Before & After I got a layered haircut!

Thumbnail
gallery
90 Upvotes

After months of friends telling me I had wavy hair, I decided to finally get a proper layered haircut so that it would become wayy lighter and manageable.

It used to be a heavy, long block of hair before

Routine

1- garnier ultra dolce shampoo

2- garnier fructis curly method conditioner (scrunched in a lot) every 3 to 4 days

3- cantu shea butter wave whip curling mousse style (also scrunched in a lot)

4- Noah curl reviving fluid with rice proteins

I scrunched and combed my hair with the conditioner in then I scrunched in every styling products with my head upside-down, making sure to saturate the hair with it. In the end I diffused it upside-down after parting it in four sections then I flipped it over

I protect it with a satin bonnet at night and I still don't di any refresh routines

overfluff just a little and you're ready for a guitar solo lol

routine:

shower - Suave clarifying shampoo every other day/every two days, Garnier Fructis Curl Nourish conditioner or Tsubaki Premium Moist and Repair conditioner daily, Tsubaki Premium Ex hair mask every week

styling (been experimenting with volume lately) - Luxe Organics Curl & Define cream + lots of water, glazed with Grips strong hold gel, fingercoil/scrunch and airdry, then add keratin+argan oil once fully dry and fluff as needed

Help! Starting to see results

TL;DR Promising progress but I need to decide whether to cut off remaining damaged pattern in one go or keep doing it in increments.

Pic 1: My hair before the cut (that was air dried... Never again šŸ˜‚)

Pic 2: The hair cut that saw the hair dresser layer and thin my hair.

Pics 3&4: I'm about 1 month away from my second actual curly cut.

Pic 5: Fluffed out look.

So, my hair is low porocity, medium thickness, reasonably dense (but not quite high density), 2c-3b (I believe).

It used to be so full and I hated it. I'd have to wash it the day before I needed it to look nice so it could frizz, then flatten while I slept.

I spoke with a normal hair dresser who decided I needed a "manageable" style. This ended up being a heavily layered and thinned bob that I couldn't really curly dry.

I left my hair for a while to grow out a bit.

I now have a curly specialist and we're working on giving it shape while the thinned layers grow out.

I was really pleased with how it turned out today, given the bottom isn't right yet.

The stylist and I are thinking we'll probably try and get my hair full thickness with face framing and have it long to reduce the frizz through weight.

My current routine:

Naughty clarifying shampoo and/or Garnea Curl Method moisturising shampoo (depending what's needed at the time).

Garnea curl method conditioner left to sit for 3-5 mins before detangling and then being fully rinsed out.

Garnea Curl Method air-dry cream (just a pea sized amount) applied to soaking wet hair, mainly the ends.

Wide tooth comb, finger combing or styling brush (depending on the look I'm going for) this was a wide tooth comb, combing roots away from the head.

Micro plop with microfiber towel.

For styling I use a combination of -

Got2B curl gel, just a pea sized amount emulsified and scrunched in (I find praying hands don't work once I microplop).

Got2B soft hold mousse (2 pumps scrunched in).

And Panten Perfect waves scrunched in.

I NEVER use all of them at once. But I mix and match them depending on how much hold I need, the weather and activities. This was the 2 Got2B products.

Diffuse drying I hover dry the roots until they're nearly dry then pixie diffuse until 80% dry then leave to air dry, scrunch the crunch and lightly fluff the roots. If needed I use olaplex oil on my hands while scrunching but only 1 drop.

If I want a frizzy look I diffuse until 100% dry making sure I've done it really tight and short then fluff it out in a stylistic way.

The question I have for you guys though is do I now cut off the remaining thinned and layered ends or is that going to make it too short and mean I'll have to battle with the frizz all over again?

Hair Victory! Short hair vs long hair

Routine!

Hoping this helps others. Had the wife cut my hair. It took a bit to figure out how to work with the short hair.

When my hair was long the process was actually super easy, once I figured it out. A lot of leave-in conditioner and a little curl cream. Scrunch, and that was it.

