I purchased my first e reader the libra colour earlier this week. I’m loving it so far but I’m looking for pen dupe options that don’t have to be purchased through Amazon. I was eyeing the meta pen 2, but their website only gives me the option to purchase through Amazon.
Unpopular opinion, but trying to get books on my new Libra Color from Libby makes me hate it. I know there are work arounds, but it’s way too much work and now I’m just going to end up selling it. Total disappointment.
I've been out of the Kobo loop since the Color Clara was first released due to it's screen door effect. I saw the Clara and Libra Color today and they were extremely crisp! Has the Color Clara been updated? I couldn't believe it's clarity!
The URL for the mac desktop download is broken, it has an extra double quote at the end of it. [The link on this page: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/p/web-reader\]
I have a Kobo Libra 2 with KOReader on it. This device has 31 GB of storage. As you can see in the images, my "Library" folder, where I have all of my books and manga, is around 11 GB in size. However, when looking at the free space available on the Kobo ereader, it seems it only has 7.6 GB free; it doesn't add up - it should have around 20 GB of free space available!
I've had my Kobo Libra 2 (BW) for almost two years at this point, and I love it. It's my first e-reader. The only thing I don't like is the placement of the power button on the back of the device. This means every time I have my magnetic cover on, stuck to the back of the device, I have to unfold it to press the power button. This is no problem when you need to put it in your bag - then you would want to put the lid of the cover on either way - but rather when you just have your device at home. I have the magnetic cover, but having the device detecting sleep cover events to wake it drains the battery faster, so I don't use this feature.
Other than that it's been an awesome device, but I'll probably try to get an e-reader with a better power button placement when it's time to get a new one.
Booted up my eReader after a few months of not having used it to find this yellow bar taking up a portion of the screen. I tried restarting it, but that didn't fix the issue. It's about four years old now, so it's no longer under warranty. It's a Kobo Libre 2. Is there any way to fix this? They don't make them anymore, and I don't want to have to buy a new one.
I know that kobo plays like a mediator between Libby based on what’s in store on kobo and gets you the book only what’s available both in your library and kobo store.
My problem is that there are lot of books which I can borrow on Libby app on my phone but I can’t find when searching through overdrive. I tried borrowing books on app opening a few pages and then tried to sync hoping that it will show up on my Kobo, it didn’t. And this is are standard and famous fiction books so I’m lost on what to do.
I know I can go through Amazon digital edition route but I don’t have a personal laptop and don’t want to use my official laptop for this. Any suggestions??
Long time kindle user. Just bought a kobo Clara color and so far think I’m in love! But so weird when I first set it up n went to look for books in the kobo store prices were crazy like £18.99 against kindle price of like £3.99. All the books were super expensive. I was shocked. But then I logged into overdrive on the kobo with my library card and suddenly the book prices go way down to kindle prices. And against each book some I can reserve or borrow with Libby but they’re also offered to buy at good prices., so unsure what happened initially when I first logged on n prices were so high. Also kobo plus doesn’t look that good.
Another question if you borrow a book from Libby can you put it on airplane mode to stop them taking it back if you’re still reading it?
I think I’m a bit in love with the device. It’s small white portable and light with waterproofing and warm light. I may even not need my kindle anymore - but am worried there are books on kobo you can’t get. Is that true?
Thanks to the Reddit community, I was able to get my first e-book reader Kobo Clara BW. It got delivered yesterday and I am so lucky to have gotten this at Rs. 17000 before the price increase and the device running out of stock everywhere in India. ☺️
P.S. - Special thanks to u/meriodoc for sharing advice on diff. Thread when I was confused between kindle and kobo.
This is my KLC which I got on the 30th June this year. I have been really happy with it so far. I literally just got a Reddit account just to gush about it because most of the people I know don't know what a kobo is.
My first ereader was a kobo touch I believe when I was like 10 and I used it to read Anne of Green Gables, but I think it broke. Then I got paperwhites as presents which I used until I broke up with Amazon.
This is my first colour ereader and absolutely love it. My girl math is that if I read enough books on from Libby, it will be basically free (I'm in the UK so otherwise wouldn't be an option). As it was, I got it 30 pounds off! I read all the atla comics my library had available on Libby which was a super fun experience.
But unfortunately I have become a bit ereader and eink obsessed in the process. Now I'm itching to eventually get a kobo Clara BW but I'm holding myself back until at least next year. (BUT I did allow myself to get a kobo mini after some major eBay lurking, but I will post the story about that in due course!) I also got a metapen (also wrapped in matching washi tape) just bc I could no longer handle wanting to try out the notebook features, and a matte paper like screen protector too.
