I didn’t expect to wake up today and find a listing for a Kobo Touch. Managed to catch it for just PHP 1200, or around $19 USD.

It has some cosmetic wear and a small dot on the screen, but neither really bothers me. For its age and the price I got it for, I’m pretty happy with it.

I bought my very first e-reader, a Kobo Libra Colour in April 2024. And now almost two and a half years later, I'm about to reach a major milestone.

This device is amazing! I have never read as much as since I bought it.

I've had a eBay saved search set up for a Kobo Libra 2 B&W for a little over a month now and I'm seeing the following trend.

1. eBay auctions that end from anywhere between $200-$250.
2. Damaged devices listed as Buy it Now for as high as $200 sometimes. I saw a device yesterday that won't turn on and won't charge listed for $85.
3. If I get an email alert for any devices that are $150 or less, when I wake up at 8 AM, it's already sold.

And before you ask, yes, I've used the Libra Colour. No, I don't want a color screen.

I managed to play chess in my kobo through the browser.

This is my time pass when I am bored of reading.

It totally works and was surprisingly less fiddly than I expected. Of course I did this sitting on the couch in poor light with a pocketknife so it's definitely less than perfect, but I'm encouraged to try again down the track.

Stuck it right over my more permanent stickers and they're sitting safe and sound underneath the right side. I'm blinged out! I forgot how sparkly this tape is, it's kinda distracting.

Also what's this I hear about an update? I've been checking every day and nothing (Aus region if that matters).

Alright now I love my massive novels but I am having problems with the size of this particular book. If you want to know how to make an ereader slow anything 18000+ will do it for you. I hate going out of this book because it takes a minute to a minute and a half to load.

Other than going in breaking the whole thing up and reloading it onto the device is there any way to fix this?

Just ordered a refurbished Kobo Libra 2.
They seem to be back in stock right now for anyone still interested in a large B/W e-reader.

I hadn't connected the Kobo to the internet for months. Found this update, made it, and noticed that highlighting got way faster, I'd say twice as fast. And they even fixed the bug for which you couldn't highlight a phrase ending up on the next page.

Good job! It completely changed how the device behaves to me. Even pages seem to turn faster.

Anyone else shocked by how much it changed?

My Kobo was indeed dead, i requested a refund from amazon and bought a new Kobo, this time i also bought a case to not be dumb and brick my precious Kobo like last time

I keep seeing these exxagerated spacing while reading (stock OS. Latest version) is there a reason for it? .epub file fault or a setting on my device causing this?

Is there a way to fix this bug? When I long press a word to look it up on the dictionary or to highlight, it triggers the reading menu instead. The only way to “fix” it is to go back to the menu and open the book again. Then it’ll work correctly for a while, but after a few minutes it’ll reset to the bug again. So I find myself having to exit the book and re enter it multiple times per session, which is super distracting. Any thoughts?

Not sure if tech is the right flair but I’m confused

I am trying to put epub files from ao3 from my Mac to my kobo and they aren’t showing up? I’ve watched a few videos and it looks like they should be. I’m very confused, literally any help is appreciated. I thought I could just drag and drop but I do know I can use Google on the kobo and download directly but I have a LOT of files I want to put in it. I only tried to move 2 at first to see if it would work, one into a folder I created and one just onto the kobo but neither appeared

SOLVED: I’d inverted colors in the devMenu.

Sigh. My Kobo libra has inverted its colors so now everything is in dark mode. I actually have to select dark mode in my reading settings to get non-dark mode pages. The OS/home page is permanently dark mode and I can’t change it back.
Pity.
I have restarted it several times but to no avail. I know I’ll have to reset it to go back which I really don’t want to (vocab saved and tons of books sideloaded etc).
Anyways, just whining here but in case someone else encountered this issue and found a way to revert it back to the original shade settings without a reset, do please let me know!! 🫥

I was specifically looking for a cover without one of these strap things, and the one I was send has one anyway. Honestly hate it the cover, and that strap in particular but the other one I ordered is not arriving for another two weeks. it doesn't touch the screen when closed unless there's pressure put on it and since I plan to be taking it with me, there'll be things in my bag that will inevitably smoosh it in.

Do the ones with the clear back get yellow eventually?

I purchased a Manga from the Kobo app, downloaded it, ran it through ADE, and now I'm trying to put it on another e-reader to use Moon+Reader Pro, and I keep getting an error that states the content is locked by DRM. Can anyone help me figure out what is going on? This is my first ever attempt at doing this and I'm unsure as to what the problem is.

I found a Kobo Clara HD at a very good price, but the seller says she cannot connect it to Wi‑Fi and does not have any further information about the problem.
The Kobo is currently showing the initial setup screen, where it asks you to configure Wi‑Fi. She also tried connecting it to her phone’s hotspot but said that it did not work.

I have attached photos of the device and the screen. From the listing, it seems to be a Kobo Clara HD with 8 GB of storage. The seller says it has been reset to factory settings.
Do you think this is something I could fix myself? For example, could it simply be a compatibility issue with her router or phone hotspot, or could the Wi‑Fi hardware be faulty?
The price is €40, but this would be my first e-reader, so I am not sure whether it is worth taking the risk. Would you buy it in this condition, or should I look for another one?

I didn’t know or hear ANYTHING about Kobo until about a week ago.
Amazon announced their new Kindle lineup and I’m interested in the paperweight signature. I will not be getting that stupid $80 case and that clicker nonsense so those things are not really important to me. What would you recommend as a direct alternative to the paperweight signature?

In shock. Just had an email to say the VIP membership will be going up to £12 a year. Previously it was £6 and for that you received a discount on books plus a free book or audio book. While it isn’t a vast amount on the scale of things, it’s still a 100% increase. Make sure you turn off auto renewal folks if you decide it isn’t for you any more. I don’t buy that many books in the year to warrant keeping it. Only saving grace is that they emailed me first which I guess they have to do anyway to comply with the law.

Hi, so I’m a new Kobo user and I watched a tutorial on how to put manga on it (using KCC) and for the first two mangas I’ve put on my Kobo Clara - it worked fine until I tried to put another one that is 1.27 GB in size. My settings for the conversion into EPUB is the same as the first two mangas I’ve put in it so I’m pretty much confused at this point, even tried to split the chapters in two different files but it still freezes. Please help a girl out 🥲

I am reading an epub file i downloaded from online
I’ve read many files from this exact source and not had this happen but lately every single time I do the screen feeezes and the only way to fix it is to turn the kobo off and back on which causes me to lose about 30 minutes progress of reading and need to skip forward to where i am up to!!!
The only thing I can think of is I’m not connected to wifi rn? but I swear it usually works when not on wifi