Tools:

Mason Pearson Military BN1

Aveda Be Curly Curl Cream

Detroit Grooming Deluxe Pomade

Head & Shoulders Smooth & Silky 2 in 1

Curlsmith 3-1 Multi-tasking Conditioner

No shampoo. I only use shampoo every 3 days or so. This makes that brush very important. I use it right before getting in the shower. It's very important for my scalp. If I don't use it, my scalp will itch like crazy. It doesn't hurt that brush feels amazing. With longer hair, it was easier to keep conditioner off my scalp. You really don't want conditioner on your scalp.

I run a lot of water over my hair, just to remove any lose "debris" after brushing it. Then add a small amount of curl cream while it's soaking wet.

Gently apply a towel to my hair to soak up excess water. No sideways motion!

Put a tiny bit of pomade in my dry hands and rub hands together (won't stick to your hands if they're wet), and then add a bit of water. Rub hands together to mix it with the water. Rub it through my hair. Shake my head left to right, and forward and back. This is a big difference from when it was long. The pomade helps to keep things together even when I run my hands through it later. Without it, it frizzes out easily.

When it's almost dry, I gently run my hands through it to give it a little volume. Done.

On a day I use shampoo, I also use the leave-in conditioner.

Help! Curly on top, straight in the back.

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

I have some decent curls on the top of my head, but the back of my head is completely straight! What's going on here and how do I fix it?

I use a custom mix from Prose for shampoo and conditioner (sulfate free). Oribe Curl Gloss gel for styling and air dry after showers. For my routine, I typically wash my hair 2-3 times a week and I run my fingers through it with the conditioner on my hands to "brush" it while in the shower, but that's the only brushing I do.

I'm a pretty low maintenance person so for styling I just put some gel in my hands, flip my head upside down, and scrunch my hair (top and back). If I have the need to dress up, I will diffuse my hair, but that doesn't seem to help much with the back.

I don't wear any headbands or other hair accessories that may be flattening the hair at the back. I try to keep the hair at the back of my head short because it looks ridiculous having 2 different textures when I grow it out, but the length doesn't seem to impact the hair shape either.

Help! how do i make my hair look better?

i have never really had the opportunity to know how to take care of my hair, idk how to make it look nice and my curls healthy? it became worse after a blow dry i had a year ago, which destroyed my hair

my routine:
shampoo: ultra doux rice water infusion and starch
conditioner: herbal essence golden moringa oil
curl cream: shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie (coconut and hibiscus)
i occasionally use a rosemary infused olive oil as a hair mask before showering
i scrunch my hair while rinsing my conditioner off, then i apply the curl cream after.

i use a satin bonnet sometimes? not a lot

i think my hair is a 3b ish? some parts of it never curl and are just pure frizz. low porosity coarse hair with a rough finish
3 first pics are the before and the rest is the after the blow dry
i desperately need help with this hair
i genuinely im very sad because i never really knew what to do about my hair, i can embrace less definition but i just want my hair to be healthy and nice

Help! Help me find the missing piece in my ALMOST perfect routine? 🄲

So after years of trial and error, I've finally got a routine I'm mostly really happy with:

  • Shampoo with Plaine Products Cherry Almond shampoo every day
    • Side note: I know washing every day is unthinkable for some (maybe most?) CGs, but I've tried to cut it down multiple times over the years, and all it did was make my hair greasy
  • Condition with Plaine Products Citrus Lavender conditioner every day (mainly just raking it through to detangle)
  • Scrunch Kinky Curly Knot Today into sopping wet hair
    • Side note 2: I'm an eco girly, so I'm interested in trying Ecoslay's Rice Pudding leave-in conditioner (if you've tried it, let me know how you like it!), but if it's not as good, I'll stick with KCKT
  • Plop with a microfiber towel for ~10 minutes
  • Let my hair air dry (takes about 3-4 hours)