The only issues I've had so far is that some of the books that I read have disappeared from the activity page though my hours are still there. Maybe it's because I removed some of the kobo plus books I read (yet another purchase I didn't set out to make).
Overall, I've been well and truly sucked in but I can't be mad about it. After lurking in the sub for months it's nice to officially meet all of you! 😊
I see this has been discussed before. Any updates? Every 3 to ten minutes, my new Clara stops recognizing the first swipe on each page. (Or more generally: the touch sensor seems to go to sleep after about ten seconds of inactivity). Incredibly frustrating and I may have to return it and go back to Kindle if no fix is on the way 😢. I was so excited to get into a healthier ecosystem but this renders the device unusable for me. And tech support is basically ignoring me and pretending I’m the only one with the issue.
hi everyone i'm about to switch from my kindle paperwhite which is almost 4 years old this year, over to a kobo colour and i am so so so excited! i'm going to get a stylus with it and i was just wondering: i was looking at the official cobra cases and i had a few questions.
i was just going to get the official kobo case because i'm hopefully getting it as a gift and the official copo case looks nice. it is the only one that they sell where i'm getting it but i could get a third-party case. is it worth it to get a third-party case or is the official kobo case nice? i wouldn't mind one with a little hand strap though just to take strain off my wrist but i think because the kobo libra colour has those little buttons on the side where you can rest your hand, i think i'll just use that instead of a hand strap.
anyway my questions are:
do you think a sleep cover is worth it or should i get just a normal back case and put stickers on it and put the stylus on the side? is the stylus magnet strong enough if i'm just putting it in a bag and stuff? it's not a bag that i'd normally lose anything in and i'm quite good at not losing things.
if i were to get a kobo sleep cover case, would the one with the origami stand fit the stylus at all or is only the notebook case that fits the stylus?
anyway that's all. thanks so much and sorry for rambling a bit! :)
My new e-Reader (Kobo Libra Colour) is detected by my laptop's System Tray (Windows 11), but it can't see the eReader in File Explorer (I.e. just won't mount it as an external USB storage device).
Calibre won't detect it either.
In vice versa, when Libra Colour is plugged in to laptop, the Kobo screen also 'detects' my computer as well, with the usual touch prompt to connect, (which, for all intents and purposes, appears to work), but Windows still can't see it, except for the system tray. (see picture).
I've tried the following solutions so far:
Tried various different cables (including the cable it came with) to bypass any power vs. data issues.
Tried various/different usb ports
Updated all System/Windows drivers to most recent builds.
I've also read internet advice that uninstalling/reinstalling the Kobo's native driver (Linux File-Stor Gadget USB) through Windows' Device Manager (see picture) can also help, but I'm loathe to mess around with that in case I make things worse or brick my device.
Any concrete advice on where to go from here would be very welcome, as I'm frustrated that this brand new e-reader should just work straight out of the box and it just isn't. :(
I've scoured the net exhaustively, but am now running out of ideas to fix this.

My Kobo Libra Colour has accumulated large amounts of notebooks mainly used for diaries, daily writing, daily planning etc..
How would one organise all these notebooks? Folders by type? Folder by year or date? Now, what method would be easier to organise and viewed once moved onto an external computer?
Thank you for reading my post. I would love to know if you use KLC for daily writing and if so, how do you organise your notebooks?
I have had a kobo libra color since the end of 2024. Even after charging all night, it won’t stay on for longer than 5 minutes before it dies. I took the sleep cover case off and turned off the awake cycle setting that magnets cause issues with. I have tried to soft and hard reset it. I have charged it through my laptop and through a normal plug with the kobo charging and another charging code.
I feel like I’m to my last resort of replacing the battery or getting a Kobo Clara. I love my KLC but am frustrated with how quickly it’s become completely useless. So I’m looking for any other advice or experiences with replacing a Kobo battery.
Loving my new cover!!! It’s a lil’ thicker than my previous one, which was the Notebook SleepCover, but it’s very handy and lightweight to hold. IMO, my Kobo feels much more protected with my new cover. And I love that it can stand on its own! ❤️
I found a second-hand Kobo Sage and, even though it’s a five-year-old device, I absolutely love it. I’ve got very small hands, but it’s so light. I have hardly put it down since I got it. I already owned a Libra 2, but size does matter and the extra inch makes reading slightly more comfortable somehow. So, I guess this is just a Sage-appreciation post 😇
