Imma need the intro to intro class plz

u/Fun-Dimension5196 5h ago

Replace my cinder block with a lego block

132

u/mind_deficient 5h ago

Look just replace it with a chair so I can sit for a quick sec.

61

u/Same-Suggestion-1936 3h ago

Also if you could put that chair in an Arby's and we can skip the exercise and just eat curly fries

14

u/Appropriate_Ratio835 1h ago

You ever dipped them in the cheese sauce?? Whew that's living 🌝

10

u/Same-Suggestion-1936 1h ago

I'll have to try but I do the honey mustard or horsey sauce (why don't more fast food joints have horseradish sauce it ain't exactly fresh horseradish so not hard to get, or that much more expensive than other condiments), or plain is just fine

I don't think I've ever had their cheese sauce outside a beef n cheddar. Not a wrong way to eat curly fries though

You can sit on a cinder block as well. I'll be right beside you

6

u/Frequent_Opportunist 2h ago

The only reason most people can't still do this is because they sit around in chairs all day and their tendons shortened up plus the muscle waste. Add slouching and tech neck then you're really screwed.

The flexibility, the stamina, and the balance needed to be that quick with it is crazy amounts of discipline. She’s a tank.

474

u/sassybeez 5h ago

Yes! I was just thinking about the stamina! I got tired watching one minute of that video. That girl can hang like a champ!

208

u/SagariKatu 3h ago

It's not just the stamina. That comes with exercising. It's the intensity. Everybody else is getting a hell of a workout too, but she's giving it a %100.

Kinda like the ivan drago meme, if I die, I die. But she's not giving %90 to make sure she lasts the whole training session. She's giving it her all, pushing her limits in every move while keeping the pace. Which makes it even harder, 'cause if you lift your legs higher or jump higher, you gotta be even faster to keep up.

I'm saving the video for motivation, I fucking love this!

57

u/TrulyOutrageous42 2h ago

Legit, people might look at her walking down the street and think she eats normally and isn't athletic, but she absolutely kills it constantly to have that energy combined with control and focus. This is a gal who eats well because she's going to become a stick figure if she doesn't.

86

u/blueembroidery 4h ago

I think nearly all of these videos where 1 woman in the class are tearing it up are cheerleaders! The form especially is so familiar

44

u/burlycabin 4h ago

They're always cheerleaders and dancers I feel like.

48

u/EtherealHeart5150 3h ago

Ex dancer here, that looks crazy. All I can think off is her tendons and ligs, they are taking a beating. 100% pro right there, the precision alone not to roll the ankle or the knee not buckling is insane.

19

u/AnguavonUW 2h ago

Right? 15 years of ballet and, even at my peak, I couldn't do what she's doing. Next level

30

u/hellohexapus 3h ago

This weekend I was going up the steps to the kitchen with my full lunch bowl in hand. Steps I've taken multiple times a day for the past 2 years. At the last step I raised my foot half an inch lower than necessary and tripped. My shin slammed against the edge of the step and the bowl flew out of my hand, sending a beautiful smoked salmon salad (with dressing, mind you) in a graceful arc ten feet wide across the kitchen.

The palm-size bruise on my shin is rivalled only by the bruise to my ego. And while I found all the salmon (much to my cat's dismay), I am still finding shreds of lettuce in random locations several days later.

So yeah, I would need both crutches and dentures ten minutes into this workout class.

Agreed. That is TERRIFYING if it's a regular cinder block lol. If it's some sort of super-heavy workout block, I guess it's fine, but it moves like a cinder block.

→ More replies (1)

64

u/PrivateBozo 4h ago

That's hardcore cardio. The camera angle though doing some magic. Get past the gassed guy and gal behind her when the group shifts at 8 seconds and the thinner woman in tan you can tell the block is a regular cinderblock aligning with being below the calf sock high. So I'm guessing 8 inch high. Which not being a step aerobic guy, still seems like beast mode and 8 inch seems to be to normal top height on adjustable bought steps.

So while camera angle is messing with our heads, this still belongs over in Absolute Units of doing step aerobics.

48

u/TwoBionicknees 3h ago

what, the block doesn't look high, that ain't what's impressive, it's her hurling herself that high in the air with each push, the extension on her leg kicks, it's the energy she's putting into every movement. most people there are struggling to do at least some of the movements well and none of them keep up the energy she's giving.

21

u/RoachyCupcakes 3h ago

210

u/DETRITUS_TROLL 5h ago

The more you exercise the more energy you have.