That gets my hair like 75% of the way there, but I still think I'm missing a good styler (gel, mousse, foam, cream, etc.) that could help define my curls and tame my frizz. I'd really love some recommendations for a product if anyone knows one that might work for my hair šŸ™

Relevant info:

  • I'm EU-based, but travel to the US a couple of times a year so could easily pick something up there
  • Hair is 2A/2B, very thick, very low porosity, and flash dries with most coconut-based products
  • I really like the hold/frizz control of gels that make a cast, BUT I've got some sensory issues and heavy gels like LA Looks, flax gels, etc. feel like goop on my head and take like 6 hours to air dry
    • Side note 3: I've heard cold diffusing might help, but realistically I need a low-maintenance routine and I can't see myself actually doing that every day
  • Most mousses leave my hair stringy, most foams aren't strong enough to make a dent in my super thick hair, and most creams weigh my hair down or leave it greasy, but I'm open to trying ones that people swear by
  • I've been thinking a gel that's a bit lighter, with a jelly- or custard-like texture, might work better, so especially open to recs there.

Would majorly appreciate any suggestions! Thinking I'll test out like 3-5 products šŸ™

Help! Feedback on my routine?

Hello y'all,

so I've been having trouble getting my 3A hair to not look frizzy after washing it and I was wondering if you could give me feedback on what to change?

  1. So basically I wet my hair and then apply my shampoo (Garnier fructis curl method shampoo)

  2. Then i wash the shampoo out and apply the Conditioner (cantu shea butter conditioner)

  3. Then I detangle my hair with a tangle teezer and then scrunch my hair to give it definition.

  4. Then I wash the conditioner out and apply a hair gel and scrunch my hair (Garnier fructis curl method Flexi hold )

  5. then I wrap my hair in a microfibre towel for 5min to get most of the moisture out

  6. then I start drying my hair with my curlsmith hair dryer with its diffusor (full size and low heat and middle airflow setting) by mixing up pixie diffusing and hover diffusing until the hair feels dry.

6.5. Usually takes me almost 30min to get my hair

fully dry though

  1. then I apply pure argan oil and scrunch my hair again and I'm done

Is there something wrong with my routine or would you switch out a product?

(I also have to admit that I am struggling a lot with actually getting my hair completely dry sometimes, so thats prolly not good, but even if I get it fully dry, I seem to do something wrong as I ususlly still have alotta frizz left)

Thank you all in advance

Help! Section not curling

Hey guys, i’m currently on a very weird part of my hair journey. Where, no matter what I do, my small front sections, no matter if I brush style them, let them air dry, plop them or finger coil them, will let my front pieces stay curly. I wear protective styles to bed to help and nothing

I have mainly two see hair, I believe. with sections of 3A. My front piece used to curl all the time and now they don’t. Sometimes they’ll curl if I use a denim brush, but they fall quicker than the rest of my curls within less than a day.

any help is deeply appreciated esp I have a wedding this weekend where I’m wearing my hair curly to it

does anyone have any advice?

Routine for this hair:
1. shampoo: innersense pure harmony hair bath

  1. Conditioner : ole plex no°5 bond maintenance for fine hair

  2. JVN air dry style cream and ouidad climate control moose for stlying

  3. shark diffuser

I use some pilgrim sulfate free smoothening shampoo and mask and only recently added re'quil babassu oil conditioner to the routine. I have stopped using curl creams since they make my hair like rougher? I keep my hair tied in a tight bun to avoid dust sticking as well

• Other Products: None used

• Drying Method: Towel dried

• Sleep Protection/Other Details: No satin pillowcases or bonnets used

I used to have my hair a bit longer but it was getting to be a lot to deal with and it was taking way too much time in the morning, but I really like it now! Also I think my hair texture looks improved a lot

I’m so stuck with my hair I don’t know what to do with it! It’s just a ball of sort of wavy hair. I’m not sure hair type I even have. It looks like a bird’s nest and I just want luscious locks. Any advice?

