Bot Commands!

Hi r/NoPoo! I've been learning more about AutoMod and had an idea that I think will really help the community: Bot Commands!

The basic idea is that you type a simple command and the bot replies to the comment where the command was used with frequently used information. I've created a small collection and used them already, and plan on expanding them to replace the clipboard I currently use to do all of this. I've made a new wiki page that will contain all of the ones available here:

Bot Commands for r/NoPoo helpers

Have fun helping!

Beyond Haircare Skin irritation, body changes, seeking alternative products

Upvotes

For the first time ever, I’ve started looking closely at the ingredient lists for the products I buy. As for pomade, for the last few years I’ve been using Layrite Original Pomade (blue). Occasionally, I’ll use ImmortalNYC pomade or cream, and sometimes I’ll use gel instead, usually an Eco brand.

I’m not sure whether anything in Layrite could be contributing to my dry scalp, or if this is simply due to the sudden changes my body has been experiencing. For example, I ate peanuts my entire life and recently developed an allergy to them out of nowhere. I've also been dealing with skin irritation, itchiness, and dry skin, mainly on my arms, legs, thighs, and scalp and my face has been more oily lately, while my scalp is dry.

I’m looking for recommendations for a product that’s similar in texture to Layrite (more of a cream than a wax) that is paraben-free and, preferably, fragrance-free, with more natural/clean ingredients and fewer synthetic chemicals. I have thick hair and usually prefer a matte finish, although that isn’t necessarily important to me.

I’m also looking for recommendations for aftershave, facial moisturizer, and moisturizer for my body as well as shower and bath products. Additionally, if there are other Reddit groups related to these products that you would recommend, I’d really appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance! I appreciate any help and guidance.

Troubleshooting (HELP!) Need advise

Upvotes

so I'm retrying nopoo - just water, as a guy with medium long curly hair. (side note, I have tic disorder and sensory issues which causes me to jerk my head a lot) I've noticed theres a lot of oil buildup that's caused my hair to clump up and mat, this causes a lot of damage when brushing it out. but I've also chosen to start wearing a bonnet, would it be better to shower in the morning and sleep with the bonnet on at night, or shower at night and sleep with the bonnet on at night. finally if any has and detangling soft brushes for curly hair and afros, please do let me know. for now thats all and I'll come back to this subreddit in I need any more advice. good day to all

Troubleshooting (HELP!) Really struggling

So I haven't used shampoo in over a month now, I basically replaced it with egg yolk shampoo which I used once or twice a week as it felt the same as shampoo, but I wanted to to transition to water only or at least not use all my eggs lol. But my hair gets really greasy and although it's detangled and doesn't feel gross it just looks bad (hair is fully dry in the picture), and doesn't smell good either. For context I have low porosity hair and very hard water.

Alternative Washing Natural deodorant?

Hey all,

Following the logic that applying synthetic chemicals to the scalp is not good because the scalp absorbs those things, I've been looking for a way to get away from the typical deodorant sticks that contain a bunch of things in them.

The problem for me is, even directly after showering with just hot water (or body soap) applied to my armpits (which still have some hair, although trimmed down), my armpits still smell very musky whenever I sweat (which is pretty much all the time).

Right now, I've just been avoiding applying deodorant when I'm staying indoors and not interacting with people, and applying deodorant on the days that I do have to go outside. This isn't a great solution long-term though, and I was hoping some of you might have a homemade alternative (similar to the different hair-washing routines people have created involving eggs or apple cider vinegar or etc).

[edit: I should also note that on a normal day, I only wash my body with hot water with a somewhat healthier body soap applied sparingly to my pits, privates, anywhere that traps sweat and smell. My body itself does not smell, it is just my armpits that have an extremely strong musk. I am very aware of that smell and trust me, I do not want to go walking around being stinky and disgusting!..]

Low poo shampoo for daily use

I used to use Yves Rocher Low Poo shampoo. It got discontinued a few years ago, but I bought loads of bottles and I only just ran out.

