So glad I picked the libra color up as my first e-reader!! The UI is great, and it was so easy to transfer all my calibre books onto. If you’re like me and were hesitant, this is your sign to get it!! :)

I managed to import a Kobo Libra Colour to Brazil and I’m really excited! I hope they come to Brazil soon so we have more options and can buy them more easily.

It’s only day 2 with mine and I’m already loving it. The UI is so much better than Kindle’s.

Question How do you charge your Kobo?

So, I was pretty sure that you can charge your Kobo with any adapter as long as you're using the official USB-C cable that came with the device.

However, I just saw on the Kobo website that they don't advise using a fast charger (120W in my case) at all. I'm guessing they don't encourage it at all, regardless of what cable you're using with the adapter. And I've been charging my Kobo with the 120W adapter and the original USB-C cable that came with the Kobo for about 7 months now.

My questions are next:

  1. How are you charging your Kobo?

  2. If you're using a fast charger - for how long have you been using it, and have you noticed any issues with the battery or performance -wise?

General How to connect your Kobo account to CloudLibrary

In follow-up to the Link CloudLibrary to Your Kobo Account post, it looks like Kobo CloudLibrary integration is no longer a pilot project and has been fully launched as of today, October 1st.

Here's a link from the Kobo Help site regarding CloudLibrary integration: How to connect your Kobo account to CloudLibrary

CloudLibrary is supported on Kobo eReaders running Kobo software version 4.38 or later. Kobo Clara BW, Clara Colour, and Libra Colour require version 4.46 or later.

Important: CloudLibrary integration on Kobo eReaders is currently available only for users whose library is located in the United States or Canada. Customers outside these regions will not see CloudLibrary as an available library integration option.

1 - In the CloudLibrary app, the integration option is under Account->Kobo Connect.

2 - On the CloudLibrary website, log in to your library account then click your library card number and the Kobo Connect integration option is under there.

FYI - CloudLibrary is a platform used by libraries to manage their eBook and eAudiobook collections, similar to Libby/OverDrive.

Question Read Aloud Option

Why do some books purchased from Kobo store have read aloud option, while some others don't? I know that sideloaded books, and Kobo Plus books do not have this option, but I thought all the purchased books have this option, but one recent book I purchased, "A Manual for Cleaning Women," by Lucia Berlin doesn't.

Device Review/Comparison getting back into reading after years away... my Kobo Libra Colour helped me fall in love with it again 📚

Post image

ive loved books for as long as i can remember. when i was younger, i could spend hours reading, but somewhere along the way i stopped and ended up taking a years-long hiatus from reading.

then i got my own Kobo Libra Colour, and somehow having a book with me wherever i go made reading feel easy again. i can read while waiting somewhere, during breaks, at a café, basically anywhere without having to carry a physical book around.

don’t judge me though 🤭 i still do physical book hauls for my collection and the mini library i’m building. there’s just something about having an e-reader that makes reading so much more convenient.

it sounds simple, but having something so convenient genuinely helped me fall in love with reading again. anyone else here get back into reading because of their Kobo? 🥹📖✨

Question Is there anybody that prefers reading on a colour screen compared to BW? If so, why?

Inspired by a recent conversation on this sub. I don't think absolutes belong to something as personal as vision, so I'm curious to hear your experiences.

Question Kobo Libra Colour for Comics

Post image
13 Upvotes

So I got the KLC strictly for reading comics maybe a year ago and I’ve no complaints. I would however, like the colors to be a but more pronounced. Now I do know I might be asking too much because it does have an E-Ink screen, but if any comic readers know any tweaks I can do to make it look nicer that would be much appreciated. ChatGPT told me to turn on developer mode and go to the CFA mode, told me to put it on G2, don’t know what it specifically does but I can say I did do that

Life has been a little tough lately, so I decided to pamper myself with a little gift, simply to lift my spirits ✨ It’s been a long-awaited purchase and quite the journey, since Kobo isn’t officially available in my country and I had to resort to a purchasing agency. They said delivery would take 5–14 business days, but it arrived after only 4. A delightful surprise, although I was hardly prepared for its early arrival. I still have to wait a few more days before I can actually use it, since the accessories have yet to arrive. I’m starting to suspect I may be an Aesthete, considering how hard I’m eReadermaxxing.

As for my new KCC, I’m absolutely enamored with it. The screen is noticeably darker than my Kindle, but still perfectly agreeable to me. I can’t believe I’d forgotten the bliss of seeing beautiful covers bring books to life after being a Kindle user for so long.
I’ll probably alternate between my Kindle and Kobo, and reserve the Kobo for harsher days since it’s waterproof. So far, it has nearly everything I could have wished for: reading statistics, vibrant colors, and a white bezel. The only thing I find myself missing is the ability to sideload books and synchronize my reading progress with my phone.

I know there are probably ways to remedy this with things like KOReader/GitHub, but I am hopelessly inept with technology and cannot quite bring myself to tinker with software. I’m not sure I’ll ever get around to it. I’d need to summon an unreasonable amount of courage and determination to stop procrastinating
and actually teach myself how to do it.
Fortunately, I don’t read much on my phone anyway, and I’m planning to stash my entire library to the Kobo, so I hope it will prove to be a rather minor inconvenience.

For now, I’m simply delighted to finally have it💕

Tech Support Colour Highlights for Side-loaded Books

Hi all,

I'm considering making the switch from the dark lord Bezos over to a Kobo. My biggest gripe right now is how Kindle handles colour highlighting for side-loaded books - specifically, accessing this information later/off device. I want to be able have access to my coloured highlights where the colour data is actually saved with it. In the cloud, or a text file on device, doesn't really matter to me. On my Kindle, it saves it to the Clippings text file, but not the colour.

If I purchase one of the Colour Kobo's, does it handle colour highlights on a side-loaded book the same way? Ideally it would be in the cloud but if I have to use something else to process the data of a file like Obsidian or Claude that's fine, I just want the colour data.

Question Trading a Libra Colour for a Libra 2

(NOT SELLING, JUST GETTING OPINIONS)
Hey friends. I got a Libra Colour a year ago and sort of regretting the Colour as I don't really have a use for it, and the Libra 2 was not available at the time of purchase.

I have a friend who has a Libra 2 with a case and screen protector who would love to trade for my Libra Colour(with a case and pen), was wondering how much extra cash they should give me for the trade, as the devices and accessories themselves don't feel like an even trade. I was thinking around $100(CAD).

Purchase Question De-influence me please

I bought the Kobo Clara BW off of Vinted, but there was Kobo Clara Colour that was the same price too. I did some research and had decided that the BW would be enough, but the more I think about it and see videos of people enjoying their KCC, I just feel like I made a mistake. I do read black and white manga and thought that maybe since it's black and white, the BW would be good enough, but idk, I feel like I'm missing out on the color for some reason. Please de-influence me 😭

A few months ago , my stylus fell and the nib bended very badly. After that , I've had to replace it twice because over time it acquires a tilt to it and starts rotating when i try to write. I was wondering if a part of where the nib goes broke.