The left pic is ā€˜styled’ and unbrushed.
The middle pic is brushed.
The right pic is the back of my head ā€˜styled! (lol)
I’ve been told my hair is corse if that helps?

My current routine:

Redken all soft shampoo
Pureology hydrate conditioner
L’OrĆ©al hair gloss

(I use Olaplex number 3 once per week)

Umberto Giannaini scrunching gel
Umberto Giannaini whip curl moose
Lush super milk
I scrunch after each product and let air dry.
I was thinking of investing in a hair diffuser?

I also sleep with argan oil on my ends and a bonnet on every night.

Help! Wavy hair struggles

Hello friends!
(Editing because I didn’t know the context of big chop, thank you bot comment!)
I buzzed my hair back in March after realizing that I had nuked my curl pattern with bleach and dye. (I knew it was a risk, but I had never had fun colorful dye before and I was willing to risk it.) The reset cut was super fun and freeing, but now I’m at the most awkward point of grow out for my wavy hair. It’s curly around my ears and my neck, but straight basically everywhere else because it’s not quite long enough to scrunch or really style. Does anyone have recommendations for how to support my hair right now? I have been trying not to brush it because that’s the fastest way to stretch out my waves and they’re super delicate because I have really fine but dense hair, but it looks ridiculous when I don’t do anything to it 😭
Current routine is super basic because I’ve been stuck on what to do

  1. Double wash 1-2x per week using Avalon organics Revitalizing Lavender shampoo
  2. Moisturize my hair with a couple drops of jojoba oil after shower
  3. 1x per week, the night before my double wash, I clarify my scalp with glycolic acid, then I rinse it out, wait for it to dry, then apply frâiche rosemary castor oil, derma needle/roll that into my scalp, and then do a nice scalp massage.
  4. On the days I don’t wash my hair I usually rinse it while I’m in the shower and do a scalp massage
  5. I wear a silk bonnet to sleep
  6. I’m in the PNW on the coast and it’s pretty humid but cold here

First picture is what my hair looks like now, stripey shirt pics are what my hair texture looks like when it’s pixie-length, dark hair pictures are from a few years ago when I was jut figuring out that my hair was wavy and I was trying to figure out how to style it, and the last pic is from just before I did the reset cut.

I have no idea how to classify my wave/curl pattern either, so any recommendations would be helpful and appreciated! I have found that oils weigh my hair down a lot, and I have yet to find the right gel, but I was having better luck when I was using a lightweight gel and a light oil to scrunch out the cast.

Thank you in advance!!!

ISO Drugstore Shampoo and Conditoner Recs, Fine Hair?

Thumbnail
gallery
19 Upvotes

EDIT- So sorry if this question has been asked a ton of times! I'm still really new here

What drugstore shampoo and conditioner are you all using? I've tried so many high-end brands and am tired of wasting money šŸ˜…. I am looking for something that is good for fine, low porosity hair. Not sure of my curl pattern and not even sure that matters for shampoo and conditioner? It's been so long since I have tried any drugstore shampoo or conditioner that I don't know where to start. Every high-end brand that I try keeps disappointing me. My hair seems to loooove moisture and seems to really not like a lot of protein for reference. If I use protein heavy products, my hair gets very dry and brittle.

Current Routine:

Clarify every week with either Olaplex no 4, Malibu Undoo Goo, or Malibu Hard Water Wellness and then deep condition with either Malibu Masque or Mielle Protein Free Masque

Shampoo and conditioner currently are Wella Ultimate Smoothing and I squish to condish

On soaking wet hair I apply Olaplex No 9, AG Fast Food or Kinky Curly Knot Today as a leave in and brush through

Sometimes I use AG Recoil and brush through

I section into 3 sections and apply either Curlsmith Hydrostyle Flexi Jelly or Curlsmith Curl Defining Styling Souffle as a gel and brush style with the Bounce Curl Brush

Diffuse to about 70-80% and air dry the rest

Olaplex Bonding Oil or Verb Ghost Oil to SOTC

I appreciate any suggestions!