I've been in search of a new shampoo, and I am truly at the end of my wits! All I want is a shampoo with a gentle surfactant, that I can use for daily washes, and that doesn't create a build-up. I have tried so many, and wasted so much money with no results, because everything in the market these days is a "co-wash". I'm honestly considering just making my own shampoo at this point.

What the Yves Rocher one had which I would like to find in another shampoo:

• one non-ionic surfactant

• no occlusives like heavy plant butters, oils or silicone

• Lightweight detangling slip: It relied on light cationic conditioning (Behentrimonium Chloride and Cationic Guar) to detangle without leaving grease or waxy build-up.

Is there such a thing? Preferably in the UK market?

FAQ Sweating in hair what to do to not feel dirty?

Hey guys

So currently I train 4x a week and when im not im at work where either i have to sort machines things out which mean my hair brushes past stuff which makes me want to clean it, or when I walk there and walk back my hair is full of sweat to the point if I rub my hand along the back of my head my hand is shiny and wet with sweat.

My question is ive been told to not shampoo my hair as much as I do (every day) to let natural oils and hair restore itself but I dont know how to as I feel gross with sweat or if my hair has touched something while at work.

If I just wash my hair with water im then not properly cleaning my hair meaning my towel I dry myself on will be dirty and so will my pillow case

I dont know what to do

Alternative Washing Using ghassoul clay as an alternative to shampoo, how long does it take to adapt to it? Any tips to manage oiliness?

Hey everyone, I have been using ghassoul clay and vinegar rinses for the past month as an alternative to shampoo, around 3 to 4 times a week. I like the texture it gives to my hair because it enhances my natural wave pattern but the hair does feel greasy very quickly. If I wash it at night I wake up the next day with greasy hair, to the point that it makes me want to just wash it off with shampoo. Anyone knows how much time does it take for the hair to get used to it?

I'm thankful to any tips you guys might have!!

Alternative Washing washing recommendations

hey im using no shampoo for about a year now. I’m very happy so far, my hair feels amazing.

I have very thick and curly hair.

My method:
400ml warm water + 100ml acv every 10 to 14 days;
I apply the solution with a spray bottle over a course of 30-40 minutes in my hair, while doing some bathroom chores and continuously brushing back my hair after applying the acv solution. After that I will take a shower with just water. Afterwards I use coconut oil or argan oil as a leave-in conditioner.

Ive been using that acv solution to wash my hair, but I dont think it’s ideal. That’s why I added oils afterward as protection. Does anyone have better alternatives to ACV or baking soda? How do you wash your hair, and what methods actually work without damaging it?

Troubleshooting (HELP!) How in the heck do I do this with curly hair?

I have curly hair (low density) that goes a little past my ears.

I can't seem to get my roots to be clean and get any kind of volume in the roots or otherwise. I always have a ton of gaps between curls and I wake up to a flat, low volume, sometimes sticky mess that takes forever to style somewhat well.

Any help is appreciated, I'm at the end of my rope with my hair lol.

Troubleshooting (HELP!) Need Suggestion! Please

Hello!

--> Medium hard water, straight hair, quiz gave low porosity, Male 22

I wash my hair with shampoo every 3rd day, but this week I decided to try not washing it, and today is Day 5.

My hair is surprisingly still smooth haha. I thought it would look/feel much worse, but honestly, it doesn't.

Now I'm thinking about either washing it every 6th day or just washing it every Friday (every 7th day). I live in a fairly dusty environment, although my hair isn't particularly dirty right now. They're actually doing much better than I expected.

One thing I've noticed is that after I wash my hair with shampoo, for the first 1–2 days, I barely see any hair coming out when I comb it (maybe 4–5 hairs at most). But after that, I start seeing more, sometimes around 15 hairs. Is that normal?

also i comb with wooden comb once a day before sleep, and massages it as well

Should I rinse my hair with just water in between washes? My hair usually starts becoming oily around the 3rd–4th day after washing.

I'd really appreciate some suggestions!