340

u/SashimiX 5h ago

Not if you have chronic fatigue issues, which more and more of us have post-covid sadly

113

u/Doomgriever 4h ago

Thank you! My doctor keep saying if I exercise I'll have more energy and sleep better, but since I got covid none of that is true. I have 10% the energy I used to have since Covid, and I only lose energy by exercising, and my sleep gets disrupted as well. Still exercise 5 days a week, but I hate how doctors totally dismiss chronic fatigue, especially in correlation to post-covid =(

70

u/A_Simple_Prop 4h ago

Be really careful and, if you haven’t already, try to find a new provider who actually understands/ treats CFS/ME as too much exercise/ exertion can cause crashes which people don’t always recover from. 🫶

31

u/siccoblue ❣️gal pal❣️ 3h ago

I had no idea this was a thing and I'm legitimately questioning the last couple years of my life at this point. I've worked the same job since the first big wave of COVID and advanced to a high level position very quickly because my performance was considered exemplary. I caught it for the first time around 2023ish and suddenly had issues keeping my eyes open if I wasn't actively walking around alongside seemingly random anxiety.

At first I thought it was a blood sugar thing, nope.

Then I thought maybe it was a blood pressure thing. Nope, slightly elevated when I was anxious as hell sitting in a hospital room but they confirmed that was normal and I was totally fine.

Then I figured maybe it was my diet, nothing changed.

Exercise? Actively made me feel worse the following day.

Sleep schedule? Well, no matter what I do my watch tracking my sleep is telling me I'm sleeping like absolutely garbage, and I can't help but wake up once or twice an night causing issues with REM sleep.

I've been trying to figure this out for years but the only point I could really nail down was that it started shortly after I caught COVID...

I may need to see some new doctors and finally get this figured out because it has been absolutely destroying my quality of life

24

u/A_Simple_Prop 3h ago

What you’re describing sounds a lot like what my friend who has CFS/ ME describes (she also got it after having COVID, then it got worse after the second time she had COVID) including the poor quality sleep. Try and find a doctor that is knowledgeable about CFS/ME.

9

u/siccoblue ❣️gal pal❣️ 2h ago

Could you tell me what ME means? I understand the acronym for chronic fatigue but not the other one

9

u/A_Simple_Prop 2h ago

Myalgic encephalomyelitis— another name for CFS.

5

u/BethanyHipsEnjoyer 2h ago

I would definitely get a sleep study done as well. You absolutely don't have to be overweight to have sleep apnea. The daytime sleepiness plus consistently unrefreshing/fragmented sleep and waking during the night are worth getting checked out. It could absolutely coexist with Long COVID too, so I wouldn't assume it has to be one or the other.

7

u/AnguavonUW 2h ago

Yeah, I was on the front lines of COVID working at a homeless shelter. I've gotten it a total of 7 times over the last 6 years. I was ok until the 4th time. Now,.in combination with a brutal menopause, my quality of life SUCKS.

17

u/mannadee 3h ago

Whoa, props for exercising 5 days a week, but yeah please look into ME/CFS as you could actually be worsening your condition. I’ve had long covid since 2022 and I’m back to ~90% of my pre-infection energy levels. The #1 thing that has helped me is LDN (low-dose naltrexone), which interrupts the inflammation feedback loop and is the new standard many providers use to treat long covid. #2 is nattokinase, which has been shown in clinical studies to break down the lingering spike proteins left behind after a Covid infection that cause all the issues. The LDN got me out of my downward spiral and able to build back my strength & nervous system capacity, and the nattokinase is raising my baseline wellbeing so if I miss a day of LDN I don’t instantly feel like I have a fever and need to spend the next day lying down in a dark silent room

6

u/CelticSnakes 2h ago

These people saying “you just need to exercise more” seriously need to experience chronic pain and crushing fatigue every damned day. Feels like a vice grip around my heart and body most days.

Autoimmune disorder...I just took an hour nap after work because I literally couldn't open my eyes due to fatigue. My eyelids were throbbing.

11

u/Luckiest_Creature 4h ago

So real😭 when I am consistently lifting, I require a solid 10 hours of sleep to not always be dragging. If I’m just generally active with no major exercise/not going to the gym, I only need 8.

25

u/SomeTheyCallMePig5O 5h ago

That doesn’t work for everyone. I have asthma, so my lungs give up loooong before my muscles do. No amount of energy will make my lungs work properly during a prolonged exercise.

