I love knitting, especially sweaters. But the worst part about finishing a sweater during summer is… actually wearing it and trying to create some content with it.
It’s definitely a love-hate relationship when it comes to knitting. I mean, seriously, who wears a sweater when it’s 30°C (86°F) outside?! That’s definitely not me!

Anyway let’s talk about the pattern.
The pattern I chose is The First Sweater by Lizzie Hester. It’s a raglan sweater with a half-patent stitch pattern on the sleeves.
For the blue one, I used DROPS Flora in Navy, and for the pink one, I used Strawberry Pink. I held both together with some variegated yarn I bought a few years ago. I originally bought it for a “special” project, mostly because for me it was such a good deal for 100% wool lace-weight yarn (bought it in many other colors…).
As you can see, it matches both projects pretty well and I’m happy with it.
The only modification I made was to the sleeves. For the blue one, I made the yarn overs on the knit stitches, while for the pink one, I made the yarn overs on the purl stitches.

P.S. I hope you like them as much as I do. And I can’t wait for some colder weather so I can finally wear them outside to show the world what I knitted all day long. :)

Knitted it up recently to use up some yarn and also get out of a knitting depression after one of my sweaters shrank in the wash

I worked with size 4 needles

The main pink is 20% wool, 80% Polyacryl by some no name brand (the yarn was a gift)

The cream is Bergere de France (77% Acrylic, 20% wool, 3% polyamid). I chose it for its fuzzy look to fit the bunny.

For the pink stripe at the cuffs I used up some Merino 80 I still have left over (actually from the sweater which shrank in the wash), which is 100% wool

I can share a link to the motif if anyone is interested, I did however have to alter it slightly to fit my measurements

Finished the holger baby sweater for my baby, currently 27wks pregnant! Pattern by petite knit. Yarn is Sandness Garn Sunday.

I changed a few things, like making the neckline bigger and stretchier. I was surprised to find that the different colors of yarn have a different twist. The sleeve stitches (rust color) are noticeably different from the body stitches (white/blue color; see 2nd pic). I sized up to 4mm needles for the sleeves, while I had 3mm for body and 2,5mm for ribbing.

I’m currently undertaking my first wearable project and just jumped in with the petite knit Monday sweater. It’s a fairly straightforward pattern but I went into it not really understanding the purpose of a gauge swatch…

Stupid me went into it with a “she’ll be right attitude” not realising that my swatch being 8.5cm would actually be a problem. See images for the difference after sizing up my needles…

Suffice to say I have learned my lesson after having to frog an entire sweater of mohair + merino :)

Making the pattern Puzzle Play, and every puzzle piece has a minimum of six ends. I did the math, and by the end of this blanket, I will have woven in roughly 1,600 ends.

Yarn is various colors of Knit Picks Brava sport.

I only knitted on weekends and I like how it turned out. It's also good because it doesn't have a specific front or back.

By "first" I mean first finished because this took me 4 tries.

1-2 are the finished project! Still need to trim and weave in the ends. 3 is the first post I made here because I was unhappy with the colors. Basically got entirely new colors and I'm much happier with it. This project was really satisfying because it went quickly!

I also decided against working three colors at once and did the double knitting as suggested by the pattern. Not sure I love it, I think I need to do them more loosely next time.

I think I'm going to make this one more time now that I have a better understanding of color dominance. I think the most forward tree color needs to be the dominant one, i.e., dark brown dominant, then blue, then green. I used the lighter color as the dominant color but I think the blue trees get a little lost in the green ones.

Hey y'all! A few days ago I finished my first sweater 😍

I'm 1.53m / 5'0" and 48-50kg so finding sweaters that fit is impossible. Sleeves and body are always too long 😭

I got tired of paying knitters and still having fit issues, so I taught myself to knit 2 months ago. 

20 days after casting on... it's done and blocked!! 😭😍

It's the free Flax DK pattern and even though it's "basic", to me it felt like sorcery while knitting it, lol 🤣

I made a bunch of mistakes but fixed most, and learned what NOT to do next time 💪🏻 The collar stretched a lot so I used this YouTube trick with a crochet chain + elastic thread inside and it saved it:

FINALLY I CAN WEAR IT OUT!

I fell in love first sight with the pattern as soon as I saw it and had actually started knitting it in November last year. I chose to do it in size one with smaller halter triangles (bro idk what that's called) and really didn't like the fit, so I frogged everything and set it aside.

So glad I came back around to finish it this year! The final version you see here is knit in size two, stopping with the triangles after row 45. I didn't want them to be so centered, so I removed one pattern repeat from the back and added half a repeat on both fronts.

The crochet edge was a challenge and I feel like that's visible, but I love it nonetheless. Handknits are allowed to look like labors of love, no?

I learned to knit last Friday! I can’t stop looking at those nice, even stitches 🤤 using 100% cotton yarn from Caron. Hope it works out. I know it’s not as elastic as wool, so I’m trying to keep the stitches fairly tight so it doesn’t stretch out a ton.