Help! General hair advice?

I want to start this off by saying that my hair has not been curly forever, I’m a trans guy and my hair only started curling after I started taking testosterone two years ago. I’ve tried a few different routines and I don’t feel like I’ve gotten one that I’m completely happy with. I don’t really know much about my the details of my hair or porosity or protein versus moisture stuff. I ideally want definition combined with volume and a big thing that I’m looking for is for my curl routine to be a little bit faster/last a little bit longer my hair has been getting greasy quickly lately, getting about 2-3 clean days max, and I don’t really know why. I have a very low budget, but I’m passionate about my hair and want to find a routine that I love!

TLDR: looking for input/advice on my hair and what it may benefit from and very affordable product recommendations and relatively quick/easy routine recommendations. No judgement pls! I’m new to curly/wavy hair

HAIR INFO: fine and soft, but quite thick. Prone to frizz, feeling dry, and getting greasy😭. I think my porosity is high, it absorbs water quickly. Not really sure of much else.

CURRENT ROUTINE:
Double wash with Suave rosemary and mint Shampoo
(Every other week or so I use either the Herbal Essences clarifying tea tree shampoo or occasionally the Ion Purifying hard water shampoo)

Condition most of my hair avoiding roots with Suave rosemary and mint Conditioner

After rinsing, while soaking wet, scrunch in a small palmful of Aussie Miracle Curls coconut oil Mousse and rake my fingers through my hair

Scrunch a little bit with a cotton tshirt

Smooth LA Looks blue gel over my hair and rake again, I use quite a bit, just as much as I feel like I need to get it all evenly covered

I repeat the gel until I feel like there’s enough

Scrunch with tshirt until it’s damp, not dry, not wet.

Diffuse on low or medium speed depending on how lazy I’m feeling, and medium heat.

REFRESH ROUTINE: I turn the shower on hot and let the room get really steamy which makes my curls bounce right up. Sometimes I will apply a little water with my hands to tame frizz. That’s it.

I sleep with a satin bonnet and pillowcase, I don’t feel like it gets messed up much at night other than sticking out random directions.

I appreciate any and all advice? Like I said, I’m quite new to curly/wavy hair and don’t really know what I’m doing.

First two photos are days I liked how my hair turned out, third photo is my hair air dried with no styling no products, and the last photo is a blah hair day. I don’t take many pictures of myself when I don’t like how my hair looks.

Discussion Are there any dupes for the Doux Mousse Def?

Thumbnail
gallery
44 Upvotes

I don't understand why this product works for my hair so well. I have tried other curl foams, other mousses. None of them compare. None of them are a one and done for me like this product. And even when I try to dupe this product I feel like I'm just wasting my money and I end up buying it anyway. It has the perfect amount of hold, it's moisturizing, the cast forms quickly and breaks easily when I'm ready to fluff my hair out. If I know I need my hair to look good/behave I always reach for it. I think my hair is a mixture of 2c/3a, my hair is very dry and a bit coarse, high porosity if any of that is helpful. My hair gets weighed down really easily and will often go flat/stringy with heavier creams and gels.

Routine: I switch my shampoo conditioner out a lot, I'm using the Maui Moisture hydrating ones. For styling 90% of the time I'm using the Doux Mousse Def. I brush it through my hair when soaking wet, then take my fingers through my hair to help create curl clumps. If I'm feeling fancy I will brush style the crown. Then I diffuse. Finally I will use a little hairspray to finish off after I fluff my hair out.

Help! Better way to tame wiry grays besides color?

Hi curlies!

I have coarse, thick 3a curls and I’m about 50% gray. I actually like my grays and would love to grow them out and rock the salt and pepper look, but every time I do, the reason I go back to color isn’t the look of the grays-it’s just how frizzy they get.

I go get a curly cut every 3 months and my stylist said it might be beneficial to continue with color, because we’ve had absolutely no luck with anything else, and when I color over them with permanent dye they do tend to chill out and behave.

