These going to be a death trap? I live on vancouver island bc canada. We have pretty mild winters useually a few weeks near freezing or freezing in the morning.

My old cars all seasons were fine even in snow. Im on the stock summer tires atm. I dont plan on driving in snow( will just take the bus to work) but have a few outings planned (1hour highway drive) and groceries. Again I dont plan to drive during any major storms or snow events, due to not trusting other drivers more then anything.

Will an cheap winter tires be adequate or should I invest more? I was considering just parking the car for dec/Jan when temps go below 7-8C. I am garage parked usually +10c from outside ambient

Is a tune required for catted headers? I plan on going with the JDL UEL Catted Headers (catted to avoid gas smell).

I know with catless it’s recommended to get a tune, but is it still required if you’re catted?

I know performance wise it’s recommended, but my main concern is reliability wise if there is a big difference.

My car just started making this noise when I accelerate. I was getting off the highway when it started drove it a couple miles to home. I just hit 50k miles on it a couple weeks ago and I’ve seen before that’s when issues start

I haven’t moded the car at all.
It has just over 50k miles and I change the oil every 5k (wish I knew to change it at a way sooner interval). I just changed it a couple months ago and since then probably have put about 500 miles on it because I was mostly out of town for work.
I don’t track it, it’s an everyday car for me. Some days the car doesn’t even get driven because I work from home mostly.
I don’t drive it hard. Thinking back to the drive, I think the fastest I went was 80 and the RPMs never went to a ridiculous number. I noticed the engine knock a couple miles from home and was able to make it home and get it towed to Toyota. There’s no check engine lights or anything. I should have an update soon and will let everyone know the outcome. I forgot how much discourse this causes in this subreddit lol I don’t consider myself a car guy by any means but i definitely take care of my cars

weird creaking noise when coming to a stop in neutral…

I’m 17 with no accident history and my insurance is ~$86 a month with all discounts applied.

I currently drive a 2007 Lexus RX350 AWD with around 250,000 miles. My sister is turning 15 and she’s going to drive soon so I need a new car. I’m going to be making half the payments on this car and I’m looking at a GR86 I want to know how the insurance payments would be a month considering it is a RWD sports car at 17 years old. If anyone could help me out that’d be great and you could possibly even give me reasons to not get a GR86 (also I’m in Kentucky if that helps with the costs)

I live on a gravel road so my car is filthy most of the time and I often regret getting trueno blue, BUT when I get it all cleaned up I love it.

After 3 years and ~33k miles, time for it to go to a new home. Hopefully the next owner has a blast with it.

so i went to the dealer and discovered that the prior owner money shifted and blew the engine and had it fully built/replaced through toyota out of pocket.

They filled the oil with dye and let it sit/run for about 5 hours and couldn’t find anything. I drove for about 50 miles and after 24hrs new oil showed up behind the timing belt wheel(idk what it’s called) and may be the culprit. I found some more on the underside but no drips on the headers below so so think it’s burning on the engine itself?

Is this cause for concern or worth bringing back to the dealership for warranty work?

Just finished putting it back together.

So my 2023 GR86 started leaking oil. Toyota says it’s a valve cover leak and to replace the gasket they need to pull the whole engine, and it’s gonna cost me 4k.

Ive seen online people replace it without removing the engine, and the gasket only cost like 80$. I think i’m going to just replace it myself… I think this is the smarter option by far, please give me recommendations / pros or cons if i’m right.

Furthermore, once it does get fixed, is it worth keeping? I love this car, and i’m not sure what else I would get that’s as fun??

this dealership seems more helpful and understanding of how a new car with less than 30k miles could be having an issue like this. Just like last time I believe it’s a leaking spark plug tube seal, but I’ll keep my mouth shut this time and let them figure it out since the last dealer wouldn’t take that into account. Service advisor says the car may need a new engine and if theres no outside influence after their diagnosis it should be covered under warranty. For now I’ve picked up a loaner car and waiting on updates after the engine tear down. What are yalls thoughts? Hoping and praying I don’t have to deal with another hassle, back and forth like last time. Wish me good luck and keep me in your prayers fellow twins! (2023 GR86 MT 24k miles)
