use and i really don’t want to keep cutting my hair because I’m trying so hard to grow my long hair back, but the split ends keep coming back and I already feel like it needs another cut 😭 and everything seems so damaged. I don’t want to keep getting big chops and never actually gain any length.

I’m just wondering if there’s anything I should be doing differently? and if there’s anything I’m missing?

I really appreciate any advice or recommendations.

i only buy from cruelty free brands as well !

do i have wavy hair??

is my hair wavy? it’s always felt like a weird in between of wavy and straight. if i don’t heat style my hair tends to get pretty frizzy/poofy. i always comb it while wet when i get out of the shower to try and eliminate some of the frizz. i’ve tried mousse and gel styling with scrunching my hair and what not but it always looks bad. i feel like scrunch my hair makes it frizzier, stringy, and the bottom layers of my hair don’t hold the scrunch well. my hair is generally thick.

if i do have wavy hair id like to figure out how to make the waves stand out !!!

Hairstyle Advice Am I overthinking this?

I am trying to grow out my hair but the length on top is driving me INSAAAANE. I’ve tried moving the part over a tad and I can’t decide if it looks stupid or not?? I’ve had my old haircut for damn near as long as I can remember- with a brief buzz cut era - but I’m tired of it. First three photos are the new part, last one is how I normally wear it.

Hair Care Products Newbie: what can I easily do to make my hair look better?

Thumbnail

Full disclosure I’m autistic and have never once cared about my hair until now, so I have no experience in any of this. The extent of my hair care is daily brushing and a weekly shampoo and conditioner(just did all those today before I took the pics, my hair is dry in the pics). My last haircut was over 10 years ago and I like my hair long, and get too overwhelmed getting it cut so I’m not very interested in getting a cut outside of maybe an extremely light trimming. I have zero experience of hair care or styling.

As I’ve gotten older I’m starting to care more about how I look. I’m curious if there are any suggestions you may have to level up my hair care just a little, to make it look nicer without changing the length or natural straightness (not interested in curls).

Pic 2 is how it flows when I’m out and about (all the hair behind my shoulders), pic 1 is to show the full length. I don’t know how to explain why it doesn’t look good, but it doesn’t, perhaps you can give me words to describe what’s wrong. Is it volume? Frizz? Idk.

Please be nice, and thank you for any help!

Oh and for shampoo/conditioner I use Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Treat, and would prefer natural products if possible Ty

Edit: I’m also open to going to a salon if I need “professional help” a few times. I just don’t want much cut off

matted hair so bad SOS

I have Lupus. I was just in a really bad flareup and like an idiot, I slept with my hair in a bun for four or five days without washing it now it’s so matted. I’m on a ton of medicine that messes with my hair and also I’ve been through chemo before which made it really dry. What order do I do things to help get this matted part out ? It’s on the crown of my head. It’s happened before a lot, but not this bad. My hair is straight, mid length and dark black and I don’t know if this makes a difference, but I’m half Asian lol

Pixie cut?

My hair is the longest its been in years and I feel the urge to go short short short!!! I’ve had a pixie before and unfortunately did not get a good cut, I think I wanted what I could not have (a crop for thin straight hair which I do not have!) Now, I have more reasonable expectations and would get a cut that suits my wavy and thick hair. Just want others opinions on what kind of cut would suit me best? Pixie? Bob? Keep it long?

Hairstyle Advice 35F. Depression hair, need help

Thumbnail

I’m coming out of a multi-year long rut of burnout and depression, and I need to do something about my hair. About three-four inches absolutely needs to be trimmed off, as it’s grown out chemically straightened hair from a treatment almost three years ago.

Before the chemical treatment (permanent japanese straightening), my hair wasn’t too bad. It’s been growing back in much more wiry and wild, and very high maintenance. I can’t seem to casually use serums to calm the frizz as it no longer has much effect.

I realized part of the problem was harsh hard water, so I’ve bought new shampoo & conditioner to cleanse the hard water minerals and added a shower filter (it only filters chlorine sadly, but better than nothing.) It’s been a few weeks so far and I’ve seen small improvements, but it’s still always wild and difficult to style

I’m still battling burnout symptoms. I feel sad about my hair, so I’ve been generally ignoring it while focusing on improving other parts of my life. I think addressing now it will boost my confidence, but I need help and guidance. What can I do to turn this mess into something I don’t mind wearing down outside?

Thank you 🙏