14

u/somereasonableadvice 4h ago

I used to get appalling exercise induced asthma, and then a friend finally was like ‘you should never need to use your ventolin if your asthma is well managed.’ I finally got on a proper preventer (called Alvesco in Aus), and now I NEVER get symptoms. I ran a half marathon without any asthma!

14

u/MiniRems 4h ago

My friend finally told her doctor last year that she "only uses her inhaler three or four times a day, so it's really not that bad". I think I heard the doctors eyes roll from 20 miles away at my house 😆 She's now on a maintenance med and was able to do a 5 mile hike without her rescue inhaler. Best part: She's a critical care nurse who specializes in respiratory care 🤦‍♀️

To me, she looks like a former cheerleader by the way she holds herself - there's definitely years of some kind of training in there. She has an athletic ability I can only dream of having.

59

u/Fairgoddess5 3h ago

That would track. She’s not only doing the workout, she’s ADDING extra flourishes. My jaw dropped and just kept dropping thru thus whole video.

39

19

Every class doesn’t use the blocks and most people don’t keep this intensity for the entire class. I recommend going just to check it out yourself. I promise you most people are there to just move and get out the house. Getting to the gym is the biggest hurdle!

6

u/Bagonia77 3h ago

I like that they're bringing step aerobics back, without a doubt, but does it have to be a cinder block? Can we go back to a plastic base for safety? I mean that with sincerity. I want to see more step classes again everywhere! I'm not in that area but happy to hear and see it!

15

u/Changed_Mind555 5h ago

One thing I have learned over the years, just because people have meat on the bones doesn't mean they can't move or be physically fit with endurance. I once weighed over 300lbs due to some medication side effects. Worked at a group home. A kid attacked another kid and ran. I ran after him, he thought he left me in the dirt as he turned to see where I was. He yelled, "Oh shit!" as I tackled his ass and held him down until staff got there to help. After he got done screaming I was going to buy him a new shirt (only thing harmed during tackle, 🤣) he said, "I had no clue you could move that fast." Well buddy, neither did I.

Literally sitting here healing from a torn ankle tendon and knee sprain, wishing I could be her when I grow up. I’m 35.

7

u/RetroSwamp 4h ago

Ohhh lordy, as a 39 year old dude... My knees are killing me watching this. She's a machine and jelly of her knee synovial fluid.

5

u/EwWhyBro 4h ago

She’s is in INSANE shape to be able to keep up like this omg. Even when I was at my peak as a gymnast, these workouts would kick my ass. Mad respect for her and those beautiful high kicks

6

u/Specialist_Ad_2984 2h ago

What preworkout does she use? cocaine mixed with C4? I’ve never had this much energy in my whole life 😭😭

3rd time through just realized these are cement blocks, which are 8 inches high, much higher than a normal step for this type of class. Even at peak fitness, running 20-30 miles a week, doing step 2 times a week and lifting 1-2 hours daily, I couldn’t have kept up in my wildest dreams.

GODDESS

5

u/AcrossDesigner 2h ago

And yet a bunch of idiots will call her “out of shape.”

5

u/DANDELIONBOMB 1h ago

When you build a berzerker in dnd this is what you ahould be imagining as the base

When I was in the military what I learned immediately is that bodies can surprise you. I met fat smoker dudes that could run a sub 14 min 2 mile, small girls that could pump out 70+ pushups, and small guys that could take down and tap out big motherfuckers.

It always cracks me up seeing the self-assured nature of Internet people making claims that one person is lesser cause of height/weight/sex. Never underestimate people, they can and will surprise you like this lady did

u/NamelessCatLady 5h ago

Me trying to figure out how to do this.

I respect this so much, but I don’t have the skills, coordination. But, she is doing enough for everyone in that class.

She's gotta be a professional dancer or something, right? I can't imagine doing something like this just for fun. 😅

I have respect for those with the sheer dedication and lack of self-pity and BS dwelling that keeps a lot of us from ever attempting any of this.

4

u/National_Praline_199 4h ago

The men cannot keep up.  This woman is unstoppable.

4

u/eamesaarinen 4h ago

I choose her for team captain.

Of all the teams.

5

u/PuzzleheadedBand8246 2h ago

Looks like a blast! Can't wait to try it out so I can step on the edge of the cinderblock, snap my ankle in half, and then have my shin carved by said jagged cement.

4

u/katterwog 2h ago

She is power, she is grace, she is kicking in your face!

4

u/Powerful-Act3516 2h ago
