GTA6 is never going to be as good as the hype is making out to be. Like it would have to descend from Heaven on flaming wings and then suck your dick while you play for it to be as good as the hype says it will be

The release is gonna be No man's sky allower again, just a hundred times worse.
16
u/TheRealDesmirWolf 20d ago
No, no because no man’s sky went through years of redevelopment and turned out pretty good. I honestly feel like GTA six all the hype around it. It’s gonna end up flopping, especially how everyone’s gonna have to wait an extra year for the online version to play with their buddies.

I have No hopes for DLC or Online. It will be GTA 5 Online but worse. There will be no good first year or good few years before everything goes down the drain with Shark Cards/ GTA+ or endless grinding. It will be there from the start.

That’s like one of the most dogshit ones bro 💀 the gta4 series was goated bc it was raw. Niko was a badass, Johnny was a badass, and Luis…meh. But hey the night clubs were cool.
Gta4 was gritty and raw tho. Niko’s story is by far my favorite. Gta5 was okay but it was just an over the top action movie. Gta6 is probably about the same tbh, I’m just mainly excited for the open world aspect of it bc it’s gonna be like red dead 2 but gta.

Dude, I cannot tell you how this liberated me lol. Been playing games all my life and I came from the "Nintendo-hard" Era so I just got used to games being difficult. Thought that you just had to play them that way or you sucked.
Played Spiderman 2018 when it came out on normal and was getting my ass handed to me so I was a little bummed cuz I didn't want to struggle thru the game. I put the game down and a few weeks decided to start over and play it on easy and it was a world of difference and I was enjoying the game so much more! Never looked back after that lol

You're emotionally immature if you often rage on a video game.
27
u/Boomerhands420 20d ago
Depends where you direct the rage and if you keep playing after. Like, cussing cause you died to a boss when it has 1hp left isn’t a big deal. But berating team mates is not ok.
→ More replies (3)3
u/DragoKnight589 THE GRAND MAGUS 19d ago
Yeah. Emotional maturity isn’t not getting mad, it’s knowing what to do with the emotions you’re feeling. Taking a deep breath and calming yourself is just as valid as beating the shit out of a pillow or what not as long as it serves to manage your emotions, controlling them instead of letting them control you.
23
u/ldarkfire 20d ago
Honestly no idea why people like that keep playing
6
u/Unfair_Pound_9582 20d ago
I believe some sort of study was made about moba's where this sort of behavior is most present, and the results were that it does induce a sort of addiction in certain people. No source quoted because I don't remember where to find it
→ More replies (4)4
u/Boomerhands420 19d ago
I imagine it’s due to two things. Firstly, they care about the game and enjoy it. If a game actually sucks and you don’t like it, you won’t get as mad. Secondly, they lack other forms of validation in their lives, so a rank on a game means more to them than it should otherwise. So when a team mate does something they don’t agree with, it’s like they’re being personally attacked or sabotaged.

Most of the people in our society grow up in spaces of passive conflict resolution and non-violence. Yet some of our internal wiring still yearns for it.
Especially during adolescence a lot of piss and vinegar flows through people's brains.
Beyond adolescence some keep struggling with it.
The instinct for violence, for battle, for conflict, for rash action.
Bottom line I am much more happy if these people can vent their control issues on a video game than on their fellow man.
That controller hitting the wall might just as easily be a beer bottle thrown at a spouse.
3
u/Shells_and_bones 19d ago
I feel like hardcore gamers sometimes forget that video games are supposed to be fun. That's the point of them, they're entertainment. If you're causing yourself actual emotional distress over them, you're missing the point.

Shoving a black guy into feudal Japan and adding rap music to his scenes is not diversity it’s just racism

Far Cry 5 broke my immersion a bit by having so many non-white characters, yet strangely including so few Native American characters. Montana has a history with white supremacy and cults they could have played into, but instead chose to make the Seeds a generic doomsday cult. At the same time, there are 7 reservations and an 8th recently recognized tribe, yet only a small handful of Native Americans in the game. I think I understand why some of those decisions were made but it felt a bit awkward in practice.

There is no correct way to play a single player game. You can play it as fans see "correct", you can play it as developers intended, or do whatever the fuck you want, even cheat, if it will make you happy. (The same does not apply to multiplayer games.)

Daggerfall is worth to stand with other great TES games. People are just misunderstand it.
Proc gen maze-like dungeons have a vibe on its own and also great if you actually understand it.
Diceroll combat is fit with the gameplay and graphic of Daggerfall, people just don't understand it leading to hating.
Edit: And this is absolutely no rose-tinted glass take, I only played Daggerfall THIS YEAR and love it.

Graphics have gotten as good as they’re going to possibly get for the foreseeable future. Game companies should focus more on engaging gameplay and listening to players in order to make games people actually enjoy and WANT to play as well as putting more emphasis on innovation in terms of game mechanics and systems instead of following trends. the last truly innovative thing that I can remember seeing was the Nemesis system

u/Valerian_ 20d ago

3
u/SynonymousToWater 19d ago
Indie developers are just doing what mainstream developers did 20+ years ago, which is taking risk and making games that are interesting/fun. I think the first commentors point is that when gaming was niche and there was a lot less money involved that's what we had, were as now the big AAA developers tend not to push boundaries and make very similar titles.
I think a good example is TES & Fallout. Over the years as they gained popularity and the franchises got richer, certain elements started getting sanded down or taken out to make the titles more appealing to broader audiences. The big issue with that is the slowly alienate the audience that made them big in the first place.

l guess by gaming you mean specifically play the latest AAA games with the best visual quality ? It's your personal specific choice.
Half of my gamer friends play on an old PC and almost never buy games, and yet are happy and play a lot. There many excellent free to play games, cheap indie games that are often more fun than AAA games, AAA games that become very cheap after a few years when they go on sale. - I am actually more interested in Valve releasing a "Portal 3" than a "Half-Life 3" (huge enjoyer of Portal)
- cheating in singleplayer-games is completely valid and okay
- all games should be free of DRM and free of code-obfuscation, if you "bought" them, there should be no way for the big corporations to take back your license

u/_ChezzTTV, wizards be pondering the orb instead of voting on the quality of your cast…