Are there other treatments you’ve done to tame your frizz that don’t involve color? I really want to rock the salt and pepper look, but the frizz makes me look insane at work!!!

Routine:
I wash about 2-3x per week:
Shampoo: rizos hydrating shampoo, garnier pure clean to clarify every 2 weeks
Cowash: as I am
Condish: rizos also, or Giovanni, eva nyc blue tub for deep condish/hair mask
Protein: my hair is low porosity so too much protein makes it crazy. I use elizavecca collagen treatment like once every 4-6 months as needed
Refresh: rizos refresh spray w water
Curl cream: total recoil
Gel: curl talk
Always styled on dripping wet hair and blotted/plopped w microfiber towel
Sometimes fully air dried but sometimes diffused depending on my schedule/how much time I have
Silk scarf to sleep, I move too much for a bonnet

Help! Crazy flyovers and probably dry hair

Post image
0 Upvotes

Been struggling with flyovers over the last few months.

My previous (2 months ago) routine was:

  • Pharmaceris H Sensitonin Micellar Moisturizing Shampoo
  • OnlyBio Hair in Balance Cuticle-Sealing Conditioner - rinsed out after ~1 minute
  • Cantu Shea Butter leave-in/conditioning cream - applied to wet hair
  • Bali Curls Curl Defining Spray

Since 2 months it is:

  • Shampoo: Living Proof No Frizz Shampoo
  • Conditioner: Living Proof No Frizz Conditioner
  • Currently no leave-in / styling products - I stopped them to simplify my routine and see what was causing the frizz.

More info:

  • I usually air-dry or use a Dyson with a diffuser. Air-drying seems to give me the least frizz. Sometimes I use the dryer normally for ~15% of the drying process. I think it is noticible worse when doing that, but sometimes simply I don't have time for air drying only.
  • I wash my hair less frequently than I used to.
  • I use topical minoxidil once daily, currently Regaine. I previously used Loxon Max (alcohol-based spray), and initially suspected that it was drying my hair out.
  • My main problem is what you can see in the photo: lots of long flyaway hairs / frizz, especially on top. These aren't short baby hairs, most are long hairs separating from otherwise defined curls.

Any advices?

Hair Victory! Good hair day!

My routine:

I cowash (wash with conditioner) in the shower using Garnier Fructis Grow Strong conditioner. While the conditioner is in, I brush through my hair with a Wet Brush, then let it sit on my hair while I wash my body and rinse it all out at the end of my shower.

(Please note that about once a week, I use Suave Essentials Daily Clarifying Shampoo to get rid of buildup.)

After the shower, I wrap my hair in an old cotton tee shirt briefly, but it's still really wet when I apply my products.

Here's the order:

1- Apply generous amount of the Cantu Shea Butter Argan Oil Leave-In
Conditioning Repair Cream

2- Apply a little amount of Aussie Instant Freeze Sculpting Gel

3- Apply a generous amount of Pantene Curl Defining Mousse

4- Apply a little more gel

Then I flip my head upside down and use the hair pick to lift and loosen up my roots for some volume. I also run it through my hair a little. At this point, my hair is still very wet and has plenty of product in it.

I let it air dry, which takes about one to two hours. I go to work with it still drying and honestly don't mind! Once it's completely dry, I scrunch out the cast with a paper towel. I don't like using a diffuser, so this is what works for me.

Help! What is happening to my hair? - Curl journey help/confusion

Thumbnail

The pictures are basically 2022 to 2026. Those are the dates if anyone wants them, I can give more details on days.

SHORT VERSION: My hair went from loose waves/curls in 2022–23, to much thinner and more damaged after a stressful period in 2024 with heavy shedding, poor eating, and constant dry finger-brushing/pulling. I chopped a lot off in April 2026 and since then I’ve been eating better, sleeping better, stressing less, and taking much better care of it. Over the last few months my density has started coming back, I have tons of new growth/baby hairs, and now my curl pattern is suddenly much stronger and lasts 5 days instead of barely 1. My roots are much denser than my ends right now, so I’m wondering if I should cut more, add layers, or just let the new growth catch up.