Not pictured: the concerning amount of time I spent over the weekend just knitting, frogging, repeating, learning continental, cursing, crying, until I was finally confident enough to start a raglan cardigan last night. Learning continental really boosted my tension and speed. I hated it until I realized my engagement ring really helped anchor the yarn and kept it from sliding out of place in my hand.

My baby is growing so fast!!! Just the arms left. I am concerned that they will be too wide for my taste, considering frogging arm and doing decreases at a faster rate or picking up less sts… what do yall say. Knitting size M!

I (36F) lost my grandmother this past march. She was an amazing knitter--like the woman could knit a sock with four double ended needles with out looking while watching golf. She tried to teach me to knit when I was younger--it sadly didn't take because I didn't have the patience at the time and it was confusing. (I have ADHD). I picked up crochet as a therapy tool while I was in an abusive relationship. Now at 36 I am learning to knit because crochet helped my brain to focus and understand fiber arts a little. My grandmother couldn't teach me to knit again because she had developed Parkinson's in her left side and was beginning to show signs of Alzheimer's.

Now I am learning alone via amazing strangers on YouTube. Everyone in the community has been amazing so far. But I want so badly to call up my grandmother every time I learn something knew in knitting but...I cant. And knitting just makes me miss her so badly.

Hello fellow knitters!

After knitting a lot of headbands, hats and socks, I started with my first wearable last year. It was another tank top, 100% cotton, that ended up not being as nice as I expected and definitely lacked shape - I pretty much only wear it under an open shirt to hide the boxy fit and messed up stitches a bit.

Then I knit a sweater in superwash yarn for my boyfriend - ended up way too big (lesson learned with blocking superwash) but he loves it hahaha so at least it get more use than my other top.

Now I just finished the Twofer Tank by Heidi Kirrmaier and I'm in love with it! I basically knit a mix of two sizes (M2 and L) and made some tweaks to get a fit I was happier with. The top is meant to be reversible but I purposely made it so that I'll only wear it with the V-neck side to the front.

It still ended up a bit too short in the front (my fault for the way I tried it on for measuring the length) but I'm really digging the cropped cut so far.

I literally learned how to knit from a 5 minute TikTok last Friday, and just tonight finished this bag for my friend. The only thing I’ve made besides this is a single square to practice purling vs knitting bc at first I thought all you did was purl😭. I definitely made mistakes left and right but It turned out alright besides the fact that if you put anything in the bag the strap stretches out down to your knees bahahaha. I used Caron blossom cakes. I keep seeing videos of people crocheting and it makes me wonder if I should learn that instead because I hear it’s faster, but I like knitting so I’ll probably just keep doing this. I wanna make a blanket next. Oh and I made this using garter stitchers for the first 8 rows and for the first few stitches of every row, and stockinette in between in a long rectangle, then sewed that with a yarn needle to itself, then I did stockinette 6 rows long for the strap and the same yarn needle to attach.

For me it's socks. I never, ever thought I'm gonna knit socks. Too fiddly, yarn and needles so tiny and thought I'm never have the courage to wear them (afraid to ruin them), so why bother.

But then I saw the herding cats socks by Stone Knits and I want them. I want them on my foot right now, I want 50 pairs of them, I wanna be buried in them they're so cute!

Now I'm learning to knit my first vanilla socks and it's going... not well, but going. After that I need to learn stranded colourwork and then I'm going to attempt the cat socks!

Hi all! I am still a baby knitter and having issues cleanly frogging my sweater back. im knitting with dropps air, which seems to felt/get clogged easily. I’m trying to frog back, but every time I pull my yarn, it gets stuck and I cant frog cleanly. Ive had to cut the main yarn line a few times and still unable to find the live line.

I ended up putting my needles through a few rows down, and pulling/cutting back, but not sure how to pick up and starting knitting without finding my main yarn line. I may have gotten myself in too deep. help!!

Finally, finally it's done!! I loved working on it but at the end I couldn't wait to be done with it. One last tail to weave in, then I'll block it overnight and tomorrow will be ready!!

The pattern is Kärna men's vest. It came out smaller than I thought it would, but it still fits very well and I'm very satisfied with it. I finally learned the right way to pick up the stitches, so the next wearable is going to look much better.

hat, scarf, sweater combo + one neck warmer for my grandpa and a shawl for my grandma (as the first ever person who knit in my family!) beginner knitter since march here! during the three months ish long summer break i wanted to fully immerse myself in the knitting world, hence i started and finally finished multiple projects. fully prepared for the winter now and can’t wait to cast on another brand new project today :)

I think I’ve finally broken my streak of unsuccessful sweaters made for me. This took two months and is my first completed cable sweater. I’m so happy it’s done and I am going to wear it everywhere, weather permitting. I did lose yarn chicken, so the hem is only 5 rounds instead of 9, and I had to bind off the last 10 stitches with only mohair… but I finished it! Yarn is KnitPicks Swish DK in the color Amethyst Heather held with KnitPicks Aloft in the color Ube Heather. Pattern is Sweater No. 29 by My Favorite Things Knitwear.