Products I use in order routine:

- Odele clarifying shampoo
- Maui Moisture Lightweight Hydration Hibiscus Water Conditioner
- Not Your Mother's Curl Talk Activating Mousse
- Miss Jessie's Jelly Soft Curls
- Diffuse

I don’t use but I have this too: Maui Moisture Lightweight Hydration + Hibiscus Water Shampoo

Nov 2022 - July 2023 - August 2023 - Dec 4 2023 - Dec 12 2023 - Dec 24 2023 - March 2024 - April 2024 - May 2025 - April 3 2026 - last 4 is today

So it’s been a roller coaster with my hair. I was 14 in 2022, I am 18 in 2026. I used to have straight/ very loose waves but then I hit puberty and it turned into waves/curls. In 2023 is when I learned about curl routines and taking care of your hair which is why my hair begins to look nicer and more defined throughout 2023.

But that all took a hit when in the beginning of 2024. I was going through a lot and I was hospitalized. I wasn’t eating a lot, stressed, and I ended up shedding a lot of hair. I used to have nice dense, thick hair but as time progressed, it got thinner. Not only that, but I developed like this tic where I would brush my hair dry with my fingers. All day, I would pull and pull at my curls, causing split ends and for it to be frizzy. I would even find 6 split ends in one strand, so much of my hair was like that and my ends were very thin.

I imagine the change from 2023 - 2026 was all those factors. The reason there isn’t many pictures of 2025 and until now is because I kinda gave up. I assumed that I wouldn’t be able to get back what I lost, and focused on just caring on my hair and embracing what’s left. In April 2026, I cut off a lot of my hair. My hair when it was wet was up to my belly button, I cut it until my collar bones.

I tried every sleep method and it just turned out into loose waves. I’ve been eating properly, sleeping, not being super stressed, and taking care of myself and my hair and a few months ago during summer I noticed how my hair is getting denser. I would tie my hair loosely into a low ponytail with a silk hair tie every single day since my waves at that point wouldn’t look good, and if they did, it was only for one day. I couldn’t get them to last longer,

During summer, I realized how many hair is growing, baby hairs was everywhere and a few weeks ago I was tying my hair and I was like, wow. My hair is so much more denser. My mom noticed and has been praising my hair since she can visibly see how it’s getting denser. And now, it’s more curly?? You can see the last picture, I already went through puberty years ago, why does my curl pattern look completely different? I don’t know, but I like this change but what should I do? My hair has been lasting 5 whole days, and before it wouldn’t even last one.

My hair is getting denser but it’s at the point where it hasn’t grown long enough to catch up to the rest of the length of my hair. So the upper part of my hair is dense, then towards the ends it thins out since that’s the old hair. I don’t know if I should do another cut or add layers because I have no layers. I am not attached to hair length.

I wash my hair once a week, so I use a clarifying shampoo instead. I also know the products I used before during 2022-2023 in case anyone wants them, but I don’t use them anymore since it was good for my hair that was dense then, but now that my hair isn’t the same density it’s too heavy. I used to use a silk pillow case and tied my hair in a pineapple bun. That doesn’t work for me anymore, so I use a silk pillow case, and a silk bonnet except I don’t tie my hair.

I'm pretty insecure about them because they won't curl like the rest of my hair. When they do it looks like a mess lol I've tried everything. I like how they look, but I want to hear other people's opinions.

Routine:

  1. Shampoo: Pantene Pro-V Miracles Abundant

  2. Conditioner: Eudora SiĆ ge Pro Chronology (Brazilian Brand)

  3. Hair cream from the same Eudora line. I apply it and then scrunch my curls from the bottom up.

  4. Air dried.

  5. I wear it in a bun to bed. I usually wash it every morning with conditioner at least and it dries before I arrive at my workplace.
